I have to agree with the rest of the crowd.. Ive been watching various car reviewers over the years and many have went to blogging and clickbait. You guys do an amazing job and are growing on me. I can see this being the main car reviewing channel in 2018. Keep it up!
I personally don’t see people cross shopping the two. When one is shopping for an Audi they’re going to pretty much have their mind set on what they want, luxury with some performance. Those getting the Stinger will be looking for performance bang for buck. Both nice cars, just different buyers.
I did think about getting a 3-4 year old Audi S5 sportback, but that car will be out of warranty, and have dated infotainment. Instead I got the Stinger, which has everything, carplay, infiinte warranty.
I have this car as a loaner and it is really fun. The engine note is fantastic. Even my 10 year old loves it! He said why would anyone buy a Tesla! Downshifts are amazing too! Burbles like a madman!
Hey Sofyan, I really like all your reviews on the cars. They are pretty consistent and follow a pattern which is good as it is detailed oriented. I would really like to see a independent review on Audi S5 hatchback (4D) as well. Hope you can get one done soon! Thank you for all the work you do!!
New A4/A5 actually have "all-weather lights", which replace "fog lights". They are built into the headlamp housing, and when turned on, perform as fog lamps, and throw even more light out of the side of the car than any fog light does. They also function as the automated cornering lamps, at speeds below 35MPH.
Good review, just to correct one info. the car does have a launch control, i own one, put it in dynamic mode - traction off - sport - left foot on the break - right foot on the gas all the way down, rpm will increase & stop at 3000 - turbo boost will reach to max, then let go of the break, the car will rocket! and gear shifting will become aggressive/punchy
Our decision is made for us. I have an A5 and strongly looking at Stinger as replacement. The A5 without adds is in the same bracket as top of the range GT
Honestly I used to be the biggest Audi fan boy but now I could never see myself paying 15k more for this over a stinger. It's simply not worth it. Former designer from Audi designed the stinger, Albert Biermann from BMW M helped tune it, so it's basically a German sedan anyway! If you buy based on the badge, you're not a car guy (or gal). Simple as that.
Dylan Wodrich I wouldn't get the Audi either. We are spoiled for choice in terms of performance luxury cars and I don't see a stinger being competitive at all. The stinger is based on a luxobarge sedan from their subbrand genesis and it's weight suffers as a result. I would have to test drive one whenever it becomes available here to see if I'll want one.
Sofyan and the guy who records for him are the best! Literally! I look forward to see his videos, even though I could probably not afford this Audi! It’s nice to see the inside and all! Keep doing what your doing sofyan! It’s working! Cheers to a new year, filled with car reviews! 😊
I really enjoyed your comments and agree with almost all of them, just some additional comments as I have been driving my S5 for a few months now. From some of the comments below, I have to say this, the proper perspective you need to evaluate this vehicle is not from young, statistic driven dreamer who chooses and comments on what they like from reviewing BMW, or worse Kia stinger videos , but who this car is targeted to, a guy like me who is a middle aged executive. This is the "right car"!
I wanted to complete my comments as my fat fingers executed the post. This car is brilliant in almost every way. Style is Audi premium and is unique on the road. I see so many 3 and 4 series, you can't find yours in a parking lot and you pass them all day long. You notice this car. It has classic coupe styling, long hood, short truck deck, squared off shoulders and tight body contours. It is an evolutionary design from the previous version, but that one won world accolades for its look. The driving experience is powerful, and manageable depending on your mood. It is extremely fast, yet comfortable, toss-able and confident in everyday driving. Best way I can describe it is balanced. But when your on it, know where your going because as it will throw you back in the seat. The interior aesthetics and technology are leading edge Audi, dashboard multi function views, with a great MMI interface, and unreal sound system. Overall, a competent, comfortable, exec saloon, as good as it gets.
