I wouldn’t say all. One of them involves a girl about to commit suicide, and another is immediately followed by him nearly beating up that same girl, who by movie’s end proceeds to actually kill herself.
I think something important when writing a push/pull-kinda story is that if the pull-behaviour actually is creepy, the characters needs to react accordingly, and not just "fall in love with it" or let it pass. It's not realistic and normalize toxic behaviour. I think the series You did a great job with this phenomenon. He gets obsessed with Her almost instantly, and as an audience you're prepared for a normal love story (cause every push/pull-relationship ends happily), but after a while when his actions are shown in a different light you're starting to question his behaviour and other characters in other series/movies.
I get your point but the situation in Scott Pilgrim is a bit different. It will sound weird but, in the story, the girl literally travel through his mind causing him to be obsessed with her. Had she not literally appeared in his mind, he wouldn't have seen her. The movie is a great watch though, I recommend it
Not for Scott because it's a different case, she literally forced her way into his mind, nearly every evening, and after the party when he goes on a date, it's her past that's the problem, Scott is an Asshole but so is she
The push-pull dynamic isn't intrinsically creepy, one perfect example for this is the relationship between Dawn and Ogie in Waitress, specially in the musical version. Dawn tries to push Ogie out of her life because she is scared that he'll be disappointed and run the other way, and Ogie pulls trying to show Dawn that when he sees her he wants to again, that he truly cares about her, and this dynamic eventually works for both of them.
I don't know why I love the this exchange from "La La Land" so much: Gosling: But requesting "I Ran" from a serious musician is too far. Stone: My lord. Did you just say "a serious musician?" Gosling: I don't think so.

@@bigstunna2049 Probably because "meet cute" is a stupid name. Wouldn't "the cute meet" work better, grammatically speaking? You know, a meeting of a cute person? I can understand a person telling somebody "meet cute", as an imperative. But taken as a noun, it makes no sense.
By far the best meet cute is the meta af "meet cute" in The Holiday when Kate Winslet's character meets her elderly neighbor who's a famous filmmaker and he brings up that it's their "meet cute" in the movie.
One thing to mention on the Scott Pilgrim example is the light switch above Scott that no one can possibly reach, which could show how Scott can't turn her on, as shown by his absolutely flawless plan to talk about Pac-Man to someone he thinks he's in love with just because he met her in a dream once.

Gilroy’s Duplicity is a fantastic love story set in the world of corporate spies. The characters meet cute and revisit the same “script” several times as they pretend to meet for the first time over and over in the film. The whole script is a masterclass in subtext and dialogue, evidenced by how the meet cute scenes, with the same words, each mean something new to each character every time it plays out. As much as I love the other movies, I clicked this when I saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind; any analysis on it (no matter how little)never fails to amaze me. It's so underrated with the younger generation(maybe not even commonly known but I'm not too sure), is so realistic in describing the journey of relationships, and always attracts tears from my eyes by the end of it.
