For someone who dropped out of high school Andy has an absolutely amazing vocabulary.

Ashley's like, giving the floor the death stare
Catie Koala It's difficult to express yourself around Andy- he is so outspoken, and the image thing for the band is so important to him--I've seen CC get ready to "make an Announcement" and Andy literally get in front of him in an interview and quietly get him to stop from talking. Ashley I think gives the floor a Death stare when he's thinking about what he would defiantly say...but is never going to as long as Andy is the lead of BVB. For better or worse, some experiences in the Midwest make you just shut your mouth about yourself...not just to "make it", but, just to stay alive.

CC didn't turn down A7X, he just didn't get the gig. But Jinxx mentioned turning down a band from Des Moines, Iowa, a band that later became huge ... I'm almost afraid to say it, but the ONLY band that fits that description is... FUCKING SLIPKNOT!!! Is that really true?!? He must be 10-15 years younger than those guys, come on!

Ha, no, I knew that. I was referring specifically to a "musical" education, and making a (bad) joke to make everyone else laugh. If you notice, the first time I ask Ashley a question, I referenced how he has an extensive background in fashion, design, acting, and that he came to California to be a lead singer.

Gosh Bvb is so intelligent. All of these men are completely aware of the music industry and the real struggle of it. Love interviews like this!
My mom is a huge metal/hard rock fan and she's had difference thoughts about BVB, but after we spent 6-9 hours in the car to go see BVB and listened to their songs, she had me look up interviews like this and she said a couple weeks ago, "Ya know, I understand why they have the lyrical content they do now, because after hearing all them talk, Andy is one of most intelligent people I've heard talk. Most of the bands are. They're more well educated." Now she likes them!

The amount of intelligence in this interview is overwhelming! I love how everyone has their own knowledge and when they bring it all together, it makes for a fantastic interview!

to the kind people asking why Andy talks so much; It's something that makes people who they are. I do it too. I like to talk. I talk a lot. It's this mindset of talking and talking wich in my case, helps me clear my mind from all the thoughts. others like to get attention, or maybe do it to keep up an act. Andy has ADD, meaning that he gets distracted easily (or that's what my doctor told me.) I have the same thing. ask me what my favourite colour is, and I can give you a 4 hour story. hopping from topic to topic. i have 5 hour conversations with friends, starting at the math homework and ending at our bmi's. so that's basically why he talks so much
thank you. someone who speaks alot are usually passionate people. whether it's just their personality or about something. it also shows confidence. so yeah 💚💚
I don't exactly have ADD but my counsellor thinks I might. I get distracted so easily and find it really hard to focus on things. There was one time in class where we had the period (75 min) to read ten pages of the textbook and answer 12 questions. I read two paragraphs. I got distracted by my pen, my desk (the top was chipping a bit), the fact that one of the computers (the classroom is also a computer lab) was on, etc. Also, some people get annoyed that I don't tend to look at the people I'm talking to. Like, I'm listening to you but the poster on the wall is very interesting right now. I talk a lot and do the topic changing thing too. The conversation will start on something like "women's fashion in the 16th century" and by the end of the conversation we end up talking about something like "Alexander Graham Bell"... after an hour or five. One time the lady I used to see for anger management started talking about "good ways to deal with anger" and ended up talking about "our favourite foods". (I didn't mean for this to be so long sorry)
I talk like this a lot too and get really excited with what I'm talking about somehow. I don't know if I have ADD (wouldn't be surprised if I do tho) but it's nice when people are actually listening instead of saying "you talk a lot" and automatically zoning out when you speak
Maartje Molenaar I have ADD too and I also have a stutter (which makes it even harder for me to talk in a conversation without having to repeat stuff every other word) But I will talk to people for hours about my favorite bands, and then give them a back story on how/where/when I first heard them and how they formed and all the members and everything else in between. Like now I’m going on and on nonstop. So yeah. Anyway...

