- An old video about the history of minstrelsy including an authentic recreation of an old time minstrel show. The skit at the beginning is cringy, but the history, dancing, and the show itself are interesting. This doesn't seem to be on RUclips for some reason, so here it is.
This entire channel is 2 videos, a minstrel show and a blurry ufo sighting. I like this dude lmao
A historic and valuable picture, regardless of today's negative views of blackface and minstrelsy. A unique opportunity to see Bud Jamison (of Three Stooges fame), singing, dancing, and (yes), playing the "bones!" Jamison possessed an operatic quality voice...a real talent.
Birthplace of the All-American Minstrel Show Philadelphia, PA Walnut Street Theater when the first imitation of the Burnt Cork was invented and took place in 1804!
I knew there was a reason that I’ve always been a Phillies and Eagles fan!!!
Great film. This and "Yes Sir, Mr. Bones" (1951). Would love to see both of them restored to HD for a release. Thanks for the upload!

While this sort of minstrel shows are no longer in popular favor. It doesn’t mean that there are no longer minstrel shows. They’re just called drag shows now Woman-face has replaced black-face for entertainment value.
Glad you got it from my Telegram
I got it from Bitchute
@@grandtheftauto5588 yeah I uploaded on there

@@jamesmadisonwilliams4210 I'm glad you did. It's difficult to find videos of minstrel shows on the internet. Do you know of any other rare ones?
@@grandtheftauto5588 It was originally on here 2 years ago
I love the last part especially the first instant of burnt cork was at the Walnut Street Theater in Philadelphia 1804
Unfortunately, there is MUCH missing from this "tribute." Those big, rather bloated, minstrel shows were only in vogue after 1870 or so. It was much maligned by minstrel fans of the former eras which were immensly popular and made minstrelsy the most popular form of entertainment in American history. They were smaller, more intimate, with more pathos, drama and humor than the banal tripe accurately portrayed here. And no minstrel show EVER had a dance number with music and dancing distinctly that of the 1940's "swing era" as shown here. Ugh!!!!
Interesting!
this shit will not fly today
Man
I’m very offended of this!
IDEA! Don't watch it.
