And I wish they had kept him for future records... The Industrialist while having solid drums even though they came from a drum machine would’ve been intense.
Great point! They have such a range of music they have played over the years. I think personally they have a sound for everyone out there. Love these guys
Funny, I checked out Fear Factory for their cover of cars. Fell in love with that album and haven't looked back. Metallica and Megadeth were the heaviest bands I had really listened to before that. I was disappointed in Archetype and Digimortal. Too casual for FF. Mechanize was a breath of fresh air.
@@plantdesigns7889 Transgression was my only real disappointment when I first went through their discography but since then I've grown to like that album more.
Such a powerful song. I discovered this after the army, struggling with PTSD, and found this song. Decided to change my paradigm from a hurt self, to looking outward to help others make it. Love these guys, a big part of saving my own life.

They already got that with Demanufacture in 1995. Didn't you watch MTV's Headbangers Ball with Vanessa Warwick? Everybody into metal knew them. At least that was my experience but this is Finland. People being in posting lists on that modem dial-up time before (affordable) broadbands, it was very community-like.
Have you heard him live? Seriously, big FF fan speaking here, but Burton C. Bell definitely cannot sing a fuckin ´ note straight...but I guess it´s absolutely okay to depend on tech in the studio, according to the band´s general concept...;) First time I saw ´em was 1990 or 1991 near Karlsruhe,Germany with Unleashed and , I believe it was Nocturnus...Burton sucked "bigly" live, the keyboarder was busy changing sound disks the entire time, only Cazares delivered. Despite that, I still am a huge fan, have all of their albums and am eagerly waiting for the next one. Albums superb, with only a few minor and one major disappointment (Archetype), but live....won´t waste any more money on them after I´ve seen them , well, for the tenth? eleventh? time live and Burton always sucked at the clean parts.
JoRdOguitarman1 check out some live stuff from the mid 90's up to the early 2000's. there's lots of really good performances from Burton, especially the obsolete tour in 98/99, he was at his absolute vocal prime then. contrary to popular belief he didn't always suck live, his voice is just so badly damaged now.
I don't think people realise how much doing harsh vocals really does fuck your voice up especially when you're always on tour. The only guy I can think of that hasn't lost his voice after touring so much is Randy Blythe.
Working from home, suddenly I stand up and start headbanging. My wife looks over at me like WTF...it's these drums babe!!!...the DRUMS!!!! AHHHH!!! Glad these guys are still around and making music!
I saw them with this lineup at the Electric Ballroom in London on the Mechanize tour. When they dropped this the place damn near exploded. Videos don't touch the power of this band with a good sound on stage. It's like sticking your head in the afterburner of an F-22 Raptor at takeoff. Legends.
Funny thing is Gene Hoglan actually taught Dave Lombardo how to use double bass drums while working as a drum tech when Slayer was coming out with their first album Show No Mercy. Seriously, look it up.
Life happened. Brother's split. Sucks!!! Ugh... Been a fan for a long time. I understand though. Being on the road all the time and touring? Yeah? Sucks!!! The Rock Star life? Isn't for everyone. It tears you down. The shit you watch in video's. Its all there to perceive a wonderful time. Its all bullshit. Sad to see the band broke up. Again...Life happens. On to better venture's I guess. Still one of my favorite bands. Love you guys 🤟🤟
This is the song that got me into Fear Factory. One of the best tracks ever produced by the band. Each time I listen, it reminds me of the time I first heard it in London. Time flies but some songs are forever etched in our memories. God bless Fear Factory.
Just saw Fear Factory in London last Friday 03/11/23. Last time was Curitiba, Brazil October 2015. They played this song. I have to say, I miss Burton but Milo is doing an amazing job. Fear Factory forever 🤘
Burton Bell is awesome! He was the pioneer of the metal frontier that forged beautiful, clean vocals that were blended perfectly with the heavy, distorted sound of metal. I remember the Soul of a New Machine tour.
Fear Factory is one of the most influential bands in my life! Soul of a New Machine I got at release, and I've jammed to, followed, and loved them ever since! 🤘
Gene is a drummer that belongs in a band like this. I know he steps in when a band is needing someone, however he 's earned a home in one of these well known headliners.