I've loved these guys since I was 14 and getting bullied in high school and I'm 25 now.
Very interesting what Andy says from 45:25 to 47:23. :)
I like that he keeps modest and down-to-earth concerning the self-image (who you are). He explains that you have to find who you are by your own evaluation, and should not believe what others think or say of you. Interesting that he applies this principle on positive attitudes towards him (by fans saying compliments) as it's sth. easy and comfortable to believe (-> shows that he's down-to-earth and genuine, self-critical), whereas back then, when he had to hold his ground, he applied that principle on negative attitudes towards him: If s.o. says sth. negative about you, don't believe him. Actually it's the same principle "Believe in yourself/who you are" by finding and staying yourself (a part of you that stays the same) independently from your surroundings, that has to be applied in both directions.
I think he's right, though it's a difficult task. You are always in interaction and influenced by other people concerning your self-image (fortunately; that's philosophie: always the middle; the right personal evolution is to become more and more independent) ; that's why he says "a part of you", I guess.
He mentions the example of fans saying that BVB saved their lives.
He says that it's not BVB that saved a person's life but the person itself.
He's right saying that as people can feel that they have an own strength, that's what BVB wants us to know. Their message encourages us. He doesn't want to take credit. BVB had not the intention to actively save people's lives.
He points out the subjectivity and relativity of reality - as fans saying that BVB saved their lives feel that as reality.
"Our songs mean sth totally different to them than they do to us."
I do not completely agree. It's certainly true for the biggest part (very individual, personal experiences,...) but I am convinced that there's a minimal consensus of message in the songs that is universal and intended by the band. The songs (lyrics) contain the notion of giving strenth, believing in yourself, struggling, even if life wants to kill you or you have very negative thoughts, you make it to keep alive, the will to live, standing one's ground, unity,... I'm not sure if I mentioned too many words that actually represent my subjective understanding of the songs, but I think that they tend to represent the universal message of BVB that is intended.
It's not very comfortable to see the adored person taking distance because you are always emotionally affected: if you believe that Andy is so great/your saviour/... and he answers sth. like no, you get thoughtful and maybe feel that Andy does not want to have anything to do with your reality, a little deception. But I have to modulate that Andy still accepts the compliment and can enjoy the fact of taking part in the process (as he said in another interview) - but, and this is the big BUT Andy quickly says everytime on this issue, he/BVB is not the one who saved/etc. people's lives. It's not his intention that he/BVB is the one to credit.
I agree. That is a healthy, modest attitude. He HAS to say that. If he agreed on what those fans say, he would be reproachable. People should not feel dependent. If BVB helps them, then the final stage of this process is what Andy said above. People get insight and can maybe really start to believe in themselves.
Andy: "When s.o. says sth positive to you, it's a reflection of how they feel about you, not how you project(ed) the world."
Sure. Clap clap. Again he points out the relativity. And this is good. It's modest. It's also self-protection. If people have to high expectations and thus finally even completely wrong expectations, ideas,... of you, that's bad. Andy does not want to enter the thinking about deceiving people or not, I think. That reminds me of his early principle "doing/being what you want to do/be and not what others tell you to do/be."
Andy doesn't want to cultivate (self-)adoration. Because people tend to believe in the absoluteness of sth. they believe (in) that has been approved by their target of belief, and Andy/BVB would make himself responsible for it.
But I am convinced that Andy is a good person and that he wants to be good/do good things (following his moral values, virtues, principles).
In the end he wants to assure a reasonable relationship, let's say a reasonable view. Because of course we feel what we feel and Andy does not contradict this.
For me personally, Andy is great. He's awesome, fascinating, intelligent, talented,... He's incredibly beautiful. :o I adore him, sometimes I think of him all the time. I love to watch him. He makes me smile. I really appreciate what he's saying, as you can read here xD, and I like to reflect on what he says. It's my habit to build up theories and analysises. He's inspiring; and I often got to feel so much affirmation through the words he said, so that I would think: "You said it" and I got insight. I feel good and he gives strength and wisdom. But I happily never experienced such a big deep in life that I had to be saved by s.o. else whom I would credit the saving. He's not my saviour. It actually doesn't matter if I feel that or the other way. As much as I love him, there are/were things I hate on him or that I consider negative. But these feelings do not affect my love. I see him as human and do not have high expectations on people by nature by reason of self-protection/not wanting to be deceived...I cannot say much because I don't know anything about him except from the medias. I never met him, and that would be, just like for any fan, my dream. But actually I don't really know what to do without a plan, and maybe that would be artificial anyway. You can't get s.o.'s friend just because you want it. Impossible. Sorry that I write too much. I didn't plan this at all but it just happened. Spontaneous things are the most enjoying ones :) And sometimes I just like to write my own opinion down. And note that everything I wrote is from my perpective, it's obvious, but anyway.
Best part said was about backing new bands. I hate hearing my generation saying the same shit we heard.."Well MY bands played REAL music & this stuff is a weak copy",ect,ect. How did we go from young fun loving metal heads to old crotchety bastards?!? Pathetic!! I'm 48 & i LOVE BVB. they make me feel 18 again Cuz they ARE good! we all only get older, but to be young at heart is the best you could ever want. To have new bands pick up our stuff & keep it alive is a gift. So yeah only play to YOUR generation, but we ( old bastards ) need to get behind the new stuff or its all gonna die.
This is why I love BVB so much!

People say Andy talks to much. this may be the case. but my theory is a person who talks alot is passionate. passionate about curtain things. so let them talk about these things, express their opinions. This video came out great! I'm so glad I got to be there. This totally illustrates why I love these guys. They are talented, smart and their success was no accident. Even if you don't love the type of music they play, you have to respect them.

no words could ever justify my true love for this band, their intelligence astounds me and their talent in both music and understanding music is something that i aspire to. this band never let our bvb army down, we are one huge family. black veil brides always put their 100% into every show to make it as great an experience for us fans as possible. when i met them last year they were the kindest, most relaxed guys i have ever met, they're genuinely so down to earth and so caring. i remember jinxx telling me to wipe my tears because he knew i was strong, and since then i've had so much courage. black veil brides believe in us, every single one of us in the bvb army, never forget that.

I agree totally with what michael cvetanovich says, that this generation should embrace these new bands and also us older fans need to give them our love and support for the genre to live on. I was never a metal or hard rock fan, I am a folk music and reggae lover and when I got introduced to this band, I was blown away by the intelligence and great music, I've been addicted ever since, not to mention this band is bringing manhood back! Not since Jim Morrison have I heard a voice like Andys. And CC makes a woman's mouth water.........

Honestly I relate to them a lot, I'm still a kid but music is just my life. I've always wanted to be a rockstar. It doesn't help that I grew up listening to guns n roses, Motley Crue, AC/DC, KISS, Def Leppard, and others lol they just helped me find my passion

It annoyed me when the host interrupted Jinxx to ask "how many bridesmaids", seriously? He's telling his story, don't interrupt him just to ask such an irrelevant (and might I add, inappropriate) question. Also, Andy we love you and would love nothing more than to listen to your beautiful voice all day, but you've got to stop interrupting your friends when it's they're turn to speak.
