One of the reasons (not the only one...) why that happens is that actually it seems there is a portion of 250-300Mhz that is legal for on-road communication in Brazil. Not everything you hear in there is illegal use, simply legal comms that are "bleeding" into the satellite. There are a couple of youtube videos explaining this phenomenon.
Hi, Paul. Yes, You're right about AM avia. The point is that beken chip can't work in AM, but chinese guys are very tricky, so they adopted fsk mode for AM reception. But there no AGC for that, so when You're receiving strong AM signals - K5 is barking. It is quite ok with weak or medium signals. On CB with it's poor sensitivity it works good

It is a really lovely radio considering the price. The fact that it has a way of loading hacked firmware makes this an ideal test device. Receiving up to 850Mhz in AM (Dedicated firmware) is a game-changer. Lots of military air frequencies in the upper bands. This device has that option, the quality isn't excellent but hey, Uniden costs a lot more.

HI-FI speakers have wadding/foam in there cabinets for making sound better,i would try a piece of foam not too thick and cut so to cover the size of the the speaker and let the speaker rest against it before re assemby it may dampen the case a bit.
I'm too lazy to translate it all but in general it's russian soldiers communication. You were right they were talking not very nice, at least 70% are swearing and threats. They were under friendly fire of artillery. Lost a lot of soldiers. And they couldn't communicate with artillery so it was keep hitting them

Zvetseni kapacity pridanim 680pF orizne tyto vysoke tony a zmena odporu na 270k zvetsi celkove zesileni. V konecnem dusledku je zvuk bohatsi na stredove tony a zmizi neprijene vyskove syčení.

Hey Paul, I have 2x K5 and 1x K6. Both perform the same. Airband is no good on all 3. :( I got them for wideband receive mainly for monitoring. I want to try the fimware hack to play with. Thanks for showing the radio in action, fun listening.😊
I bought it too, but I have to say that there are miles between a Yaesu and a Quansheng, not only in terms of price but also in terms of transmission and reception quality. For example, I use my Quangsheng at the sea and everywhere where I just don't want to take my Yaesu with me. The flight radio receiver is completely unusable.

Hi, very interesting, thanks. On my own UVK5 the AM is *a little bit* better but the on SATCOM band, it's completely deaf! I need a specific antenna just to hear anything. I find that AM in "Narrow" bandwidth setting is a bit clearer but maybe that's just in my head. If it's not indiscrete, in which Aliexpress shop did you buy yours? I'm not sure whether some discount shops sell the 2nd quality/defective TRX's rejected by bigger companies as they do with components or is it just a global quality control issue at the factory...
I think the AM issue is in all those radios. All reviews I have seen was the same - poor AM reception. I guess it has something to do with poorly set or designed AGC system on the circuit or DPS. Hi, these are classic repeaters. They have uplink+downlink frequencies without any encryption or tone required. These satellites are an analog systems from 70's and 80's.
Russian guy is talking: "Our positions were attacked, a lot of "300" (wounded), point of evacuation is ... , repeater, send the message that we need an evacuation... " They have some communication issues. Looks like they were shelled by friendly fire, and the guy is yelling that he is about to shoot everyone

This sounds like the transmission of a recording, that is endlessly repeated , which would just block or use a frequency. Its debatable as if this is a Russian or American satelite.
Very interesting recording. It's NOT Ukrainian, it's a 100 % russian. These are pretty different languages, as is, for instance, Polish and russian. Almost half of the text in the recording is a top collection of series of russian swear words, and in between, it's all about the friendly power and someone asking somebody to stop the fire as there are many woonded and killed and because of that the evacuation is needed. I think its bend pipe with no nodulation, it recieves, what ever, change the frequency and amplifies it. So the military can use digital nodes and everything
