Coffee means comfort to me. I always woke up with the smell of my mom making coffee throughout my childhood. When I became old enough to drink coffee, my mom and I would talk about the worlds problems with a cup. I unexpectedly lost my mom when I was 18. I’m 62 now and miss her greatly still. Love this video.

The fellowship of coffee. Its a thing. I havent made Percolator coffee in YEARS. I got a drip coffee maker when i got married. My family had a Percolator. It had a clear top knot thing on the top and you could see it brewing. Nostalgia.

Aww Drita is a beautiful Cardinal!!! When I was 7 my Mum got sober September 1st 46 years ago. I remember being 7 an going to A.A. meetings with her. I'd drink coffee an eat donuts or donut holes. Then after the meeting we'd go to White Coffee Pot or Denny's to eat. It hasn't been long since I lost her. Thanks for bringing those early days of her sobriety back to me....I've lost everything so the pictures in my mind are all that's left now... an to have such a great friend in my head bring out such wonderful memories I thank you Peter Monn .I send you love,light & positive energy!!!!❤💪😊❗

OH! I love this video SO MUCH! SARK books!! I was just telling my husband that a friend of mine noticed a SARK book in the backseat of my car one day and asked why I had a children's book in the car. His daughter had passed away at age 8 yrs old years ago and I had come over to visit. I didn't realize he was referring to my SARK book. The cover had numerous watercolor illustrations of stick people, etc. I adore those books so much and they have helped me during very rough periods of time in my life. Due to so many moves, I believe I had them in a storage I let go a few years ago unfortunately. For the longest time I had forgotten the author's name or anything other than the meditations, quotes, etc. and the art of course. Watching this video today helped me in more ways than one! SARK!!! Secondly the percolator. Lately I've been thinking about my introduction to coffee. It was my mother (RIP) when I was in 7th grade. She said I was old enough to have one cup of coffee every morning before school and she always used a percolator. Dad was already at work, so mom and I would sit at the dining room table with the percolator between us. The cap on the lid was clear as I recall (Corningware white and blue), so I loved listening to it and watching as it bubbled up in the little knob on top. The entire house smelled of freshly brewed coffee. Sometimes if I overslept mom would brew the coffee and that wonderful smell would jar me awake. Thank you so much for bringing these wonderful memories to life again, Peter! You are such a kind, gentle person and great storyteller! GOSH DARN IT PETER!! Who would have thought id be here sitting crying over COFFEE.. This hit home for me because my fiance has been in recovery for almost 5 years now and I've been with him every step of the way and he was always the "king coffee maker" at his meetings and to this day we can not and will not start our day no matter how busy we are without our cups of coffee together. Our favorite is being home on Saturday night with a pot brewing at 8pm to watch our movies. You are just the light of my days lately. Also, he always says "I'm too much" but us "too much" people cant change and we have the ones who love us for that and I freakin am obsessed with you ❤❤❤

I loved this! I would watch a reality of show of your day to day. Really liked hearing the sound of the percolator. Reminds me of hearing the sound of those old radiators that are built into a wall in old homes. They dont sound the same, but hearing them kick on in the morning when you are shivering under warm blankets, knowing it will be warm soon and your day is starting.
Hearing you talk about this just reminds me of when I visit my grandma or her sisters, all of them prepare the pot the day before, turn it on in the morning, get some stuff done and to this day we always mention my great grandpa Art and how he taught the whole fam to drink coffee :)
My mom and dad both are Navajo, so coffee is a big deal as a part of our culture. My family would host multi day ceremonies that people stay up for a few days, drinking black coffee from a kettle. They traded which kid would make it, and when I was a kid and made it, they always told me to go more often than others. Even hosting a dinner, we would always make a mutton stew dish. All the grandmas there would gripe if there was no hot coffee, it would be the cutest thing. They would say the fat from the homemade stew, from home grazed sheep, would clog your throat. I love the connection something so everyday and simple could bring a person. I loved hearing about your mom and your connection. When my family visits from the rez which is a long drive to the city we live in, I always start a pot of coffee for everyone. Best wishes on your new channel Peter! 💙💙💙💙

