  • I have a happy dilemma: a stash full of beautiful yarns screaming KNIT ME KNIT ME and I can't decide which to pick for my next big project. The front runners are three very special yarns made by small producers that I love. What do you think?

      @maeveenroute 3 года назад +11

      Oh, likewise! These videos are so soothing - not in a soporific way, but in that way that feels like you're in knitting group with your favorite people, and you're feeling kind of quiet but that's okay, because the person with all the good stories has the floor, and you know you're just where you need to be.
      And frankly, I don't think many of us are getting that feeling much lately, so it's awfully nice when it comes around!

      @@maeveenroute Oh gods yes!!! I'm not even sure if there's knitting groups in my area, and I hate the fact that my anxiety would probably flare up just badly enough to make me not go. Watching Franklin is like meeting with old friends and catching up with them over knitting and good beverages.

    I found a very bright neon yellow skein of sock yarn a few years back. I made myself the loudest pair of socks ever. I'd tell people they could see/hear me from a mile away when I wear them. Then one day my hubby thought he'd be nice and do my laundry including the pair of socks on the floor next to the hamper. They felted down to a size even too small for my youngest daughter to wear. I miss my loud socks!

    The light(ing) was very antique :-) When you said textured I had to think about a friend of mine who did a lot of unknitting because the pattern was so simple, just 4 needles, 2 knit needles and 2 needles with 2x2 rib. At the picture I saw it looked just like cables, but it isn't. Maybe you can swatch that in misfit yellow and think yay or nay. See Ya next time.

    Having just about finished with my S.A.B.L.E. reorg, I'm having the same issue. I found lots of yarn that I want to make 'something for me' but can't decide which yarn or what I want to make. I love lace but I need another shawl, shawlette or lace scarf like I need another hole in my head! In addition to the yarn hunt, I also found most of my UFO's and have been whittling them down to a reasonable & doable list. My ears perked when you mentioned Northern Lights. Husband & I went to Block Island a few years ago and he actually made me buy yarn! We also got a tour of the mill thrown it!

Some people have what I call “fancy yarn” (fancy yarn just means it’s yarn I can’t afford lol) and they sorta act like everyone should be able to afford it. I'm so happy to find your channel here. I had come across your piece on your first-ever trip to a yarn shop and then read your book reviews at MDK but didn't know you were doing video.
