Thank you for doing this, particularly for sharing Eugene’s video! Jinjer has become more than a band to me, and to millions of people around the world. Kudos to you for using your platform here on RUclips to spread this message!
Absolutely brother! Like Eugene said, with social media being accessible to everyone around the world it should be able to be used to change enough people's views to make a difference.
Thanks for sharing this and especially with Eugene's powerful words. It's so rare that ordinary people caught in a war have the ability to take their experiences to an international audience as their own authentic expression. It makes Home Back a powerful statement on the reality not only of this war but of every war around the world, past, present, and future.
I saw Jinjer live before Macro was released. I was impressed by Tatyana's vocal abilities, but wasn't captivated by the music. And then they released Macro, which immediately became my favourite by them and one of top albums in 2019. Really masterful work musically. Every song just works! Judgement (& Punishment) is probably the most powerful track. I hope they (and all Ukrainians) stay safe during war actions. I want to be an optimist, but living in the same part of the world where Ukraine is gives you an idea of political and cultural context and ruthlessness of Putin's and Lukashenko's regime, so the realist in me thinks this is going to be a long struggle for survival :(
Thanks for using your platform to share some extremely relevant music from Jinjer and also Eugene's message to the world. My heart goes out to the Ukrainian people.
Another great anti-war song from them from years before is, When Two Empires Collide, and, Sit, Stay, Roll Over. Both made me shed a tear or two when I understood what they were talking about and what they’ve experienced. 🇺🇦
I just shared Home Back on my FB with a message last night as Jinjer is actually my favorite metal band. Glad to see others giving Home Back a closer look and attention during these hard times. I also linked THIS video because I feel like people just see metal and keep scrolling. I think this video of yours helps a lot at just getting the word out. Thank you thank you thank you
Excellent reaction 👍🏻🤘🏻 Tatiana is safe in the usa with her American husband but the rest of the band are stuck there in ukraine as Eugene said. Lets hope this crazy situation ends soon for everybody.
This is so important right now....I'm in tears and I've listened to this song dozens of times. We all must share the stories of the Ukrainian people and the suffering that this unjust war is causing. Thanks for sharing this song and message!
Thank you Dog. So glad that you use your channel to spread a deep message of concern for the fate of Ukrainian families, especially children, in the face of the attack by the dictator Putin
14:55. You nailed it. It’s may not be for everyone, and that’s completely fine. But Tatiana’s (along with many, many other talented metal vocalists’) technique and talent should not be dismissed. It is a ever growing and developing style that takes hard work and practice to execute at such a high level, as much as any other vocal style or instrument. When a person so musically informed and talented such as yourself can recognize and appreciate the vocal style, it really lends credence to the artistic value it holds. Cheers Doug. Your analysis of music is always fascinating. But your takes on topical social issues are always well received by my ears.
This was a really thoughtful video! Thank you for taking your time to show the message from the band and the work you did to analyze the song. I hope Ukraine continues to push Russia back and keep their homes. Slava Ukraini 🇺🇦🌻
LOVE Jinjer and Tati. More! "I Speak Astronomy," "Judgement (& Punishment)", and "Teacher, Teacher" are songs that you'll like because they play pinball with genres, cadences, timing, phrasing, etc. and have great lyrics.
Thank you for this, and for your own heart and wisdom. Been listening this weekend to Emerson Lake & Palmer's rendition of "The Great Gate of Kiev" from their 'Pictures at an Exhibition'; the lyrics are truly prescient.
Doug, you never cease to amaze! You've got the gentlest soul and the kindest heart, and I really appreciate what you're doing here, in this particular video, but overall your channel. Thank you
Thank you for sharing this Doug. I have gained a huge respect for the people of Ukraine over the past few weeks, they have demonstrated some real cojones in the face of a terror I can barely imagine. Though not my usual musical style, this is a perfect response to current events. Blessings, courage and victory to Ukraine.
Thanks for choosing this band and this specific song. You cannot be more accurate doing it. And also, I had watched Eugene video and it was also such a good attention in this dark time to present it to your channel. Also, your thought about Tatiana growl and scream join what I figure too : it is a tool like other instrument. When you think about it, there are many emotions you can carry with it (anger, fear, terror, etc.). You definitely help doing this and hope it end soon.
Well done sir, very well done! When it hit the fan one of the first things I thought of was the members of this band. All the people of Ukraine are in my thoughts, especially the children.
Wow! Thank you for the introduction to Jinjer. I'm not into Metal, more in the Sixties, but I've enjoyed wandering the musical world with you. I have shared Eugene's message of hope with my friends on social media, hoping that this dreadful period may end soon. Thanks again.
Thank you again for playing this amazing band and playing Eugene's message as well. Everyone should see and hear this RIGHT NOW and pay attention. Thanks again for your hope for zero tolerance for war too!!
Very cool - thank you Mr. H. They really PUT you in the middle of war. Amazing stuff and Tatiana is incredible. Hope they are safe. No more war. Peace to Ukraine and all of us.
Thank you so much for doing this song. Knowing the band's story makes this song really stick. They've been through a lot. I'm so glad you came back to Jinjer. They are such an amazing band. Please check out more of them! Thanks, and cheers!
So prophetic even years ago! Thanks for spreading the word on this! Jinjer has become a favorite band for me. Missed a chance to see them a few months ago that I now kick myself about. To the end of war.
They played this when I saw them live in December and it killed the crowd. So much energy. The kind of energy that comes from Russia hovering over their home since 2014.