I’m going to share my comments and take it for a grain of salt. Instead of giving you a biased overall review (because I have the 3.3 twin turbo Stinger GT1 myself), I would rather give you my personal experience of both vehicles. I test drove a 2019 Kia Stinger GT1 ($42k after 125k mile full bumper to bumper premium warranty) in the gorgeous HiChroma Red (which I obviously own). I felt it was important to drive the Kia 1st, then I went to Audi and test drove a white S5 Sportback ($72k after tax). I finally went back and test drove the Stinger one more time so I could really feel the difference and get a no kidding unbiased outlook. It was a great strategy. the Kia impressed me although little details like the seat design and quality of the leather was to be expected. It wasn’t as nice as the Audi. Not surprised there. Where I was and still am impressed with the Stinger is it’s very simple (yet refined) layout of buttons. Everything was well thought out. The plastics are of good quality and the Mercedes like vents with the Audi like button layout was very refreshing. The 8 inch infotainment system in the Stinger is beyond easy to use and the color and clarity of the screen is just as nice as the S5. The instrument cluster in the Stinger is not as “WOW” as the S5 but I would consider safer. Why? Well, because you don’t feel the need to have your eyes glued to the cluster when you should be looking at the road. That being said, I find it’s big enough in the S5 that you don’t have to look very long at the GPS when it’s on the cluster. Overall room and luggage capacity, I have to say I didn’t consider one better over the other. Getting to overall performance, road feel, forced feedback in the wheel, comfort and sportiness, here’s the “NO SURPRISE” factor: the S5 was better but not over $25k difference better. If you think and Audi door is going to hold up longer, or an Audi electronic system will go longer before failing, or an Audi engine or transmission will last 100K miles more, I would like to see some proof of this instead of hearing the old, “it’s a Kia! Of course it’s going to break or not last as long as the Audi.” I will tell you by my personal experience. I’ve owned 3 Kias and zero Audi’s. None of my Kias gave me a problem. I owned one BMW and it was a literal shitbox. I have known many friends with Audi’s that went broke trying to fix it. I’ve also known Audi’s to last a long time. Most cars are fine if you don’t have a lead foot. To be honest, I give Audi the lead on quality and overall performance but you pay for that premium, and you pay a lot. Remember when it breaks, you pay premium for maintenance too. Consider that with Stinger, it’s cheap to upgrade it and make it a hell of a lot more powerful as well. $600 tuner chip and a simple Denso spark plug replacement bumps HP up to 450 from 365 and torque up to over 500 from 378. Considering that one upgrade you’re looking at an S6 performance vehicle for half the price of brand new!
I've been considering getting an S5 during the summer and this has been the best, most thorough review yet. Thank you! I'm still undecided on coupe or sportback though. How big of a difference is there for driving dynamics?
Zack J We briefly drove the Sportback in the summer last year and we’re super impressed. From what we remember, the two cars feel very similar, you’ll only notice the difference when you look behind you :)
Easy choice. If you have people/family to tow, or if you're the only one who's driving, then you know the answer. I have 2 kiddos, so sportback. Coupe has shorter wheelbase.. More maneuver I guess
You guys do an excellent job with this channel. I like that there is absolutely no bias in your reviews and that you are very blunt with faults. Keep up the good work guys!
There have been tons of B6/B7 S4s with over 200K miles including mine. Still feels brand new to this day. Interior is 95% perfect without any blemishes other than 2 buttons that have some wear in the soft touch.
Would definitely take a Kia Stinger over the Audi S5. Not only would the Kia stand out more on the road, but you get a lot more bang for your buck. Just because of the badge, don't judge the Stinger without driving it. I haven't had the chance to drive one, nor the money to buy one, but with all the reviews, Stinger is for sure a winner.
+Prashanth and you think the Audi/BMW/Merc don't make fake exhaust sounds? It's all programmed in the computer to make a fart here and there, and echo through the speakers or through exhaust tuning. Nothing, what a little aftermarket couldn't do in a Stinger.
Totally agree with Steven here. So many badge whores are telling me that NOBODY will notice me in a "Kia" (like omg that's terrible). Ironically, every other car in my parkade is an Audi, a BMW, a Merc, in boring black, grey or white. Pretty sure everyone's first reaction to my stinger is... "what that's a KIA???"
My neighbor around the corner has one of the A5 sportier versions and my head turns whenever she drives around not just because the car is really great looking and has one of the best paint jobs around but because the sound that comes from the engine is amaing.
55-60k fully loaded would be very attractive. Pre-owned certified seems the best way to go for this car. 70k is just ridiculous at this point for this car.
You need to turn the TC off, trans in sport, hard on the brake, and press the accelerator until the boost gauge is at 1/4 to half then release the brake. No lag and it’s a monster
That was a great review of the S5! I love the way Sofyan thinks and his reactions with the Audi. His character is what attracts me to Redline reviews... not to mention how he likes Audi’s...that too 😉
I am not an Audi fan boy as I have never owned one but after testing merc, BMW and even genesis I ended up picking up a s5 sport I have owned other German cars and to be honest the interior on the Audi is miles ahead of the other offerings. After 3k miles I have zero complaints and I know it's early in ownership but this thing is high on my list of cars I have owned. Nice job on the review
Mercedes generally has the highest quality interior of the three, Audi the middle, BMW the lowest (BMW interior hasn't really changed since ~2006?). Go to performance, and BMW's are the best drivers cars, and Audi/Merc probably tied.