When you told the story of your mom having coffee, it made me think of my mom (who has also passed on) wearing her blue robe, with her natural short curly hair, glasses on, and making it in her Mr. Coffee pot. I'll never forget when I was in a real bad place, the miserable day to day life of using- being sick, constantly having to figure out how to get through another day- I used to say "All I want to do is wake up in the morning and sit outside with a cup of coffee" (im 6 yrs clean now). Now I have a beautiful 5 yr old autistic girl, and while she is still asleep at 5am I make my coffee, sit outside & drink it (and usually watch your videos lol). It is my me-time when I relax and am grateful. I think about when all I wanted was to do this. Xoxoxo

I have an old percolator with a glass top. You can watch the coffee getting darker. My mom had one like it and she had a stove top corningware percolator. They fascinated me when I was a kid. One of the first things I learned to do in the kitchen was brew a pot of coffee. Thanks for this video :)
So many of these things you share just make me think of memories of my own in the past with my mom, enjoying things like sitting in the kitchen and watching the cardinals. We put seed on our window sill next to the window at the kitchen table. I absolutely want more from this channel. The simplicity in everyday things is so comforting to me. Also in recovery, I am reminded of being in patient years ago and the highlight of the day was snack times when we lived for the crappy decaf coffee with graham crackers and peanut butter. My mom and dad both are Navajo, so coffee is a big deal as a part of our culture. My family would host multi day ceremonies that people stay up for a few days, drinking black coffee from a kettle. They traded which kid would make it, and when I was a kid and made it, they always told me to go more often than others. Even hosting a dinner, we would always make a mutton stew dish. All the grandmas there would gripe if there was no hot coffee, it would be the cutest thing. They would say the fat from the homemade stew, from home grazed sheep, would clog your throat. I love the connection something so everyday and simple could bring a person. I loved hearing about your mom and your connection. When my family visits from the rez which is a long drive to the city we live in, I always start a pot of coffee for everyone. Best wishes on your new channel Peter! 💙💙💙💙

Coffee is special to me too... I moved far away from home and when I’m home for visits one of my favorite parts is waking up early and making coffee for my parents and then sitting outside enjoying our coffee 💕

When you told the story of your mom having coffee, it made me think of my mom (who has also passed on) wearing her blue robe, with her natural short curly hair, glasses on, and making it in her Mr. Coffee pot. On occasion, she would use her percolator as well. Thank you for helping me remember such a simple time in my life ❤️

I'll never forget when I was in a real bad place, the miserable day to day life of using- being sick, constantly having to figure out how to get through another day- I used to say "All I want to do is wake up in the morning and sit outside with a cup of coffee" (im 6 yrs clean now).
Now I have a beautiful 5 yr old autistic girl, and while she is still asleep at 5am I make my coffee, sit outside & drink it (and usually watch your videos lol). It is my me-time when I relax and am grateful. I think about when all I wanted was to do this.

I’ll be sober 5 years November 12th. You’re so true about this. I remember just making a cup of coffee at night because I wanted to stay up and actually enjoy watching tv or movies instead of nodding off on myself. Can’t go to a meeting without having one. I have an old percolator with a glass top. You can watch the coffee getting darker. My mom had one like it and she had a stove top corningware percolator. They fascinated me when I was a kid. One of the first things I learned to do in the kitchen was brew a pot of coffee. Thanks for this video :)

So many of these things you share just make me think of memories of my own in the past with my mom, enjoying things like sitting in the kitchen and watching the cardinals. We put seed on our window sill next to the window at the kitchen table. I absolutely want more from this channel. The simplicity in everyday things is so comforting to me. Also in recovery, I am reminded of being in patient years ago and the highlight of the day was snack times when we lived for the crappy decaf coffee with graham crackers and peanut butter. Those things were precious during that time. Thank you for sharing your life and your experiences with us all here, Peter.
