Thank you. This match is hard to find and yet it is key in Becker's career. It restarted his career and avenged his 1991 Wimbledon lost final against Stich.
@@gewuerzwiesel123 I can remember this one too. To hear this especially from Pistol-Pete shows how much tennis-talent Stich had. But Stich was mentally not as strong as Becker. If you would combine the sheer tennis-talent of Stich with the will and mental strengh of Becker then you would have a player of the class of Djokovic.
Stich's whole game was effortless. One of the most talented players ever! His second serve wasn't as good as Sampras'. Quite frankly, no one's second serve was as good as Pete's... ever!!!
That's the rematch of Wimbledon 1991 when Stich served Boris off the courts. Remember that this match occurred only 1 year after they won Gold in doubles at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992. It's well documented that these two didn't like each other. Great match, Boris. Mental Toughness like no other.

Becker already in the physical descending mode. End of the year an absolute desaster! That he won this one was a miracle. Against Sampras, and the against Courier, Larsson, Delaitre, Washington, Boetsch and Gustafsson all deficits were visible.
Hm, you talking about 93? I think in 94 he regains Power and Fitness leading him to the AO win on 96. Especially 96 could have been a top year if there was not the hand Injurie. In 97 he goes down rapidly as he lost in first round at the AO. Since then he had no confidence anymore competing with the top players.

@@ShamyTV5k Do you mean the 1996 Masters Final or "ATP World Championships" final in Hanover Becker vs. Sampras? Well, Becker said it was one of his best matches ever. So, everybody was expecting Becker to become a strong force for 1997. It was not to be, a 1st round loss at the Australian Open against Carlos Moya more or less marked the beginning of the end. But that seemed unlikely at the end of 1996.