Well I guess we all have different opinions but almost everything I have read says Audi has the interior to beat. After spending time in all of them there is zero doubt that the Audi with the Virtual cockpit is better than offerings from any other in it's class and my last car was a E350. I wanted all wheel drive so for merc I looked at the c43 and BMW grand sport. Styling was a wash for me but the merc exhaust was way better but in the end it was the interior of the Audi that swayed me to by my first Audi Even when I picked up my 350 I liked the Audi interior better but the syling won out over the Audi for me.
Where have you read that, lol. Every prominent car reviewer says Benz is the interior to beat, i.e. best cars to have if sitting in traffic all day. Audi styling might be great, but unless you go to the S or RS versions, the drive is just so bad in the regular Audi's (given the price-tags, of course), not to mention how painfully under-powered they are. Of course Infiniti Q50's or the Kia Stinger, as an example, can't compete with German brands as a whole since they plateau in performance at around $50,000, but given that price and under, they objectively beat all German competition in Price per value, especially in performance/power. My biggest issue with Audi is the lack of upgrade on the exterior from model to model, Mercedes are just flashier/snobbier cars with sub-par performance unless you go AMG (i.e. 63/65 but then you're bankrupt), and BMW is the lack of interior upgrade, their interiors literally look almost exactly like that of their ~2006 models.
Do the steering wheel feel the same like the A5? I use to own this S5 and looking to order the a5 this time. Since it’s 10k cheaper. I drove the q5 and the steering wheel is loose. So I didn’t like it. But a5 is my option if you can confirm this.
Love your reviews. Please keep up the good work there’s a lot of oh it’s fast ,look at the screens, aw the exhaust man!!! Try sitting through 10 minuets of that. Redline Reviews are top shelf and Professional. Thank You.
no heated flat btm or vented diamond pattern seats is absolutely ridiculous. most all quilted/diamondback i have test drove have had vented seats. at this $$ it should be standard with all trims, steering wheel and seats. this s5 looks generic and not special to me . i like the 2010 s5 style . maybe its because most other companies have stolen AUDI BODY LINES.I LIKE THE STINGER LOOK BETTER . great review as always boo
So had you purchased a Stinger GT2 a year ago you’d have lost $20k in value (seriously). If you bought an S5 however, maybe lost half of that, probably less. I bought and traded in a S3 after 4 months and only lost $1000.
Liked your review, good job ! I understand your comparison (in a “bang for your buck” terms) but lets have this clear: Nobody (and I mean NOBODY) having the taste and money, and looking for a Sports Coupe in this segment would consider a Kia by ANY means. Kia did a fantastic job with that Stinger, but it sits in a different lower category. The potential buyer of the S5 Coupe will compare it vs the Mercedes Benz C43 AMG or BMW 440i Coupe. Keep the good job !
You're correct. The Kia Stinger seems more like the type of car someone buys until they have the income for an Audi S4/S5, and its BMW and Mercedes competitors.
Stinger: more power, more torque, better warranty, more equipment, less expensive, better looks, better value, designed by Peter Schreyer and tuned by Albert Biermann. It's a no brainer, really.
Yeah no the audi looks way sexier then a kia stinger and it's got a better transmission. Audi's quattro awd is the best in the business, plus the massage seats in red are so sexy, and Audi's new Virtual cockpit is super nice. The technology is better in the audi. Also the audi is faster and more powerful. And with a simple level 1 ecu tune this care gets over 420hp so yeahhh you're smoking crack if you think the stinger is better. You're comparing a fucking kia to an audi😂 like bro
@@hatchell18 Badge snobbery is simply not a valid argument. Keep dreaming about owning an Audi. I'll keep enjoying actually driving my AWD Stinger GT Limited. To each their own.
@@hatchell18 Whatever ant--the Audi will lose half its value in 2 years.Used s5s go for the same price as the Kias--If a kia owner spent the extra 30k difference in cars we would have a super car beater,Audi reliability is--and I will be nice--spotty at best.JD power has the stinger tied with a honda pilot on reliability--audi is 12 points lower along with Volkswagens--electronics and that quattro--great--when they work--consumer reports has the s5 at lower then average reliability--with transmission an electronics red.I also do not like leather--it makes the car smell like it for the first year or so.
