Winter of 1978, my first in Troy, NY. I used to shut off all the lights, leaving only the faint ambient turquoise from my Radio Shack REALISTIC Tuner to fill the room, crank up the volume, and immerse myself in the switching of the sounds in the first 1:42 from left to right to left speakers, which I had set far apart. I was 26, in love with love, in love with music....
thank you for this memory
"in love with love" 😭
This one by Chuck holds a lot of sentimental value to me. As my grandmother lingered in the final few days of her life during a second (unsuccessful, but valiant) battle with colon cancer, I played this one often (even at her bedside). I could vividly imagine my grandfather (who passed earlier this year, too) waiting for her on the other side so they could partake in that “last dance” together somewhere out there. Love and miss my Nana and Pops so much; may they continue to rest easy.
Is that what Chuck wanted? For us to all attribute our own (or family) meaning of the last dance? My wife left me 3 days ago. We hugged for what seemed like hours. I was showing my son some great albums and reminded me of this. Im listening to this with tears in my eyes for "our last dance".
There's some damn foreplay right there!