One time after a Fear Factory show in Northern California my friends and I were waiting in line for food from a food stand. Burton was in front of us, and my friend asked him "What's up?" He responded: "Nothing much, bro. Just gettin' some grub."
I LOVE THIS BAND, AND THIS SONG IS AMAZING - IT'S BEEN MY RINGTONE FOR YEARS NOW AND I AIN'T CHANGING IT. POWERSHIFTER IS 1 OF THE MOST POWERFUL SONGS I'VE EVER HEARD🔥🔥🔥🔥

Gene Hogland is without question one of the greatest drummers in rock history
Metal
And I wish they had kept him for future records... The Industrialist while having solid drums even though they came from a drum machine would’ve been intense.
Gene the Genius
Came through my line when I worked at Trader Joe’s, couldn’t be a nicer and more humble guy. He was touring with Testament at the time.
Of course. He is the best.
Fear Factory is a timeless metal band. They can make a casual music listener into a metal-head.
richard dietl so true
Great point! They have such a range of music they have played over the years. I think personally they have a sound for everyone out there. Love these guys
Nah, Metallica is for the casual non metal head

Gene, Byron, Dino- Literally the heaviest rhythm section in metal.
Hoglsn is fckn impressive but damn I miss Raymond in FF
Raymond and Hoglan both legends. I know Herrera would absolutely destroy this song as well 🤘🤘

Seriously, these guys deserve more respect & credits in the metal community and media
FF have been relatively unsung for their original tight knit concept and inventive scifi lyrics.
Agree

Heavy fuqin metal 🤷♀️

Gene Hoglan .. a living legend! Mechanize is one of my favorites
Burton is easily the most underated vocalist in metal, and in music in general. His cleans are pure awesomeness.
Have you heard him live? Seriously, big FF fan speaking here, but Burton C. Bell definitely cannot sing a fuckin ´ note straight...but I guess it´s absolutely okay to depend on tech in the studio, according to the band´s general concept...;)

Gene Hoglan is playing the most violent drum track I’ve ever heard yet it looks like a walk through the woods for him.
Has that "I; am in the zone man, step aside" look. I am 63 by the way and still love this shit!!
Truth my brother! 👊🏻👊🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👆🏻
Working from home, suddenly I stand up and start headbanging. My wife looks over at me like WTF...it's these drums babe!!!...the DRUMS!!!! AHHHH!!! Glad these guys are still around and making music!
R.I.P to the drums when Mechanize was recorded. Gene killed those damn things.
I saw them with this lineup at the Electric Ballroom in London on the Mechanize tour. When they dropped this the place damn near exploded. Videos don't touch the power of this band with a good sound on stage. It's like sticking your head in the afterburner of an F-22 Raptor at takeoff.
Legends.
Gene Hoglan provides that he one of the best metal drummers out there. Timing and precision is impeccable.
Good old Gene on Drums never fails , perfect/spot on all the time
Funny thing is Gene Hoglan actually taught Dave Lombardo how to use double bass drums while working as a drum tech when Slayer was coming out with their first album Show No Mercy. Seriously, look it up.
not taught.just some tips
This song made my depression kill itself🤘
Damm straight brotha
This short chapter of FF with Mr. Gene Hoglan is, IMHO, an absolute gem in metal history.
Even so, Herrera was THE FF drummer.
imagine Gene Hoglan team-up with prime Einstuerzende Neubauten - that would've been so intense Hanatarash seemed tame

The most important Alternative Metal band.

Love that rapid fire rhythm and those absolutely killer vocals
I love the way the vocalist fades from super heavy to almost angelic on the chorus. Great stuff man great stuff

The drummer and his feet give this band it's signature sound.

He was the pioneer of the metal frontier that forged beautiful, clean vocals that were blended perfectly with the heavy, distorted sound of metal. I remember the Soul of a New Machine tour.
