This is the best video about fitting a 33” tire in the spare location I have seen….
Appreciate the love
Its nice to see an aftermarket rim will work in the spare location. Just bought my fifth mickey thompson wheel. But I have a solution for locking my rim to the truck. Bike lock cable. Run that through the hole in the rim and go to the frame of the truck. That would be my way of locking it.
That's a great idea 🤙🏽
I did that too! That little cable shackle can be cut with a pair of pliers in 2 seconds.
I need to do this. I have my spare ray10 just collecting dust! Thanks for the video 👍🏼
🤙
I’d have wrapped that lock in electrical tape to keep it from wearing on your wheel and to keep dirt out of the combination
That's a great tip! I'll check it out
Hi, this is Hester from Issyauto, we love your channel and sincerely invite you to collaborate with us. We now have a FREE sample of the Remote Start for 16-19 Tacoma, would you like to try it out and help us make an installing video? We'd be glad to send you one for FREE! How can we reach out to you?

Thanks for this informative video! What psi do you recommend the spare tire to have under there?
No problem! I have mine at 32 psi. Feel free to run it lower especially if you need more room to fit, assuming you have on board air. 🤙🏽
Also , if you get a flat and you have 17” wheels running on the truck and you have to put that 16” wheel on the back. I believe it can mess up the diff gears if you run it for to long of a period.
Can you put the small wheel in the front and drive til you get to the nearest tire shop?
@@David-hd3yk you can. It has a Front Axle Disconnect that disengages the right hub to the differential. It’ll just pull to one side but it’ll be enough to get you to a shop. Even getting a matching spare and guys don’t do 5 tire rotation its enough to destroy the diff if mounted on the rear. When tires with big lugs wear, it looses size significantly compared to a street tire.
If overall tire diameter is the same it doesn’t matter if the rim is 16in or 22 in
Put a lock in the chain links.
You know... I think I'm going to look at that. Thanks for the suggestion.
Have you taken a look at your spare since mounting it? Wondering if there’s any issues.
I have and other than dust and dirt looks like the day I mounted it up. 😁
How do you avoid those markings on the tire (rubber) cause by the metal contact points which will be visible overtime when that metal parts started get hot and somehow leaved a burned mark on the tire (rubber)?
So have you had any problems on the outer wall of the tire ? I have some toyo open country AT3. 265/70/17 on some trd pro wheels after about 6 months I took the spar down to clean it. And had some major rubbing on the outside wall of the tire from the top of the undercarriage compartment. It was so bad I had to get a new spare. Any recommendations to solve that problem?
Hey there! Just don't tighten it up too much. I just have it firm enough just so it doesn't squeak.
Thanks for the video,
So you know if the oem spare has a TPMs sensor?
I want to replace mine but I’m not sure if I should put one in. Thanks
The spare does not have TPMS sensor. In my opinion, not needed. I only do a 4 tire rotation. If you do 5, then you have a point. Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much for this wonderful content. I am trying to do the same on my 2016 Sequoia.
Any issues with tires getting close to the exhaust?
I've only checked the tire once since this video and it looks fine still. 🤙🏽
285/76/16 is bigger than 285/70/17. I have the 16s and there’s absolutely no space. Even tried airing down.
🙁 that's too bad. Try a 🔨?
@@dadaking and what hammer out the left shackle on leaf spring and the exhaust?
what is the offset of your wheels? -10 or -38
These are -10
Good point about the lug nuts !
Can you fit 285/75r17 under a tacoma?
I don't know. These were a tight fight already as you can see.
Good video, thanks.
Glad it helped
Will heat from the exhaust cause any lasting damage to the tire? Thanks for the video.
There seems to be a split opinion on this matter. I am not worried about heat damage to the tire based on what I see under my truck. Thanks for watching!
@@dadaking You can add exhaust pipe wrap on the section of tailpipe closest to the tire for added protection. I've seen dudes cut their exhausts off ahead of the spare but some do it so short that it looks like the exhaust will be blowing onto the lower edge of the spare. Super hot exhaust WILL deteriorate the rubber over time but just being close to the pipe is not a big deal if the heat has insulation so it doesn't cook your tire.
