Selena died when I began HS school back in the mid 90’s and I remember two of my friends down the street who were from El Salvador running up to my porch with Selenas record in their hands, tears pouring down their faces yelling Selena’s Dead! Over and over again and I remember thinking I had no idea who she was! feeling confused but years later when I rented this DVD, yes Rented it back then out of pure curiosity in early 2000.I was amazed and mesmerized by this woman, and her beautiful soul and sheer talent. I always think back to my friends that day and feel at such a lost of not knowing this singer and couldn't even relate to the pain they were feeling but I understood their pain much more year's later and still now, because she was truly an Angel and a gift. If you do nothing else watch this entire show/ performance. Her stage presence and talent is just beyond mesmerizing and exceptional and she was so happy and it showed cuz to beginning to end, this was a show of all time. Selena is a Mexican American guys. Born in Texas, and she learned how to sing in spanish. But, her first language was English. So sad, she was just AWESOME! RIP SELENA!!
How is that sad cause she spoke English first you know how many of us black folks that don’t speak African language or Jamaican language but that doesn’t make us less of who we are .
So Selena was 2nd generation chicana, meaning she was American of Mexican decent, as her and her parents were born in Texas. Her connecting to where her family's originated from was important to her, as many Hispanic people who are born in the US can attest to, we are seen as American first, Latinos second by many Latin Americans, while the reverse happens with Americans seeing us as Latinos first and Americans second. She knew this first hand and made many pushes to break that separation from both sides, making herself known to be both simultaneously. I adore her for that as being first generation American born who is from Texas myself, it made me identify with someone that had something like me.

@@thetruth.7858 I meant is is sad that such great talent died so young. I am not saying it sad about her language.

Selena por siempre ❤️❤️❤️!!!
You guys are awesome! Thank you for reacting to one of my favorite singers 😎
