Hack - spread out pieces on edge lined up on the ground. Solve for 3 groups of 3 or 4 on the ground (rather than looking back and forth to memorize the pattern, can hold it next to pieces). If you can't find a piece for either side of your stack, check if you link up with the other person's stack or the base. This is actually a hard puzzle, because the hole for the piece you're looking for is the mirror image of the piece you're holding.