Doug, thank you so much for posting this video expressing your support for the Ukrainian people and Jinger in these very difficult circumstances for them.
Great pick man. It made me feel angst and brought me into their world through their music. It is emotionally draining and the music conveys the horror perfectly. You cant help to feel for them and all the innocents. I found this channel through a Dream Theater reaction. You're genuine man!
Relistening to their songs especially this one and when two empires collide hits differently right now. I'm now fully understanding why Jinjer took the world by a storm. These guys will have stories to tell for the rest of their lives.
Thank you for the links so we can help fight this horror of war and fight the oppression or at least lessen its effects. I will post this on my page for whatever small benefit it can afford. Peace to the people of Ukraine, our hearts break for your pain and the death that Russia brings.
Thank you for A) taking the time to raise awareness about the situation in their country, and choosing this song to highlight it, B) remaining open minded to metal, and more particularly screaming as a skill and art in its own right, and C) just loving music and sharing those passionate experiences with others. Jinjer has a song called "Judgement (& Punishment)". The one-take vocal recording is on youtube, with video. Even if not for the show, it's worth checking out if you're interested in either their music, or Tatiana as a metal vocalist. Thank you again for what you do on your channel. I hope to do something similar someday.
War is only death and hunger. Don't we already have enough on this planet? It will be necessary for each of us to understand that we already have enough to be happy? Happiness is not achieved with more, but with better. This song has lyrics that so truthfully tell the reality that even our most impure conscience shivers. What mother or father beats their children and still thinks they are right? And when they do, they regret it and stop with their hand in the air in good time and go cry hidden in shame. Those who beat their children all their lives have no shame... they have no soul... they are not human. Humanity is empathy.
Suggested this masterpiece long time ago, didn't think the subject could get even more serious. Currently they are stuck in the siege of Kiev 😢. Edit as Eugene mentions
I'm frustrated that I can click the Like button only one time. Videos like this one of yours should have a Like button with a 10x, 100x and 1000x option so that I could click the 1000x button. 🙂
I wouldn't have through that a song that is so brutal and heavy would have made me so emotional, but given everything that is going on in the world right now, this song brought me to tears. I miss your earlier reviews where you would focus more on the musicality and the things that those of us who are not composers would not pick up on, but the focus on lyrics and topicality for this video was entirely appropriate and well-timed.
Great choice, Doug! Not only have you chosen a Ukrainian metal band, but the subject matter is just spot on. I really like the various themes that the song runs through.
Hi Doug! Thank you for posting such an important and powerful piece of art. Huge message. If you would like to review some music from Ukraine as well, I know a band which makes really emotional music. It's called Somali Yacht Club. Until now they have released 2 LPs and third is on its way to be released in April. My recommendations are Silver from the upcomming record, Loom or Sun from The Sun record, or Vero from The Sea album. Literally, there is no weak song in their portfolio. I personally treat their records as a whole, one piece of art to listen from the beginning to a very last sound. Here's a little about those 3 guys from Lviv, Ukraine: Named after the real-life pirates who attack vessels off the Somalian coast and the peaceful leisure of those with time to kill and money to burn, SOMALI YACHT CLUB musically embodies the boundless, wide-open, quiet/loud spaces that atmospheric post-rock and metal occupy. The band's third full-length ‘The Space’ finds the trio in full expanse of their sonic elements, delivering six cuts of atmospheric post-rock/metal with dashes of melancholy and introspection. A new age of stoner has arrived. You can check them on their YT. All their music is there to listen. But beware, it's stoner so might be difficult. Almost no lyrics, but pure energy and emotions. And almost forgot, you might check out also their cover artist - Dasha Pliska. Amazing artist! oh and btw, greetings from Poland!
Thanks for brining back Jinjer. My heart goes out to the Ukrainian people. I'm so moved by their courage. Please do more Jinjer. I recommend Teacher Teacher official video. That song has a great balance of clean vocals and grawls with impossibly seamless transitions. Also Perennial live at Wacken is a must.
Thank you for doing this, you created a new fan. If you like vocals as color, check out Chino Moreno(Deftones). Screams, shreiks, wispers, dog whistles range, haunting harmonies and beautiful melodies. "Knife Party" has a very intense vocal solo. There is also a song they do with Maynard from Tool Called "Passenger."
5:00 children take it as it comes. My mother as 6 yr old sat in front of that burning building at night with the fire lights behind its walls and said 'look, how beautiful!' ...
Thank you for doing this, particularly for sharing Eugene’s video! Jinjer has become more than a band to me, and to millions of people around the world. Kudos to you for using your platform here on RUclips to spread this message!
Same for me, Matt. Thanks Doug and stay safe #jinjer
Absolutely brother! Like Eugene said, with social media being accessible to everyone around the world it should be able to be used to change enough people's views to make a difference.
I agree, so much more than a band. I'm so ready to load up my guns and gear and go help them fight.
Doug, thank you so much for doing it.
I'm a Ukrainian who had to leave Donetsk in 2014 and now this...
Our hearts go out to you all. Hoping that your family and friends are safe.
I truly hope your country will see peace again very very soon. Love form Denmark.
We stand with Ukraine!
♥️🇺🇦✊🏻🇺🇦✊🏿🇺🇦✊🏽🇺🇦♥️
The line "I'm back home, now give me my home back!"
Good God, it breaks my heart 💔
A big thank you and much love from Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine.