I just bought ceramic silver stinger GT2 awd with Napa leather seats for $49K that has 10 yrs power train warranty, I am not buying the S5 Audi for $68K not buying s5 hatchback for $62k.
Paid $54k out the door cash. It just came out that day. I'm sure around April I could get better deal but it was a gift for my 73 yrs old dad. He wanted that car w gt2 pkg with awd and I got him exact car. Audi s5 hatchback was around $70k out the door so too much money.
The Car Crazy Guy Thank you!!! I hope more manufacturers bring back fast wagons. I use to love the old Subaru Legacy GT wagons with manual transmissions.
Polestar Wes I hope more manufactures see the importance behind performance vehicles in general. And I hope us, the car enthusiast community isn't afraid of spending money to keep what we love alive. It takes us to make us
woodie McKnight I totally agree. Ever car I have ever owned was a manual transmission, but the death of manuals are the consumers fault. There's just not enough enthusiasts for automakers to justify making manuals. Problem is we are a small minority and this is why most automakers have 3 to 5 different SUV/CUV in there model lineup.
Polestar Wes I agree, and even though my genesis isn't manual, I still plan on owning manual cars in the future as soon as I learn, a wrx sti and Toyota brz to name a few. I just love performance cars in general, manual or AT, 2 or 4 door. American, German, Japanese, South Korean, British, what have you. Cars are in my blood, preferably ones that make your heart pump.
One thing to keep in mind when considering a 6 or an 8 cylinder Audi is that their engines require timing chain service every 60-80k miles. Now here is the kicker: in order to perform said service the engine needs to be removed as *the timing components are in the back of the engine*.
Dual clutch transmission are on there way out. Regular auto are much smoother and they car program them to shift quicker. Maybe not dual clutch quick but still pretty good
Ease, comfort, smooth, pampered, soft, slushy. All desirable attributes to truly enthusiastic drivers. Oh look! Another car with a bran new dual clutch! ruclips.net/video/CaFWyxLelJs/видео.html
It's not turbo lag, it's the typical Quattro with electronic nannies on and not in Sport Mode, so you could say it's TC and lazy tranny lag in non-sport. Notice nil lag when you put it in Sport, which livens up the throttle mapping and reduces the nannies which many mistaken for turbo lag. You may be able to further disengage the TC intervention for quicker reflexes. Nice review as always!
I driven both an 2014 Audi A5 coupe and an 2018 S5 coupe and the S5 has a mad acceleration. S5 is almost the best kept secret if you're renting a vehicle on Turo Sunday morning for $85. German's knew what they were doing building the AMG (Mercedes-Benz) , S series (Audi), and M Series (BMW)German masterpieces.
I think Sufjan expresses enjoyment through laughter and giddy noises too much now. He didn't use to do this. The problem is not that he's enjoying himself, but you've got to be able to describe the experience with words to make quality content
How do you double the value of a Kia/Stinger? Fill it up twice! You can't compare a German vehicle to a Kia... Really ...How can you compare a Stinger to a any Audi, BMW or Benz ??? Day and night comparison.
Would you say that the S4, equipped with dynamic steering and S sport package, have the same steering and ride feel as the S5 you just reviewed? Also, what's the benefit of going with the S5 sportback versus the S4? More Cargo space? Thanks, great video review as always!
I rented an S5 coupe through TURO when I was in Denver and looked up launch control in the owners manual.. it said it has it and gave directions on how to activate it BUT it seemed wonky to me. Did you get to read the manual? Thanks. Keep up the GREAT REVIEWS!!
How stupid is this comparison? Quatro VS rear wheel drive? Plastic interior vs the best car interiors in the industry...I walked out of an M4 for an RS5 it's way better in every way shape and form. The M4 is supposed to be the benchmark? BS!!
How is the map updated? Can it be updated thru WiFi if the car has the WiFi option, thus the map can always be pretty current. Or is it updated like a traditional navigation system thru annual updates that you pay for, thus the map could be quite old when compared to the map on your phone.
Virtual cockpit 360 camera, tri zone heating/ac, Audi connect, Apple Airplay, Android Auto, Twitter App, News App, Flight information, Google earth GPS, Google steetview Audi :)
Just saying he was talking about the stinger having less tech because he drove the US model. The Stinger also has carplay and droid auto plus rear seat vents with temperature controls and rear heated seats. As he said in the review the Kia gets ventilated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. Add on the fact its a hatchback and can seat 4 passengers comfortably and your argument for Audi is pretty unjustified. Really if I wanted to use google street view, check flights or the news id ratheruse my phone lol..not a joystick in a vehicle where the screen isnt touch interactive.
