Snowy Winter Camping | How Much Fuel Does Our Propane Heater Use?

- Winter is here in the Pacific Northwest and we couldn’t wait to do some camping, even with a winter storm in the forecast. We woke up to a few inches of snow, but stayed warm and dry in our teardrop thanks to our Propex propane heater. We were curious as to how much fuel it would use overnight, running fairly constantly, so we weighed the tank before and after. We were surprised with the outcome!

That dinner looked DELICIOUS!!!
So good!
As a fellow teardrop camper owner, we just love your very well documented adventures. We have one season under our belt. We camped in mid April through mid October. I am trying to convince my wife who hates the cold to try some winter camping. You guys are always having so much fun. 😀 I have learned so much from your RUclips channel that really is a public service. We will be living vicariously through you all winter. 😂 Merry Christmas. 🎄
Well thank you for the very kind words 😌 This makes it all worth it! Once you figure out how to stay warm and comfortable it may become your favorite camping season! Have to at least try it once! Thank you for your support, Merry Christmas!! 🎄🔥❄️
Now that looked like a lot of fun! Love winter too! So many people don’t realize how great it is. But their loss is your gain because there are more campsites available! Score!
Indeed!!! 💯 So quiet, peaceful, beautiful!
I love that you two not only camp in the snow, but look forward to it!! I've always loved getting out in the snow - tent camping or a trailer or even a lean-to shebang when I was a whole lot younger! The pack-up is definitely harder when its cold, but worth it if you can take your time..
It really is the best. And working to overcome the challenges it brings is the best part!! 👌🏻❄️🍻🎄
How can anyone not like that camping setup. Looks great and cozy and comfy. Thumbs Up!
Thanks, Gary!! Cozy & comfy AF!!!
Icy landscapes conquered
Sunday morning with a coffee and a new WW video! Nothing better. :)
Yeah buddy! 😊 We need to get that coffee going!
Oh how's the new trailer!!? Any trips yet?
Trailer is good so far. No trips yet. I have a spot reserved for Ocean Shores in mid June. It's a spot I know...see what works and what doesn't with the teardrop, then go from there. Mentioned it to a few friends and I might have a few buddies joining me but we'll see what happens. It'll be the first camping trip post-tenting.
More butter shots please! And sticky butt warmers are a freaking great idea!
🤣🤣🤣 Coming right up buddy 📽️🧈🧈🧈🧈
I really enjoyed this video. Wonderful scenery, nice people, a terrific trailer. Thanks for producing this video.. Very peaceful
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you!
Love watching you guys, wish I could get the wife out winter camping with our homemade tear drop!
Thanks, Bill ☺️ Just need to figure out how to keep her cozy and warm!!
my wife's not into camping but my kiddos are soo into every season of camping
Love the winter.
💯!!!!!
Looks like a lot of fun! I love seeing the snow-covered trees.
Pan frying ribeyes when you have a open campfire just seems so wrong. ❤
Haha! We knew we'd hear about that! Honestly, on this night, we just wanted to cook in the galley 🤷🏻♂️
😂.. i used a Lodge 10" flat fryer wih ribeyes on a Peak One stove..They were good 🤪!.. The fire heated up the green beans.. 🤣...
Definitely need to get a cast iron 👍🏻
Too. Much water coming down!
Great video, and the snow fire place woods was all some …Aloha from Hawaii 🤙🏾
Absolutely stunning.
Love this time of the year ☺️
You two are my favorite RUclips couple! You have such great chemistry and the best life! Keep on doing what you’re doing! I have an ‘05 TJ and off road trailer and love camping!
Ah shucks 😊 thank you! Had a 97 TJ way back, miss her! Happy trails!!
Loved your video! Keep them coming, and Happy New Year!
Thank you! Will do!
Love your channel! I especially like your cocktail segment, it looks like you have so much fun doing it.
Thank you! So glad you're enjoying it ☺️ We have so much fun putting these together!

Good evening from there PNW 😊 Our pleasure. Thanks for joining us!

