In the description box I have left a link to Ted’s backpack if you’re looking for a good pet travel carrier. I’ve also left links to the pet friendly hotels we stayed at.
    UK friends,
Is customer service in the UK usually this difficult or were we just unlucky? Nothing upsets me more than wastefulness and there really was no solution when it came to getting rid of our furniture than to call a rubbish company. We would have loved to have listed our items on Facebook marketplace or other furniture selling sites had we known that the charity shop was not willing to accept our donations. We also called around homeless shelters and asked our landlord/letting office if the new tenants would want the furniture. What would you have done in this situation??

I suspect that if you had had enough time, and had known that BHF would not take your furniture, your local authority would have taken your stuff for a nominal fee. £400 was a total rip-off and I am disgusted on your behalf that you were treated so badly

Last week, I traveled with my cat (first time ever with a cat) from France to Tampa, via Atlanta. My cat is a super scared and shy kitty. At the security check they had me remove her harness, leash, small blanket, and I had to hold her in my bare arms to pass through the security gate. I was terrified that she freaks out and jump out of my arms. Some of those officers were mean, one of them suggested coldly that I have the option to keep my cat in her carrier and pass her that way through the x-ray machine, with all the trays and people's stuff! I'm glad to have replied to her: would you put your baby or child through the machine?? My cat did not jump and we made it safely, but that was a moment I'd never forget. Though all is not done, as I have to go back to France with her in about 4 months and just the thought that we'll have to go through this again makes my heart sink, but I try not to think about it.

@@GoddessIdunn True, you can, and I did for the last leg of our trip when we had to pass security again. My cat wasn't less scared to get out of her carrier but I was. I felt safe she couldn't go anywhere if she escaped my arms, so that was very good actually.

thank you so much for your videos flying with Tedward! I binged them all today in preparation for my flights with my cat in 3 weeks! And I'm sorry about the furniture going to waste :( that would bother me for a long time too!
I saw that you mentioned not giving him Gabapentin for the flight! My vet recommended it but I'm thinking of forgoing it since it seems to only work for him if he's not in stressful situations! He's an adventure cat so he's used to being out and about but I'm worried being drowsy while out would stress him out more than being lucid...
I have a 12-hour layover for one of my flights, which I'm dreading... but I'm hoping for the best! Thankfully I'll be with my husband so I won't have to do it alone!

Hi there! Really enjoyed your video and it was very useful to get an idea of how it is to travel with a cat as my partner and I are also moving back to our country after several years living in the UK. Can I ask, are the dimensions of the carrier that you used the same that appear in the link? It seems they are a bit over AirFrance guidelines (19'' x 11'' x 9''). Did they give you any trouble?

    • @clowderlibrary
      @clowderlibrary  2 года назад +2

AirFrance didn’t give us any trouble. We even asked about it at check-in. When we got to the gate no one gave us issues. We also didn’t have any issues with flight attendants. Of course, there’s always the risk that you might run into the one person that is super strict but in all the traveling I’ve done with my cat I’ve never had any issues. Our cat prefers the backpack to other carriers we’ve used but we did have a traditional carrier that was collapsible and smaller on hand in case anyone had a problem with the backpack.

      Hi,
Are you sure you’re booked for in cabin? I’ve never heard of any airlines allowing animals in cabin to or from London. What airline are you flying with?? It’s listed on the UK embassy website that animals can’t travel in cabin. I would definitely reconfirm with your airline and the embassy.

I do not understand who you must be calling in the UK. I moved around _a lot_ doing IT contracts and whenever I moved, I would get a deep cleaning company in and literally every time it would be one phone call or one Web site query. They would ask questions about the size of carpets to be cleaned, which floor if I was in an apartment. how many rooms etc. what is is I wanted done ("do you need windows cleaned" etc.etc.).. And they would turn up on time and get promptly to work. You seem to have been unlucky - or I was multiply blessed...

I have a few friends who live in other places in the UK and they’ve told me they’ve had similar issues with companies ever since the pandemic 🫠-so I’m glad I’m not alone. The whole thing was just bizarre. It’s like these people didn’t want our money 🙃

It must just be Salisbury :). There are ony 5 cleaning companies I could find and I called them all. Must've been bad luck.
The furniture situation was just a bummer because I had setup the appointment a month in advance (they book up fast). We were not anticipating that they would not take any of the furniture, especially since half came from them. I spoke with the manager at BHF and he said they have been having an issue with some drivers going rogue and not picking up what they should be. It put us in a tight spot and unfortunatley no one else could take the furniture so we just had to send it to the dump. What a waste.
Anyhoo, everything else about Salisbury and England was great 👍

@@journeyisending contacting the USDA is the best chance you have at getting clear answers. Considering I recently came in with my cat and they asked for a rabies vaccine I’d get it for your cat. Only advice I can give for getting them to stay calm is to get a spot in the back of the plane and then having a blanket to cover them so they’re in darkness. I wouldn’t recommend any sort of medication. That didn’t work for my cat. Honestly there isn’t much you can do to prevent them from crying. All you can really do is prepare them. Get them used to their carrier so they see it as a safe place. Put some items in their carrier that have your smell on them.