Considering an Audi A8 starts at about $85,000 yah id expect it to have a touch screen..I dont exactly understand where you're going with this. You can buy your Audi and pay a premium..Theres nothing wrong with it. But you can't argue its a better deal then a kia stinger with basically all the same tech plus more in some regards for $50k. When this Audi is roughly $18,000 more.
Rose Zara I think technically it’s call boost building now. Basically you put the car in dynamic, turn off traction control, step on the brake then the gas. It will hold revs and pre boost the turbo to reduce lag.
But you are here for reviews. You know what helps him afford to give us reviews?....Sponsors. Use your little hand, and move the video slider forward a little bit...boom, no watch ad. Carry on!
no remote start blows my mind. I haven't seen audi's app, but my GM app starts my engine just fine but is a bit of a hassle if you're already outside. The last thing you want to do is fiddle with your phone when a simple button with gloves on works just fine.
wei huang yeah, the consumer market is wanting more for less and audi will not be able to compete with Lexus, Genesis, Acura and to a certain degree Mercedes if they keep their prices this jacked for a car you get similar performance in through Kia's epic Stinger.
You can get one with cooled seats dude. The only seats you cant are the sports seats but those are still heated and on top of thst they also massage you. I'd take heated and massage seats over heated and cooled any day of the week. Cooled seats suck anyways just turn the damn ac on lol
Here's one thing to consider when comparing the Audi to the "cheaper" Stinger: if you like to do your own repairs or just want to make sure your mechanic is making the right diagnosis, for $300 you can get a "VCDS" interface that has 95% of the same functionality as the computer the dealer uses to talk to the car's systems. Such a device is not available for a Kia, or most other makes. That could easily save you $15K if you keep the car a long time and do your own work.
it's a blast. There's a bit of throttle lag initially on Drive mode, but once the torque kicks in, it just flies. Loving the exhaust note, not too loud, but loud enough to catch some attention. The throttle lag is eliminated in Sport mode, but I don't wanna be driving it in Sport mode yet, until I break in the engine. The transmission is frigging amazing. I am using paddles, shifts are really quick. I don't even miss the DSG. Absolutely loving it. I am finding myself just driving around town with no destination. And, not to mention, the car turns a lot of heads.
Right the stinger is a way better eye catcher then this Audi.. all these Audi’s, bmw, and Mercedes look the same.. you got the same people buying them just because of the logo!
The S5 Sportback is the best of the litter, and certainly worth the premium over the Stinger. A better question might be, is the RS version worth the premium over this S? I don't understand coupes, but the cabrio version makes for a sweet weekend or midlife crisis car.
Nikk Carroll you dont know what you’re talking about. Youve probably never driven a fully loaded KIA or even the luxury vehicles they have over in South Korea. KIA K900. Enough said.
I have to agree with the rest of the crowd.. Ive been watching various car reviewers over the years and many have went to blogging and clickbait. You guys do an amazing job and are growing on me. I can see this being the main car reviewing channel in 2018. Keep it up!
Evan Landauer, I agree! Redline Reviews is one of my favorite car reviewing channels! I can't wait to see what 2018 has in store.
Carwow is also pretty solid
Candyfloss I agree, the only problem is that they don't get the U.S. models.
Redline and Savagegeese for me
The best car reviewer is doug demuro
I personally don’t see people cross shopping the two. When one is shopping for an Audi they’re going to pretty much have their mind set on what they want, luxury with some performance. Those getting the Stinger will be looking for performance bang for buck. Both nice cars, just different buyers.
KevinIsFamous legit
with the exception of us enthusiasts who watch car reviews. :P
Well said, many people on here don't seem to understand that in the comments section.
I did think about getting a 3-4 year old Audi S5 sportback, but that car will be out of warranty, and have dated infotainment. Instead I got the Stinger, which has everything, carplay, infiinte warranty.
Would have been difficult to buy a 3-4 year old s5 sportback since they were just released this year in the states and last year in EU.
I have this car as a loaner and it is really fun. The engine note is fantastic. Even my 10 year old loves it! He said why would anyone buy a Tesla! Downshifts are amazing too! Burbles like a madman!
Finally someone that gives an honest comparison in prices. Give us more of your honest reviews like this and I'll keep giving you likes man. Good job
Every youtuber is suddenly a watch salesman.