Macro and Micro are some of the best stuff they came out. Especially Macro, I mean wow.
Thanks for using your platform to share some extremely relevant music from Jinjer and also Eugene's message to the world. My heart goes out to the Ukrainian people.
Me too and for the people in the Donbass Region in the last 8 years.
Great reaction. Thanks for joining us Jinjer fanatics in supporting Jinjer, and all of Ukraine.
Jinjer as a musical entity is a gift to our generation. This was a great pick for this particular Metal Monday.
Across generations, too.
Another great anti-war song from them from years before is, When Two Empires Collide, and, Sit, Stay, Roll Over. Both made me shed a tear or two when I understood what they were talking about and what they’ve experienced. 🇺🇦
Thanks Doug. So glad to see you use your platform to pay attention to the situation in Ukraine.
Jinjer... well this is a band i thought you would never try out. I love the jazz fusion in the metal they make, and Tatiana is a stunning singer
This is a very profound song.. I feel so much sadness for them being in the middle of such a grave situation.
God bless the people of Ukraine.
Oh yes, you're hitting the nail the head with this!
I just shared Home Back on my FB with a message last night as Jinjer is actually my favorite metal band. Glad to see others giving Home Back a closer look and attention during these hard times. Nice, thank you! And yes, do more Jinjer please!!
Thanks for the video but more importantly for posting the links.

Great video Doug! Thanks for making this to help the Ukrainians can get their ‘Home Back’!
Thank you for doing this. 💙💛
Thanks Mr. Helvering, the fact you're bringing the topic of russian invasion is already a help!
Thanks for this video.
Thank you, Doug.
Doug, you never cease to amaze!

We see, hear and read, we cannot ignore.

Thank You Doug for this video! Eugene, bring your family to Poland, we will welcome you here, and help as much as we can. Slava Ukraini!!
Working age men are not allowed to leave Ukraine.
Thank you for sharing this Doug. I have gained a huge respect for the people of Ukraine over the past few weeks, they have demonstrated some real cojones in the face of a terror I can barely imagine. I'm late to this video, but I just want to say I appreciate this a lot. Keep up the good work.
Been my favorite band since I discovered them a few years back and just saw them not long ago in concert and it was amazing
I am so impressed with the pronunciation and your break down of the song. Round of applause for you sir

Ok, I have only been a fan of their song Pisces so far, the other songs do not reach me, but this is intense with all that background.
Try wallflower
Check out Judgement (& Punishment)
I already know Wallflower and J&P as well as others

I love this band and support stopping the war against Ukraine. War solves nothing.
Those lyrics are incredibly powerful!
