Regency ladies aren’t supposed to swagger. But as you made that truly gorgeous ensemble I think you have every right to! Besides, if you had been alive in the Regency era, I expect you’d have made swaggering fashionable 😂😂
The new pieces look lovely & Bridgerton appropriate. You're not the ugliest laugh crier arpund, trust me. I am. We're not talking just uncontrollable tears & snot, but the red blotchy face, hiccups, and the resulting headache. It endlessly amuses my family & friends.
Your gown and ensemble are fabulous! Tulle may be nasty to work with but that embroidered stuff is really very pretty. The coral color looks great on you too - so much better than pink or blue. I'm also going to use the Laughing Moon pattern but the dress is going to be made out of a cotton print and will be a simple work dress. 🧡💙
That´s somehow kind of the best summer combo for my summer dresses with uncovered backs ( nice front but barely anything to protect the skin without using my hair etc 😅 )
I only use French seams on really sheer fabric, or something ridiculously frayey... I never seem to get it trimmed well enough and stuff always sticks out. Plus, my brain kinda breaks when I have to do things like gussets or armpit seams... Those turned out so cute! I like the gold braid detail on the sleeveless spencer, I'm glad you used it. And I love your goofy reveals
Agreed, net would be far preferable. At least I'd have a nice accurate stitching line drawn on. Which I need - that, or I have to tape lines 5/8" from my needle to do a commercial garment pattern. Because that distance is pure silliness. 1/4" is the edge of the presser foot. I went from quilting to bras. 1/4" to scant 1/4" seams for everything. All the time. And while I prefer narrow seams to trimming a lot later... I'm not sure that's going to go well with most linen, for a garment where accuracy matters. So lets chuck the prescribed seam allowances. Net patterns! Please!
oh. my. God! who are you and what have you done with Jacki!?! 😂😂yeah, I can't believe you not only willingly left off the rhinestones, but you also did french seams😮. I feel like I should be highly insulted with your British -ness attempt. but I can't help but laugh😅 oh good, were back to our regularly programmed insanity🎉. love the Spencer! I mighthave to make a sleeveless one. awesome final product 'alterations'. it's amazing what you can do with a gown by throwing something over it.
"[French seams are] a nightmare to redo." -- my wedding dress had seven full length panels (princess seams) in two layers (satin and organza), and with ONE WEEK TO GO we realised I had lost another dress size in weight so they all had to come in. I feel like I should go back to the seamstress with a huge bunch of flowers.
I was concerned there for a minute that we had a case of body snatchers/pod people when the lack of bedazzlement was established, but gold braiding redeemed a little. Still sus though.

Thank you so much!! And that's a great idea! It's a good, versatile pattern. Good luck with it!
So much fun! I'm pretty sure I've used that gold trim in silver for a few of my costumes. Pretty tulle too!
Thank you!!! Glad you enjoyed!

Yeah, that small of an SA makes sense on something like a bra that can get super bulky. But on ravel-y silk? NO THANK YOU 🤣
So cute!
Thank you!!

RIGHT? 🤣🤣🤣 Don't be insulted, I was not attempting a British accent. That was my actor voice :)

Yiiiiiiikes! I bet she hated that! 😆
If you don't mind the historical inaccuracy a roll hemmer on a serger makes a very tidy seam on shear fabric
I know that sergers do that, but I've never tried it! I should give it a shot sometime!
12:36 what is it about that sound that is so satisfying?
Hah! 🤣🤣 It's a mystery of the universe!

LOL! It's almost as if someone hit me in the head with something...
only jackie fantastical follies can make regency costuming interesting to me
Hah! Well, I'm glad I'm the one, if there can only be one! (Psst...Jacki with an i, not with an e ☺️)
@@FantasticalFolliesCostuming oops sorry Jacki!
And dance costumes i hear you. Double stretch spandexis even worse
Hah!! I've never really had issues working with stretch dance fabrics, because that's what I learned on, but I know folks hate them so much!! 😆
Stretch velvet... my least favorite
Ooooh yeah stretch velvet is not a fun fabric!
