I watched David’s father Dom DeLuise in a lot of Mel Brooks films and the Muppet Movie when I was younger. Then when Wizards came on I recognized the last name from somewhere. And I can see the resemblance. Did you ever meet any other actors like Gene Wilder,Marty Feldman, or Madeline Kahn?
Please let David go into as much detail as possible, regarding behind the scenes of the industry! We don’t find it boring, we find it FASCINATING!! It’s super educational! I really wish Jennifer would let him talk about whatever David wants. He never stops and interrupts her or call her stories stupid or boring. LOVE this podcast, but we want all the stories that David has to tell!!

I would’ve loved to hear the story about David being served papers. Love this pod but sometimes I think Jennifer is quick to cut David off when she thinks viewers won’t be interested in something. We’re all adults now - we like hearing about how real life affected the show.

i would love to hear any of david's stories without having jen roll her eyes and claim he's 'pulling a deluise' explaining something to people who aren't in the industry/familiar with standard protocol is common courtesy - and the whole point of a podcast is to have a lengthy conversation!

To add to your comment, it would be nice to hear them expand on some of the on the set stories and antics as well. I.e. the prank war...
I think we all appreciate when David is telling his stories. We all are grown up now, and it’s very exciting to hear what he has to say.

I love both of them, but I really appreciate how David elaborates on how things affected his life personally and explains things in a layman’s terms way. A lot of us don’t know how all of this would work. I would love to hear so much more from him. He’s a gem, as is Jennifer!
I wish they would've done a movie about how the parents of Wizards of Waverly Place met & how Jerry had to give up his powers to be with Teressa! We didn't get to see the process! 😎
My only gripe is when Jen cuts off David saying viewers/listeners are falling asleep or they don’t care about what what he’s saying 😢 I want all the content! Idk if it’s a joke but the listeners do care !

@@Finn_River Yes! I mentioned in a different video it seems like they were on a strict time limit for some reason. Jennifer always wraps up the episode and it kind of comes off as forceful.

Yea those are the juicy bits and shows a lot of what happens in the industry which is what I want to know. I think it is a running joke but that's the stuff I want to hear among other things.
They only changed the opening (also a new edit of the song) in the 4th season.

Every time David explains industry I get excited. I find it interesting .
Guys! We will watch 2-3 hours every Monday! I wanna hear allll of David and Jen’s stories! But I understand that Jen has a real life j-o-b and being in a time crunch in the brain all of the time. I do too and I understand that feeling of never having enough time. I’m always looking at the clock. So Jen is so relatable. But, whatever time you can give us for stories- we are here for it! Every second!! We’re not sleeping!!! ❤🎉
I would’ve liked to hear the served papers on set story. I’m not sure how far out these are recorded, but I do wish Jen that you wouldn’t cut David off so much. The things he wants to talk about from behind the scenes and how things work is exactly what we want to be hearing. I know you’re used to hearing this stuff and it can seem boring to you, but we find it fascinating since we’ve never heard them and don’t know how things work. When you want to roll your eyes and poke fun at him for “pulling a DeLuise”, that’s when you should let him keep going. There are so many stories or thoughts that he starts that get cut off that I’m bummed to miss out on. Love the pod otherwise. It’s fun to hear what you both have to say.
This! It's been common criticism, so I think she knows. I'm thinking we won't see a shift until a "second season"
It makes me so sad to hear David call himself fat. I never saw him as fat as a kid. Even when they made fat jokes, I thought they were pushing it. Sure, he was a big guy, but he was never "fat." He reminded me of a big teddy-bear-like guy.
Jen acknowledging she was being bossy to David like that 😂 I love hearing David's stories and what he has to say. Nothing is boring. Us viewers and listeners aren't falling asleep 😅

No I knew it was re-recorded because the styles were soooo different. You can hear 1. How they mixed and mastered the song differently the second time 2. They added an intro to make it more of an actual song song and 3. The maturity of Selena’s voice after practicing her vocals more over the series and just growing up in general. Honestly I love the second version more because it’s so well done, and obviously her vocal chops had grown and improved so much by season 4

Jennifer, 1 you are so gorgeous, your character on wizards was a comfort character for so many people and your transition into nursing is really inspiring and awesome and I just think you're a great person :) love this podcast. But ive noticed in every episode that some of the things that you note as boring and try to move on from quickly (like technical processes and stuff like that) are THE MOST INTERESTING THINGS TO HEAR ABOUT!! because people who arent in the industry have no idea how that stuff works and it's really cool to hear about it!!! The emotional experiences and behind the scenes fun facts are my favorite part of the show for sure, i eat it up when yall talk about the overnight sensation that was the show and allude to grievances with the writers (like who tf did David piss off in the writer's room for them to make every other line of his a meanspirited joke about him being fat when he was perfectly fit and it wasnt even funny) or backstage drama or wholesome moments but please go into more detail about technical aspects of the industry and things like that!!! It's not boring
I don’t like whenever Jennifer cuts David off or says “all the fans are falling asleep” or says “deluise moment” because they are usually the most interesting parts of the episodes and the business side of things are genuinely intriguing.

