@@Nabee_H bitcoin won't work. For one it's a different currency, a volatile one at that, and not a payment processor. And second, it is just impenetrable to the common person. Say what you will about how one might learn, credit cards are just so much simpler to understand, and ironically even then some people still don't understand credit cards. The problem isn't the currency, it's the ability to move money. It doesn't matter if you make a new currency. If you have no way of moving it, it might as well be worth nothing. That's what a payment processor does. It's easy enough to say physically hand your friend $20 but if you need to buy anything internationally and at a stable rate, you need a middle man to do it and introducing a 3rd currency to do it just makes things more complicated, never mind exchange rates between 2 currencies now you need to do a 3rd exchange before you can even buy anything.
Payment processors don't HAVE a brand image. They provide a payment service and that is it. As long as it isn't illegal, they shouldn't demand ANYTHING from anyone. Evil.
The Japanese government has already entertained the idea of imposing tighter regulations of credit card companies. What VISA is doing is very illetgal in Japan.
They tested this first on people who had the wrong opinions back in the mid to late 2010's with the great adpocalypses. If you had clout and opinions that were a bit too spicy, your payment processors or advertisers would bail on you. Now they're broadening their reach to products they don't like. Welcome to the next phase of social engineering by de-risking.
It´s near impossible it´s a centralized transaction switft paymment newtwork. I had a feeling this was the case. We've seen before, that these cardholders don't want to be associated, but then get angry when we want to make our own thing.
I'd get bullied, but I wouldn't be against voting for a private option for these companies if their brand image is a concern. Collaboration is far better than competing, in my opinion.
I dont get "protecting the brand".. like does anyone think about the company of the card they are using when they buy something? the only time anyone thinks about it is if the company is blocking you from buying something. which is what hurts the brand.

A card company trying to restrict what people can make based on personal morals is no longer fulfilling the job that they're supposed to be. This is far, far overreaching what they should be doing. It's time to start shopping for a new credit card company.
Brand protection is nonsense for a company with a virtual monopoly. This has personally caused massive damage to their brand image for me, but I will not stop using their products because I don't have a choice. My bank only issues Visa cards. No matter how much I despise their acts, no matter how dirty their brand image becomes, I will still use it. Because the alternative is never engaging in online commerce and having to physically go to the bank and withdraw money for everything. An option that isn't even available to me for another several months because I live abroad and my bank doesn't have a branch here. These are the actions of a monopoly. Break them up.

At this point, no wonder Japan made their own, JCB. I had no idea until I saw a video of Garnt (Gigguk) mentioning about VISA and MC actually being 'Premium' in Japan, he just has JCB which is Japan's main card type. I think the most effected would be overseas people wanting to purchase directly from Japanese sites, but I'm sure there are people directly in Japan as well that are effected.
Even JCB have pulled out of some companies.
They operate through the discover Network so they call the shots. Discover is also part of the board of the bridge initiative so I have a feeling that all of this was enacted by the U.N. Since Japan isn't going to cooperate with their demands willingly, they're using the payment processors to be a discreet way of doing so without the UN looking like they are directly involved.
Isn't it like that in most of the countries ?
Visa and MC are mainly used for international (internet) purchase, the everyday cards are national ones.

Similar to Internet providers. They facilitate essential infrastructure/service and should have absolutely no business deciding what people use their service for (as long as it's legal).
Also, considering there are virtually no alternatives to the few card processors on the market (VISA and MasterCard being the de facto duopoly), there's literally no reason to protect any "brand", because in many cases where are people gonna go? The only rational conclusion, they're not protecting anything, just abusing their market dominance, any other conclusion is due to conflict of interests or sheer stupidty.

China knew from the very start not to deal with them though.

This would be a great middle finger to the corruption of the industry, like it is already happening with the woke games not selling at all.
There is no brand risk for VISA or MasterCard. Most people legit only sees both as tools to use to purchase their goods. Where exactly are these companies basis to believe this?
They're lying, they did it because anime does not align with their agenda.
