I was just reading the Alexandre Dumas Wikipedia page and it made me think of you, he was after-all a fan of the 17th century and it feels like there’s a 21st Century does 17th century through the lens of the 19th century in there somewhere
when you said to pin, pin, pin the curved seam, I immediately had 🎶pin pin pin, pin pin pin, shake yo booty, shake yo booty🎶😂. so the immaturity break just after made me feel not so weird!!!! I bought a gorgeous black fabric with coulorful parrots on it, for a corset. only bought half a metre, since that's all it takes for me. did not even think about the fact that it was a directional pattern, and didn't realise until I had put it together, that I have 3 panels of upside down parrots!! luckily they're spread out and not all together, so thats something😅. still one of my favourite corsets though! so I totally get the problems with directional fabric. especially when you don't want to/ can't buy any more. it's totally understandable that you'd be hesitant after your trauma. when I broken needle shot into my eye, I didn't use a machine for 2 months. so just take you're time and either build up to it, or wait until you've forgotten the trauma, and just go for it. not great advice, I'll admit😂. loved the finished dress. and obviously loved the frolicking. no point having a cottagecore dress like that if you don't frolic in nature!
LOL! Oh dear, now that's gonna be stuck in my head! 🤣 Your parrots aren't upside down...they're sleeping!!!! 🙃 And thank you!! It was fun to frolic. Was hoping to catch some of our famous wildflowers, but they're not out quite yet. Oh well! Thanks for watching!!
0:46 I'm laughing hard enough that the rabbit's looking like me like I've lost it. Bring it home and pat it for a while and ut it in stash for like fifteen years. OMG that's so me. Except add ten years... That turned out adorable, and as always I very much enjoyed your chaos gremlin reveal :) And I think we all need more immaturity breaks.
I’m SO SO GLAD your channel got pushed to me! Your energy is so fun, your knowledge is fantastic, and I love your approach to fashion and sewing. Thanks for the easiest subscription I’ve gained in a while!
Hmm... I was planning to take that 5-7 yds of pretty blue & yellow cotton I've had sitting in my stash for over 20 years & turn it into an 18th-century inspired Robe a la Bernadette, but maybe it needs to be Selkie-ized or inspired by a different era... ? Awesome dress, and the reveal frolic is hilarious. 😂
Yeeaaaah, I can see how stitching your finger would be a little off-putting. I have some fabric like that, that is even older. Mine was purchased in the 90s. Nice job.
LOL it's not that old 🤣 The company unfortunately stopped making fabrics and haberdashery a few years back. It's a shame! I've always really loved the designs. You can still find Cath Kidston fabrics if you really look, but not that one, sadly 😓 Thanks for watching!
Not sure! Cath Kidston is a pretty well known designer of housewares over in the UK (or she used to be, anyway!) It's possible that has bled through into other parts of Europe!
@@FantasticalFolliesCostuming it gives me something about being a kid feeling and curtins but me 45 so 🤣🤣🤣 it was so strange to see it and not that old fabric acculy as me as a kid.
I did a reverse image search on the fabric and I couldn't find it. It might be pre-Google then. I also feel that I have seen the fabric before, but I can't recall where.
Tbh, I'm not crazy about Selkie dresses. Most of them have that high waist that I hate 😕 I love your dress SOOO much better!!! It turned out beautifully, and the fabric is gorgeous 😍

Thank you so much! 😂 It was a lot of fun. Thanks for watching!
Ok you absolutely need the matching apron to complete the look!
I am very tempted!!!

HAH!!! I love that 🤣 Big fan of Dumas. Might be a fun concept to explore some day down the line!
Me: "Waaaiiiit a minute, you said that fabric was 15 years old and then you said you bought it in 2009. That's not 15 years ago!" Also me: OH NO.
BWAHAHA! 🤣 Honestly, I had a very similar reaction when I realized that 😵💫
Let's not discuss when I graduated....

I love your imaturity break. Nice and wackey. and 15 years isnt that bad right? RIGHT? I hope oneday to make something like this
Hah, thanks! 🤣 Totally not bad! And I hope you do! There are definitely easier ways to go about it...like using a real pattern 🤐

Thank you!! I'm working on it, though it'll be small things. It's not easy to do!
I love it!
I'm so glad you enjoyed! Thanks for watching!
Oh wow, you look so pretty!
Thank you so much! 😊
Shhhh! My husband doesn't believe in hoarding fabric.
Me : Preciousssssss will be used when the time is right. Musssst keep fabrics!
