And a woman! I grew in a Navy household, joined the Navy and did 20 years myself! And it was an honor…I’d do it again in a heartbeat…but we girl vets count too!.. We were there as well..
Proud to have served. US Army 1965-67. Took nearly 40 years before hearing "Welcome Home". Was not in combat but went where Uncle Sam sent me and did what he asked. All veterans are connected.
It means that I took an oath to Preserve, Protect, and Defend the Constitution of the United States. That didn’t stop when I took off my uniform for the last time. I still get a tear in my eye when I hear the Star Spangled Banner.
Thank you for your service, commitment, dedication, and sacrifices. A Siamese, I appreciate all that you do. Without individuals like you I might find myself eating raw fish and wearing a bathrobe all day, every day. Once again, thank you.
I come from a family of veterans. My father, my brother, myself and my son serviced with pride. Although I am not a combat veteran I am still a veteran. God bless all veteran
Thank you all for your service. We are a very special group, we are brothers and sisters called veterans. To belong to this group is an honor that has to be earned. I would do it again. It is an honor to be with you.
People often say to me "thank you for your service". I tell them that it truly was my privilege. I joined the Marines at 17 and was sent to Okinawa and the Philippines. 17 years old, in a foreign country , away from home and serving my country. Truly my privilege.
I'm a proud American Veteran, thou I'm retired now, I still connect with other Veterans when we speak to each other no matter what branch of service, I can see the pride they have, like me, to be a Vet. A lot of times I go out if my way to them and say "Thank you for Your Service." From Korea, Vietnam, Panama, the 2 Gulf wars, Somalia and points in between, the sacrifices we made for this Beautiful Country Of the U.S.A, is something we can't explain, but that we feel in inside ourselves. GOD Bless All Veterans, we come from all walks of life, a hardy handshake and snappy Salute, once again "Thank You for Your Service" and GOD BLESS the red, white and blue.
I am proud to say that I am a United States Marine Corps veteran. And I would do it all over again! I am so blessed to have served the greatest nation on earth 🌍! God bless America 🇺🇸 forever! SEMPER FIDELIS FOREVER! Respectfully submitted, Ron
As a US veteran, I'm glad I served. I gained rank thru consistent promotions and was handed a DD-214 at the end of my 4-year hitch. But I never have felt comfortable boasting about being a veteran. You see, countless other men and women sacrificed so much more and got only the same recognition I did - it would be disrespectful to put myself in their category. I'm just a guy who served, that's all.
It means I stepped up and answered the call when Uncle Sam called me for Vietnam. Proud owner of a draft card from that era, even though you can hardly read it anymore. They sent me a letter saying I didn't have to report but I went in a few years later. Many in my family have served as did I, WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam. When you join the military you give Uncle Sam a blank check payable for your life. Thanks to all now serving, those who have, and those who will in the future. FLY NAVY!!!
I am a 100% P&T, US Army Vietnam veteran. I am proud to have served! I live by Army values-Duty, Honor & Country. My father & uncle; my father-in-law & my wife’s uncle were World War ll, veterans too.
i was in the 5th grade on 9/11...when bush gave his speech at ground zero my grandpa, a vietnam vet, looked at me and said "we're gonna be at war son...i hope you're ready for it" 8 years later i was on a plane to ft knox to be a scout and i never looked back. Deployed to afghanistan in 2013 and though im out now i'll never forget that feeling i had swearing in at MEPS
I was on terminal leave from overseas, west coast, with 14 days left on term leave when 9-11 happened. They didn't call me back, I was aviation Intermediate level maintenance for FA 18 super hornet Hyd. Shop CVN -70 Airwing support VFA strike fighter squadrons. And before that I was helo combat support squad at 5 in Guam
When I come across someone wearing a cap reflecting their former unit, I always ask where and when. Many times they were where I was and we have common ground for what we did. We share an experience that is unique to us, especially if they served in Vietnam when I did. It confirms that I was part of something greater than myself. I enjoyed seeing the film accompanying this video. I shot a lot of film for the Marine Corps in 1966 through 1967 as a 4631 and 4671.
This is me and brother Jose in my beat up truck in my my profile. He just Reenlisted as a Pvt to come back to ANGLICO in March 1980. He was a Vietnam War Hero and thought we were going to War with Iran. As noted in his Citation for the Silver Star When the helicopter on board which he was a passenger was struck by Enemy Fire Cpl Hernandez unhesantly exposed himself to intense Enemy Fire as he remained open to administer first aid to Several Vietnamese Marines and assisted them to reach Cover. The thing he was most proud of was his Legion of Merit. He used to tell me you know Russell they usually only give those to Generals!
From 1968 on I knew the government was lying to us and I became an ardent anti-war protestor. Still when I was drafted, I knew I still owed a duty to this country and reported for induction. I was drafted into the Marines and served from Dec 1969 to Sept 1971. I am glad I served as it was a great learning experience.
I served from 26Jan84 to 1Oct94. Some of the best and some of the absolute worst days in my life. But, I’d do each and every day all over again and I wouldn’t trade my title as a Veteran for any other title that exists.
Navy Air Warfare FA 18 maintainer. 1996-2001 I wanted to stay, ex wife didn't. I made E-5 in 4 yrs, and was eligible to test for E6 in 18 months. I got E4 and E5 firsts shots, one test , one frock. They wanted to sign me on for 6 more with a $45,000 bonus, I should have stayed. AIMD Shore duty for first 3 yrs
Marine. 78-82. I'm sometimes embarrassed when people thank me. Never saw combat. But, especially over people thank me. And yes, other services like to dog me. And I enjoy it
If you took a hundred people and put them in a room 90 of them would leave the room not known much about anyone else.. But the other 10 were Veterans and and you would think it was home come week

Veterans of combat are completed men. We know how we will function when all the chips are on the table, when young men become 'forever young'.
Well done guys
