I've been thinking I can't be the only one who has gone through trauma. I scream "leave me alone!!" But my stress returns saying "Nate why can't you let me go?!?" The search begins to find hope. When I grow up I'll say "I miss the days when I wasn't like this always being worried about money or what others think of me." I hate myself I wish I could change but there are no excuses. During the interlude of my happiness I often wonder if I choose the right option. I just need some time.
This song, which was a exercise he had to do in inpatient therapy, shows he had a good counselor. It shows the age where the PTSD hit Nate (my guess when he was first traumatized and beat by his mom's boyfriend. And the problems kept coming with no childhood therapy.... resulting in Nate's mental condition today.
This has to be one of my favorite songs from this album. Goosebumps and tears every time I hear it. I recently read someone comment that WHEN NF wins a Grammy (or multiple), to see him perform this song with the choir behind him would be unbelievable. I agree.

He was referring to humanity not his disciples. Humanity is intentionally being morally corrupted. Why? For what purpose? Does anyone deny the existence of morality or are we gonna wait for them to change the definition of that to allow being immoral cause that’s where we are! I pray we can find our way back to reality cause it seems like most people don’t realize they’ve been socially conditioned (fancy term for brainwashing) to be hateful to their own species. How’d we get to the point of using a euphemism for murdering an unborn child in the womb? Is that not what abortion is. We commit this atrocity and call it women’s health services. How much more dystopian does it need to get for people to realize how truly depraved we’ve become? Man idk about you I ain’t religious, I don’t read the bible but I feel so utterly compelled more and more to help me wake my brothers and sisters up and allow them to see the evil of our ways and allow us to change. I can’t not see these evils. We have inverted views of different aspects of reality that seem extremely harmful to our own existence and almost all are a result social influence through “culture changes” which are controlled to achieve agendas. People need to realize this before it’s too late. Morality won’t mean shit when they’ve inverted its meaning to be killing your children because it’s gonna save the planet and not having families cause “climate change”. I hope people are waking up to see the depth of Nates music. This dude ain’t even picking his words for no reason. His word play is damn near cryptic. He obsesses over syllable structures. Nates doing some upper level shit. Music comes from Nature and its rhythmic patterns and he recognizes this and puts it in his music. It’s almost puts you in a trance like state. It’s wild cause you can see it his music like literally makes everyone literally physically want to move. Explain that shit.
Its crazy how consistently amazing gis work is. This album is so good. The first week i listened to it from sun up to sun down. Then once he got #1 and the fans work paid off, i tried to go listen to some other artist and the music just sounds so weird, so i went back to The Search album lol
Mindy Lynn I agree. I listened to chance’s cd too cuz I’m a big chance fan. But goodness, this nf cd is levels above other artists today. Lyrics, production, beats. All around, just better.

NF is describing a time where his mental health wasnf overbearing and intrusive and controlling of his life, when his past didnt haunt him at every moment and where he could just live his life without the constant internal struggle, a concept I can heavily relate to. Theres a bit of a difference here, and your interpretation of this song was most definitely missing the mark