Something about her seems disingenuous, always cutting off david or making him feel like what he talks about is a snoozefest, like the episode with selena she seemed salty and annoyed with how excited David was to talk with her, like when he gets emotional and he cries and she's like waterworks again???? It's annoying

I’m so glad they addressed Dean!!! I loved him for Alex as a kid and one day he was gone and Mason replaced him. I still prefer Dean with Alex than Mason 😩 Hopefully they can get him on the pod! Would love to know why his character got scrapped
i have a not so great father-daughter relationship so hearing david literally brag about his dad is so heartwarming
y’all can’t come for the season 4 theme song, it was TOP TIER. It was so sultry and it sounded more grown up than the original, which i think made sense with both the characters and the viewers! deserved a grammy argue with the wall
They can state their opinions, it's their podcast. Also they were talking about the images and how it didn't look as good as the first one, the pictures that were put up there during the song, not the sound of the song itself. The first theme song was really cute with them all doing different things.

They rerecorded and remastered the theme song, and Selena sounded so much more mature and whimsical, the remastering is also much higher quality!
Usually I don’t agree with Jennifer when she’s like “the fans are falling asleep” but at this point I agree with her like I get David’s dad is a legend but this podcast isn’t about him it’s about you two & Wizards
They both are repeating a lot and we are just now at #7. I love this podcast but I'm nervous that they aren't gonna have much to talk about pretty soon. Maybe they should review 2-3 episodes at a time in the future?

I honestly forgot until the end of the episode where they’re talking about hits Selena really connected with her fans and did it in such a special that I remembered when I was younger I used to send fan mail to all the Disney channel stars and the only one who ever sent anything back was Selena. She sent me a signed photo and postcard. She really does care
I really resonated with Jen's "I needed to be taken down a peg" anecdote because I had a life experience where I learned the same type of thing and I'm eternally grateful for it. And it feels nice that somebody else feels that way too.
Honestly, they don't talk about each episode much. I'd love to see them comment on specific scenes even if they weren't part of it instead of only talking about the few scenes they remember off the top of their head.

In regards to the paparazzi thing: honestly I would prefer photos were arranged by the celebrity because I hate how intrusive and cruel some photos are. I’d prefer to know the celeb is happy with the photos being public rather than them being uncomfortable/upset about it
Yes they definitely remixed the theme sang and it is more chill and slower than the original
The Intro song, got a revamp in the latest season, it was so weird to hear it, when you grew up with the OG... but yeah it was more "modern" and more electronic inspired

8:00 so the title sequence was the same for three seasons, but for the third season, it was adapted for widescreen, because that was when widescreen happened across the network.
I love hearing about the random “DeLuise” behind the scenes facts. Since I don’t work in television I find them really interesting. Keep them coming 📺🎬🎥🎞️🍿
To be honest, I understand where Jennifer is coming from about wishing Harper had been in the movie more, but I think that this specific movie storyline worked better because Harper wasn't in it. The plot of the movie was about how Alex felt like everyone was against her, and the movie HEAVILY explored Alex and Justin's dynamic because they only had each other to depend on. I just feel like the severity of the situation wouldn't be as strong if Harper had been there because she's sort of a glue that holds people together, and would've been Alex's main support which would've changed the severity of the situation. The severity of the situation is what makes the resolution so strong. For the storyline to stay the exact same while adding Harper into the mix, Alex and Harper's dynamic would've had to be completely different from what we know of it to be, which would've ruined the dynamic of their friendship. Harper just didn't work with the storyline that they were trying to tell with the first movie. I also understand Jennifer's feelings about wanting to rewrite Alex and Harper's dynamic in the movie, but at that point in time, I think Alex and Harper's dynamic was written fine. It wasn't until Season 3 where their dynamic started evolving in my opinion.
As beautiful as the relationship between Alex and Harper is, I think the show has always been more about the relationship between Alex and Justin and their sibling rivalry, and I think that's why the movie worked so well since it banked on that concept. The stakes were high and the only people that Alex and Justin could depend on were each other. Wizards had a lot of beautiful relationship dynamics, but the sibling dynamic between Alex and Justin is the strongest one. I personally feel like that's why you could tell something was missing in the Alex vs. Alex movie. It just didn't hit the same beats as the first film without Justin physically being there to bring out the best and worst in Alex in a non-literal sense.
I do understand where Jennifer is coming from however, and it is unfortunate, but the Wizards movie was so good the way it was, and I'm glad we got to explore Alex and Harper's friendship much more in the series in Season 3 rather than the movie since it allowed for it to feel much more fleshed.
Totally true but I would've loved to see random inserts of Harper off on her own doing her bits. Wouldn't interfere with the dynamic but still include her in a great way.