Vadim A sounds like a pimp
It's because RUclips hates talented content creators and won't monetize their videos
At least have sponsor products that relates to their channels!!!
Andy Melonseed, so are the vacuum cleaners.
Ive heard soo much about mvmo whatever watches lol
This was published on my bday & Audi is my favorite brand. It must be a sign🤔🤔🤔
SUVs and Crossovers are the "00's pop music" of the auto world.
While the sedans and coupes are the golden age of rock and metal music.

In Australia (Australian dollars) S5 around $120k, Stinger GT around $70k.
Our decision is made for us.
I have an A5 and strongly looking at Stinger as replacement. The A5 without adds is in the same bracket as top of the range GT
Sucks to be you
I am going to try this model out today. But I wanted to say I love your reviews as you simply keep it real keep it up my friend!
You buy a coupe to treat yourself. This review was great man.👍 I’m subscribing
Best in-depth review of this car I’ve seen so far 👍🏿

Dylan Wodrich Said no one ever.
EluciaDeLuteIma your loss! Have fun paying 15k more for a badge!
no one? I am saying the same.
Dylan Wodrich I'd rather the stinger as well. I would love to see a singer coupe

As always, awesome review! The S5 Coupe is a pretty attractive looking vehicle, but I honestly prefer the Sportback styling a bit more. Keep it up! 👍🏽

I want one to but I can't afford the new ones lol. Looking at the B8.5s ones
Get a 4 series convertible instead. Hardtop is very nice and you can get the top down experience. It’s pretty big inside too.
Easy choice. If you have people/family to tow, or if you're the only one who's driving, then you know the answer. I have 2 kiddos, so sportback. Coupe has shorter wheelbase.. More maneuver I guess
Get the coupe babe
You compared a sedan to a coupe? Why didn’t you get the sportback for this video??
You,Nick Murray, and maybe motor trend are the best in the game.
*doug demuro*
Man your vbids are crisp & clear! I don't know what your doing but keep it up
Finally the S5!!! Been waiting for this one!
You guys do an excellent job with this channel. I like that there is absolutely no bias in your reviews and that you are very blunt with faults. Keep up the good work guys!

Excellent review. I just picked up 2018 s5 coupe red interior and you're right it's the perfect daily driver
Remember when the S5 used to have a V8?
Because today is turbocharged trend. Previous generation Audi S4 already used the NA V8
B6-B7 S4 engines would blow themselves up randomly. Hopefully these engines are more reliable.
Koji Takata
Shrinking the engines to be able to push them back and improve handling. It's a tradeoff.
Koji Takata ...I remember! I also remember when the (A4) B6 & B7s had a 4.2 liter v8. I had a 2004 with a stick. Loved that car !!!
There have been tons of B6/B7 S4s with over 200K miles including mine. Still feels brand new to this day. Interior is 95% perfect without any blemishes other than 2 buttons that have some wear in the soft touch.
What are the doors lined with? Is that alcantara or carpet?
Would definitely take a Kia Stinger over the Audi S5. Not only would the Kia stand out more on the road, but you get a lot more bang for your buck. Just because of the badge, don't judge the Stinger without driving it. I haven't had the chance to drive one, nor the money to buy one, but with all the reviews, Stinger is for sure a winner.
By standing out more, I mean I see Audi S series vehicles all the time on the road. Haven't seen a Stinger yet.
I agree 100%
Stinger has been only out for over a month. You must also love fake exhaust sounds? GAY
This car looks so amazing inside and out..just one of the best looking I've ever seen, specifically the sportback design. I love love love these. 💕
Good review as usual. Any idea when you will test drive an RS3?
My neighbor around the corner has one of the A5 sportier versions and my head turns whenever she drives around not just because the car is really great looking and has one of the best paint jobs around but because the sound that comes from the engine is amaing.
Fog lights are integrated into the headlight units
55-60k fully loaded would be very attractive. Pre-owned certified seems the best way to go for this car. 70k is just ridiculous at this point for this car.
Why is the coupe being compared to the Stinger? You should’ve used the Audi Sportback.
TheLifeOnHigh wrong again. C class Q60 4 series, Rc those are the competitor.
True. Stinger against Sportback.
You need to turn the TC off, trans in sport, hard on the brake, and press the accelerator until the boost gauge is at 1/4 to half then release the brake. No lag and it’s a monster
the stinger is such an amazing car, prob going to be my next car down the road! btw those white and blue watches are FIRE!