Yeah buddy!!! ❄️🍻🎄🔥🎅🏻
Love your set-up. Would love to try winter camping . Have all we need just need to get out and do it .
Don't wait, get out there! No regerts!!
Steaks looked great
💯🥩👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Fave part of Sunday morning❤ Hello from DE!
☺️ Made our day once again 😊 Happy Holidays from WA!! 🎄❄️🎅🏻
You guys are so fun!
We just returned from a 1 night camp with our teardrop too, but our winter camp weather isn’t as frigid as yours (SoCal, overnight low 40*).
Another great video!👍 Keep it up!
Nice! At least you're getting out there!! Thank you 😊 will do!!
Steak looks yummy.
So good 😋🔥🥩
Loved the video and the area you were in. Is that upper California or further north. It is beautiful where ever it is . I see its PNW somewhere. . Really nice !
Central cascades of Washington State 😉👌🏻
That was a great first snow camp of the new season and your steak and shrimp dinner is making it hard to eat my morning oatmeal 😂. Propex heater definitely looks like the way to go for efficiency.
Funny we missed each other on the road by less than an hour, thanks for blazing the trail.
😅 Well... It's not too late for breakfast surf n turf lol. Still can't believe we just missed each other 🤣 Road is unfortunately now closed for the season. On to the next!! 🌲❄️
@@WheresWiseman closed for the season…guess I’ll have to find a different road to get stuck on.
🤣 yes!! Love it
Winter camping. No bugs, food tastes better and the fire is more inviting.
💯!!!!
🌲wise"camp"man❄️
Nice. My squaredrop is uninsulated, can't wait for it to get down to -25 here to see if I can keep warm.
🤯 sounds fun!!
Nice video you two!! Great job and looks like you had a good time!! After freezing our butts off during our Thanksgiving trip we're ready to get our trailer soon :) Have you had propane issues? Looks like maybe the cover you have for yours helps, also the large tank. Our small one doesn't work well at all in the cold weather.
Thank you! Lol still looked like a fun trip though 👍🏻 We need to get down there. Surprisingly no tank issues. Especially down around 20! We've only had issues in the past when it was low and using it with our fire pit. I'm going with the bag and staying up close to the trailer helping.
@@WheresWiseman Which bag is that you use?
Awesome scenery in this video! Going back in on the 19th for another round of kidney stone removal ( if I make it that far- wtf!!??). Anyway, this takes my brain away from the pain. Thanks!
Dang 🙏🏻 wish you the best!! Glad we can help ease your pain!
@@WheresWiseman haha, thanks. This is getting to be ridiculous!!
Love the little camper, but no place to watch xmas movies lol
🤣 plenty of room inside to setup a tablet 👍🏻🎅🏻 next trip 😉
Hoping we get some snow here this winter. It’s been cold all week, then warms up to 70 degrees and starts pouring rain…. So close 🤣
😅 Best of luck!!! 🙏🏻❄️❄️❄️
Have you done a tour of the inside of the tear drop.. Would live to see it.. Actually looking at a used one my self right now.
We have! Most recent here 😉 ruclips.net/video/1OddwXtwQ5Y/видео.html
Now that's a proper carnivore meal.
💯🥩🦐🔥👌🏻
Not too keen on any Jeep after '06 but I do like a few of the 2 doors, like this well built Sahara. Great stance and really dig that military olive green. Is that a 3" lift on 37's?
Appreciate that 😉 Close! 3.5" MetalCloak on 37's. Left the original fenders on so it'd look more stock. Might take them off someday though to get some more clearance 👍
I was hoping to see the inside set up of the camper.
We'll have to do that soon!
Yo’ Matt, are those the Rugged Ridge XHD wheels.
? 👍
They are 👍🏻 After many years and miles, no complaints whatsoever 🤘🏻
Great video! What look do you use on your Roam case? Thanks
*Lock*
Thank you!! We'll have to check for ya. Went through a few before we could find one that works.
Pardon me ,I would have put those ribeye steaks next to the fire and save your frying pan(but that's just me:)
Next time 😉
yall are very adventurous... pulling a teardrop with only a quarter tank of gas in your jeep 😅. did you have to pop it in 4wd at all? Great video as always
🤣🤣🤣 🤷🏻♂️
We did over the pass 👍🏻 It was fun 🤘🏻🤪🤘🏻
Surf n turf mmmm
💯🦐🥩🔥
What jacket is Matt wearing ? Thanks
Gerry Men’s Puffer Jacket from Costco. Looks like they may have a different version online now?? Good coat, did add some waterproofing 👍
How much condensation are you experiencing in the trailer?
With the propex heater and a window and the maxxfan cracked an inch, hardly any! It is amazing. Just around the metal door and window frames 👍🏻
What kind of heater do you have
Propex www.propexheatsource.com/
Why did you unhook the Jeep if only staying overnight?
Had to to get'r level 👍🏻
Amigo I live in the woods for years kp healthy by hunting etc.But one thing I can tell you never cook after six in evenings the predators smells the food for miles another thing always build small fires around you camp north south east west like a cross predators are afraid of fires or the smell of smoke you don't how dangerous is to live in the woods with that tiny RV camper you can't even have a chance to stand up or a back up option I my self camp alone with hardly anything a crossbow a knife a Axe and lighters and others small things to kp alive must of the time I build my own place fast and kp a eye and ear open for dangerous predators becareful out there ok that camping stuff is not Hollywood in the woods the woods is reality ok take care
The answer is one pound of propane.
Nailed it lol
3 lb
Close! We still can't believe how little it uses!
4.5 lbs.....
We thought it'd be closer to that as well!!
Where do I start? Hummm first those mugs can’t be insulted are they, secondly your in Washington look out for Bigfoot hahaaaaa why the worry about 1 night propane use? We do a week trip in October to the Miracle Mile in Wyoming this year the temp was in the low 30’s on average. I have a 19 foot Travel Trailer had the heat going almost constantly Cooked every meal inside and 2 showers. Took me 6 days before emptying a 20 pounder. 🤷🏻♂️ I live in Colorado winter camping is insanely fun. Unless you get snowed in.
That's amazing!! Don't know why we ever worried 😅 Guess we should just stick to worrying about Sasquatch 🤷🏻♂️