After listening to this podcast, I turned the show on for my kids, aged six and nine, and they absolutely loved it. My little guy was cackling at all the funny parts and my nine-year-old is now walking around singing the theme song. 😍😍

The reason why I love the Ned’s declassified school survival guide podcast is because they get personal and share a lot of things, I wish this episode had more of that and less of Jen saying something is boring and we’re all falling asleep because I actually love those topics and wish David got to share more. 😢

The original theme was upbeat and the kids getting ready for school and the newer theme was in the crystal ball and was sung with like a whisper
Please make these an 45 min to an hour long. I love listening to these on my long Monday drives to work. And we LOVE hearing from David, the behind the scenes and technical aspects are easily some of my favorite. Please, lengthy conversations. We are not sleeping.
I’m always excited for what David is going to say and then it is interrupted, using the audience as a scapegoat saying we are uninterested or falling asleep.
Jen has a resemblance to a young Marilyn Monroe when she was Norma Jean. They even have the same hair color

Everyone from the show is such a gem. Maria’s daughters used to compete against my school in show choir and she would come to the shows. She had no problem taking pics with all of us! And she was always so professional and pretty.

I lovveeee this podcast!! I get so excited to see a new upload. My only issue is I wish Jennifer would let David talk more. The back and forth is great, but she interrupts him when telling a story and it gets hard to listen to.
In the suit life of zack and coady crossover episode Alex does use the suitcase spell for harper to come out of the suitcase they should of add that to the movie so harper can be part of the movie
i remember thinking this EXACT same thing when watching the movie when i was younger 😭!
Seems like this didn’t happen because the movie was written by new people and produced by new people.. David said it seemed like they didn’t watch the tv show so that’s probably why. But I agree, that would have been so much better if Harper appeared like that in the movie!
My sons loved this show growing up! It was one of the only one that I truly enjoyed watching with them, you guys always made us laugh! We are loving this podcast 😊😊

Disney changed the theme songs for the 4th season of most of their shows (look at live & maddie or hannah montana) I *believe* this is because most Disney shows (at the time) end up with 2-3 seasons (as is written into most cast contracts) so when they get the 4th it means the show is *REALLY* popular so sometimes they decide to update the theme song and/or slightly revamp it

they said something about seeing selena soon in december when she was on the show, so i'm guessing it was pre-recorded sometime last year.

i know the exact scene david was talking about with him launching himself into the trash cans and it was the hardest i laughed throughout my entire wizards rewatch. i tell ppl about that scene and no one remembers

LMAAAAOOOOOO NOT ME SEEING THE EPISODE HE THREW HIMSELF INTO THE TRASH CAN THAT WAS HILARIOUSSSSSS LOOKED LIKE HE GOT HURT😂
Personally, what I would change about the show was them actually calling into question the problematic system of the Wizard World. I'm surprised Alex of all people didn't start doing protests against only one sibling getting to keep their powers (The Wizard Competition is a MAJOR mess that is f*cked up), wizards not being able to marry non-wizards (Despite that they are allowed to be with vampires, werewolves, and angels), and that other magical creatures are basically slaves to wizards (Genies, pocket elves, leprechauns, etc.). Not to mention how Stevie, the one character who actually calls attention to this problematic system, is villainized for just wanting justice and fairness and ended up dead. I also would've not made Max so dumb. It felt like his character got no real respect. Not to mention, I honestly couldn't stand Justin's character. I still really enjoy the show but you can like a show while still admitting its major flaws. The cast is great with awesome chemistry and I love a lot of the clever one-liners. Also, Harper's outfits were absolutely iconic.

I've never watched the Disney show but imagine my surprise when I realize this is the lady who played the main character in Santa Girl. Underrated movie. We quite enjoyed it as a family!

i love this pod so much but i do have a critique:
its interesting to hear yalls lives outside the show and during it but it gets annoying when jen thinks we dont find it interesting or cuts off david when he’s starting a story. its like there are thousands of people listening to this, so there will be people who want to hear these niche things but i also think there should be a little bit more structure on when yall improvise versus when yall should talk about wizards.

Shame she didn't like the movie because it had such a good storyline between Alex and Justin and their relationship as brother and sister as well as they're familial bond with Max and their parents.

YES JEN THEY CHANGED IT😅. The song (lyrically) itself was the same but the background vocals/setup was different.
They definitely redid the song. The first version was a pop song, and the second version was a little more funky tone and it was awesome
Yeah the song got remixed for season4. As far as I remember they re-recorded it with Selena and her band „Selena and the Scene“.
Never in my life would I have thought there would be a pod cast about my favourite childhood show. My inner child is out!!!!
I think the Paparazii should only be doing their work when someone calls for them.. The amount of unwanted Paparazzi pictures thousands of celebrities have complained about are definitely a problem, so them finally switching it up and taking that into their own power is kinda it 😩😩💖💖💖💖