That was a great review of the S5! I love the way Sofyan thinks and his reactions with the Audi. His character is what attracts me to Redline reviews... not to mention how he likes Audi’s...that too 😉
The awkward moment you get on to a video SOOOO early, it only has 360p res. LOL
Mark Forbes how is that “awkward”
I've never been a big fan of Audi designs. But, I have to admit, these newer cars are growing on me. Great review guys!
lol the stinger sunglasses holder
Best car journalist on social media....he exudes class
I am not an Audi fan boy as I have never owned one but after testing merc, BMW and even genesis I ended up picking up a s5 sport I have owned other German cars and to be honest the interior on the Audi is miles ahead of the other offerings. After 3k miles I have zero complaints and I know it's early in ownership but this thing is high on my list of cars I have owned. Nice job on the review
Machz ok I'm officially jealous.
Machz nice choice!
Tbh every new Audi looks amazing. They're winning. Personally gonna get myself a CPO S3 when the right one pops up.
Elliot Jay CPO is the way to go! Well worth the year or two wait for 30% off MSRP lol
German car is another level I agree with it.
But we are talking about Kia not Toyota Honda compare with Audi
That's amazing!
Have an S5 sportback and I love it.
Stinger lease payment in Canada is almost same as Audi, because low residual value. Why buy Kia?
Stop leasing its the worse financial option
So had you purchased a Stinger GT2 a year ago you’d have lost $20k in value (seriously). If you bought an S5 however, maybe lost half of that, probably less. I bought and traded in a S3 after 4 months and only lost $1000.
Remember when the S5 was special and had some real curves and didn't look like every other VW product?
Liked your review, good job ! I understand your comparison (in a “bang for your buck” terms) but lets have this clear: Nobody (and I mean NOBODY) having the taste and money, and looking for a Sports Coupe in this segment would consider a Kia by ANY means. Kia did a fantastic job with that Stinger, but it sits in a different lower category. The potential buyer of the S5 Coupe will compare it vs the Mercedes Benz C43 AMG or BMW 440i Coupe. Keep the good job !
You're right. The S5 (and Audi models in general), is/are meant to compete with other German brands, not some "performance" S. Korean car.
@@hatchell18
Badge snobbery is simply not a valid argument.
@@khronin I disagree with everything you ssid and I don't care about resale value I wont be selling it
I just bought ceramic silver stinger GT2 awd with Napa leather seats for $49K that has 10 yrs power train warranty, I am not buying the S5 Audi for $68K not buying s5 hatchback for $62k.
what about resale value? better than A5/S5?
Fartem Thedj of course not lol
You still lost over 50% in 4 years... it's not an investment.
What was your down payment and ur monthly?
Paid $54k out the door cash. It just came out that day. I'm sure around April I could get better deal but it was a gift for my 73 yrs old dad. He wanted that car w gt2 pkg with awd and I got him exact car. Audi s5 hatchback was around $70k out the door so too much money.
i bought an S5 Prestige last Summer. I love the car.
As an enthusiast, please stop buying boring SUV's!
The Car Crazy Guy Just bought a 13 genesis coupe 3.8 a few weeks ago at 20 years old. Trying to keep our culture alive anyway I can
The Car Crazy Guy Thank you!!!
Great review as always. I don't why The Redline channel doesn't have a million plus subscribers?!?!?!?!
I driven both an 2014 Audi A5 coupe and an 2018 S5 coupe and the S5 has a mad acceleration. S5 is almost the best kept secret if you're renting a vehicle on Turo Sunday morning for $85. German's knew what they were doing building the AMG (Mercedes-Benz) , S series (Audi), and M Series (BMW)German masterpieces.
why is it getting so complicated to put a car in drive, or park? push this button wait for click, push this button wait for 2 clicks, ridiculous.
Steve Franklin this
So when it breaks it can cost a fortune to fix
Fuck that. Put it in first second third fourth fifth six seventh (if has) reverse
Ty _ undoubtedly.
I have a S5 Sportback, and its really annoying to use. And it doesn't even look good. The park button is really odd to use aswell
How many speakers and watts the Audi comes with ? And if it has a special option packaged let me know plz
I love the car review's! But I am also a watch lover and absolutely love Vincero watches.
Would you say that the S4, equipped with dynamic steering and S sport package, have the same steering and ride feel as the S5 you just reviewed? Also, what's the benefit of going with the S5 sportback versus the S4? More Cargo space? Thanks, great video review as always!
