I lived in Nashville for 35 out of 40 years and then retired to my birthplace in Ohio. I was fortunate enough to enjoy all of the best and worst restaurants in and around the area. My place of work was a mile from the headquarters of Cracker Barrel. In all of that time I never heard of Nashville as being famous for "Nashville Hot Chicken". After I returned to Ohio I heard KFC advertise for "Nashville's famous Hot Chicken". It was never served while I was there. None the less, I hope they are all successful. If you want to go to an interesting, entertaining and fun city, Nashville is the place to go. Especially if you enjoy country music or music in general. The whole area itself is also a great place for recreation and fishing. The best restaurant in Nashville - Mas Tacos. I was last there 5 years ago so I am not sure what to expect now. A small place with metal and wood chairs where you sit where you can get a seat. Even if it is with other people. There will be 40 plus people waiting to get in but the wait is worth it. You can't compare it to any other Mexican restaurant or restaurant. As I write this comment, my mouth begins to water from the memories of the food I ate. After it was recommended as one of the best restaurants by the food channel, the tourist hit with their cameras and made life miserable but fun. Nashville; you'll love it.

I've never had Mas Tacos, but I grew up on the Northside and currently live on the Westside, and there is always good food no matter which side of town you're in so I don't venture over to Eastside very often. My favorite taco place on the Westside is pretty new Taqueria Don Carbon Express. It operates out of an old Fat Mo's drive-thru building and is always PACKED. They have FANTASTIC tacos though.

I do love spicy food though, and the hot chicken spices are just as good on grilled chicken. ;) Roti isn't really a thing here. Closest thing we have is tortillas which are used when we cook "Mexican" food. We have several Indian/Pakistani restaurants in town, but only one of them has roti on the menu. The others have naan and poppadum as the only bread options. They always serve basmati rice though with any of the curries they sell. I personally love roti and get it every time I go to that restaurant that serves it. By the way, I say Indian/Pakistani restaurants, because while they all call themselves Indian restaurants I've spoken to the owners and most of them are actually Pakistani. The one that serves roti is an actually Indian restaurant though, vegetarian and focused on Southern Indian cuisine.
