    This is not a European campground, but a camper area. (Area Camper in Spanish, Aire in French or Stellplatz in German). Campgrounds typically have more space and grass with space for travel trailers (caravans) and tents.

      They would all be considered campgrounds in North America. That is what we are comparing here. Doesn't matter if it has grass, tents, trailers, fire pits or not. It is a term to describe ALL camping areas. Especially since the term 'campground' is almost never used in Europe, who's to say what is a campground here and what is not? It is just your opinion what you perceive the term 'campground' means which seems to only define a very narrow category. In north america, any designated place to stay multiple nights in your camper can be called a campground. Technically, this kind of place would be more accurately called a municipal rv park in the United States. But we would still generically call it a campground. Especially since it is paid and has camping facilities like shower, laundry, bathrooms, water and electric hookups but they are not necessary. We've been full time living in our camper for 13 years, camped in 32 countries around the world and more than 27 countries in Europe. We have a very good idea of what is out there. The point of this video is to show north american travelers what to expect to find here in Europe as these small campgrounds are common in western europe. It is not a video that explains the meaning of the word 'campground' for Europe.

      @@freelyroaming Still, there is an important distinction, in such camper stop areas (with or without facilities, free of charge or not, time limited or not) you are not actually allowed to camp. No awning, chairs, tables, clothes air drying, cooking or showering outside and such - any of this is considered camping. Sleeping in a vehicle is not considered camping. Campground would be a funny name here for a place, a ground, where camping is actually prohibited. So maybe it's worth mentioning the difference in the definition of the word "camping" and use it correctly for the visiting country, so that travelers can avoid misunderstandings and sometimes hefty fines

      That's not true with this one. You are allowed to "camp" here. Chairs, awnings, leveling blocks, everything are perfectly fine. There are even bathrooms, laundry and showers as well. Even a small book exchange library. It's not just a camper stop This is absolutely what we would call a campground in the United States. Camper stops that you are talking about has minimal amenities or sometimes nothing at all. It matters what audience I'm speaking to so they understand the terminology I'm using. That is why you are not familiar with the term. This is more of a content creator lesson for you. Use the words that your audience is familiar with when showing something.

    Hi Dan
    Can you please guide me on how can I connect my American 110V motorhome to the European 220V campground? Thank you

    So, Dan- I'm super impressed with your (family's) sense of adventure. How many languages do you (collectively) speak? The variances in electricity, plugs, wiring needs, etc. would overwhelm me and that would be after confusion about where to stay let alone How to stay in locations? Exchange rates, Euros, dollars, which side of the road... black tanks

    • @freelyroaming
      @freelyroaming  3 года назад

      Thanks David. Just 3 languages fluently but we can get by with 2 more in a pinch. All those things are definitely challenges but it's all part of the adventure!

    What is your opinion on a US Gasser 33 footer, 2x4 class A, 8 foot wide MH max? our target territory is the Nordic countries. Interior space is a balanced priority, we need different interior spaces due to work and online classes for my kid.

    • @freelyroaming
      @freelyroaming  3 года назад

      It's doable but you will make a of sacrifices on where you can go. You will need to stay on the main motorways and rely primarily on large, paid campground so you can have proper facilities. You will have a hard time emptying a north American sized black tank in most countries as well.

    • @freelyroaming
      @freelyroaming  3 года назад

      We do not have a US style black tank. It would be next to impossible in most campgrounds.