What an honest review! Although I don't think Audi would like how you constantly compare them to Kia! :P
Especially since the Stinger is the better car. Agreed. 😀
Just curious, why didn't you attempt to use launch control. That would negate any "lag" you felt.
Please come out with T-shirts! I’d love to have a redline review t-shirt and I really want one that says “It’s lined with felt”. XD
Joel West thanks for the suggestion, you could very well see something like that available this year. Stay tuned! :)
HAHAHAHA, or even "Nice solid thud."
"Soft touch everywhere"
Joel West xD
ALCANTARA LINED !
The stinger in Canada comes with more tech. 360 camera, rear heated seats, and a few more things. Certainly a better value over this Audi
TPike777 well New Audi A8 is touchscreen lol. Newer Audi’s coming next year going much more tech and driving dynamics than KIA sport car :).
Yea I don't understand why the US version doesn't have the 360 camera or wireless charger.. My Optima has those features.
Here I have a weird question - how do you think the Audi S5 compared to a Porsche Macan S in term of driving dynamic?
I rather get the Audi
I’d like to correct you and mention you CAN launch control the car. So cross that off the list!! Happy reviewing 😁
Rose Zara I think technically it’s call boost building now. Basically you put the car in dynamic, turn off traction control, step on the brake then the gas. It will hold revs and pre boost the turbo to reduce lag.
We not here for the watches. Haha
But you are here for reviews. You know what helps him afford to give us reviews?....Sponsors. Use your little hand, and move the video slider forward a little bit...boom, no watch ad. Carry on!
Kenny Laysh little ?
The S5 is always one of my favourite Audi models 😊
Not gonna lie, the stinger interior looks a lot better than the Audi
Then you havent sit in them :)
Read Stinger forums. Owners are complaining about trim pieces rattling and becoming misaligned.
no remote start blows my mind. I haven't seen audi's app, but my GM app starts my engine just fine but is a bit of a hassle if you're already outside. The last thing you want to do is fiddle with your phone when a simple button with gloves on works just fine.
$70,000 larger and still no Ventilated seat/Cooled seat,i will pass.
wei huang yeah, the consumer market is wanting more for less and audi will not be able to compete with Lexus, Genesis, Acura and to a certain degree Mercedes if they keep their prices this jacked for a car you get similar performance in through Kia's epic Stinger.
German companies nickle and dime you for every option.
It's an option you can get, but then tour stuck with just black perforated leather, no fine nappa leather.
You can get one with cooled seats dude. The only seats you cant are the sports seats but those are still heated and on top of thst they also massage you. I'd take heated and massage seats over heated and cooled any day of the week. Cooled seats suck anyways just turn the damn ac on lol
aww thats a shame Wei, I bet you were all set to buy one weren't you?
Great review. Question, is the massage inflated bladders or more of a shiatsu?
Audi bring back the wagon to US market.
I am picking up my custom built Navarra blue S5 Sportback next week. Can't wait
how did you enjoy the first few days so far
it's a blast. And, not to mention, the car turns a lot of heads.
i can imagine
have fun lol

@@fatredditmod I have to make a choice this week...do you still advice S5 Sportsback after a year?Which trim did you opt for?
Nice interior matching jacket. You appear in harmony and integrated, becoming one with the car. Did you pick that on purpose?
TBH, it kind if looks like a Kia Stinger to me in the front, but give me the Stinger.
xrcrx ftfghjg TBH, I could care less about resale value. Granted it looks good, but I think the Stinger looks more exciting and appealing to me.
rockn roll And not being American makes you feel any more superior? Yeah, get out of here.
I laugh heartily at you.
Nefrai Laysh By your comment, your ignorance alone is enough for me to laugh at.
Nice KIA Stinger case he has! LOL
Great reviews man on cars man ! Been following you for awhile keep up the great job !
Wish you would have done a review in the S5 sport back instead.
Appreciative that you included spare tire info...
Only 15k more than the stinger? That's a no brainer
Will the S5's quattro system allow you to make the rear end step out, or are you limited to understeer?
Build quality and interior of an Audi will always be Superior to KIA. No doubt
Nikk Carroll lol. Audi owner over here. Stock A3 and A4 are garbage.
Nikk Carroll you dont know what you’re talking about. Youve probably never driven a fully loaded KIA or even the luxury vehicles they have over in South Korea. KIA K900. Enough said.
hey what do you think about including average maint.. costs per year and such, or tire replacement costs
15k more for the Audi? Maybe 3k more. Stinger is the better choice.
