  • In this video I cover building a simple DIY down draft plasma cutting table for my Arcdroid CNC plasma cutter, I also cover tips on using the Arcdroid.
    I go over a simple air dryer for plasma cutters and how to get the most out of plasma consumables.
    Finally I cover the Arcfony Cut53N plasma cutter with plug and play CNC connections. It’s the best value blow back pilot arc start I have ever used.
    Here's a video covering the Langmuir Crossfire PRO CNC table For over 3 years.

      Right on thanks Jon 😊 I will cover more about this Arcdroid in the near future, I will go over the touch screen and how to draw simple parts and the trace features. This way you and others have a much better idea of what is possible with the simple software and what would be better to draw in a computer program. Take care and have a great weekend 😊

    I would be interested in a video comparing the two. It's funny how you started with the smaller Langmuir table, then went to the big one and now going back to a smaller unit that the Arc Droid is. Of course your projects were much different with each unit. I'm still diggin' the Mini Pinzgauer build.

      The Arcdroid is so quick to draw and cut basic parts I just use it a lot more these days the the Crossfire. Take care and have a great weekend 👍

    I bought a Crossfire XL with water table, limit switches, THC, laptop stand, and the Razorweld 45 with machine torch. I'm actually hoping to have first fire this evening. I've wanted for one for a while, and after I added some auxiliary hydraulics on my tractor, I decided I didn't like the bracket that came with it, so I'd cut my own :). On the topic of high quality air, google for "compressor aftercooler". Basically, it's taking an automotive transmission cooler and water separator, and then plumbing it between the compressor head and the tank check valve. The advantage to this is it keeps water out of the tank, reducing corrosion. I've got a two water separators, a dessicant stage, and a Motor Guard 60 micron filter at the moment, but I'm going to add the aftercooler as soon as I can start cutting some brackets. FYI: It's your fault I bought the Crossfire :)

    Just before Covid (spring of 2019) we bought a Crossfire basic table and a Miller 625 X-treme, had a terrible time with the software. Fusion 360 was terrible to use in our setting because it's internet based and our connection was very slow. Also the old Mach 3 which isn't dedicated to plasma cutting was less than user friendly. During the 1'st year of Covid our shop was shut down and the machine sat. The 2'nd April of covid (2021) we opened our shop and it was either get the Crossfire going or get rid of it. We threw Fusion away and bought QCAD and Sheetcam, meanwhile Languire came out with their ArcFire software. In about 2 weeks very part time we learned enough software and got everything running. My advice is Fusion is way more program than you need for simple 2D parts, SheetCam works and ArcFire is a game changer. Once you can CNC cut you look at projects completely differently.

    • @Mikefestiva
      @Mikefestiva  Год назад

      Yes Fusion 360 is way overkill for simple 2D stuff, I definitely have been looking into other programs. 😊👍
      I will take a closer look at QCAD and Sheetcam. Thanks for checking out my new video.

      @@Mikefestiva Hi Mike............enjoy your videos.....QCAD is pretty intuitive and all you need for 2D cut drawings, Sheetcam is also 2D and works fine, we loaded both on the laptop that drives the Crossfire table so it's all right there and resident with our table......... we also have copies on home computers so w can design & post process there as well.....works for us.......73 MP

      @@michaelpolimer2128 I'm using F360 for my Crossfire pro, w/ THC, right now and it's way more hassle than I'd prefer, overly complex and they are pretty restrictive with the hobby license. What is post processing like with QCAD, SheetCam and ArcFire? Is it pretty straight forward like F360? Do you still use FireControl from Langmuir Systems? I did a quick look for ArcFire and didn't find it. Where can I find it?

    Finished building my JDsGarage plasma table about a month ago. Been fighting my little HF 3 in 1 Tig, Stick and Plasma machine with all the CNC EMI hardening stuff. It does cut but cannot plunge as initial torch height is critical for arc start.
    So I finally pulled the trigger on this Arcfony CUT53N cnc! Should be here today!
    I had watched this video a few months back but wasn't thinking of a plasma cutter at the time. Found this video again on researching the Arcfony, LOL. Great video as usual! Keep it up.

I've also, used the same filter/dryer you have. I could sure use your help hooking up my Arcfony for my first cut. I bought the X2 and hoping to make my first cut by Friday. I have a 60 gal Mega Compressor which should do the trick. My plasma table is almost ready except for the final down draft addition like yours. Hi Mike, loved the Vid! Yes, would like to see a comparison on the Langmiur table and the ArcDroid. While at it, might also address which Langmiur table to get. For example, I think you have a larger one but not the Pro? A comparison maybe of the smaller table (4'x4' ?) and the ArcDroid would be particularly interesting since they are both kinda competing in the smaller size part space whereas the advantage of the larger Langmiur tables is obviously that one can do large parts. Another thing to consider is maybe being able to free hand manual plasma torch cutting of the main features of a large part (for example the outer perimeter) and then see about registering the large part to the small Langmiur table or ArcDroid to cut out small registered detail (like a plurality of precisely placed holes or features). I saw the registration trick done on another channel, so he could cut a 4'x8' sheet with a 4'x4' Lamgmiur table. I think most folks would probably be doing smaller parts more often (I kinda think that is what you are getting at with the ArcDroid), but may have need to do larger parts on occasion, so would like the capability to do those larger parts, even if it means fiddling with some gyrations. Thanks for all you do!

    Super interested in a comparison video, especially between the Arcfony and Razorcut. I still have the Crossfire Pro that I got right after seeing the one you got but the Razorcut plasma cutter has been giving me fits. I got one of the early ones that had the flawed circuit board and I took it up to Kent where one of the guys at Jasic did the mod that was supposed to fix it. Unfortunately it still doesn't like to pierce while stationary. As soon as the torch starts to move it makes it through, so I make my lead ins as long as possible and about half of the running feed rate. This only works on stuff that's less than .125" thickness with larger hole diameters. Thank you so much for doing all the work and making videos. I watch them all.

    • @Mikefestiva
      @Mikefestiva  Год назад +1

      It definitely sucks when the plasma cutter misses a a start, I have experienced that on occasion with the Titanium 45 and the Hynade. This is probably one miss start out of 50 starts or so.
      The Arcfony has been really good, it’s only missing a few starts out of hundreds I have made so far.
      So far I think it’s the most affordable CNC plug and play available on the market. The thing I like more about the Arcfony CUT53N then the Hynade CUT60DN is the Arcfony coming with an adjustable regulator and the Hynade is fixed at one air pressure.
      The Hynade has a really nice torch lead but I think the Arcfony’s lighter duty torch lead works better for the arcdroid because it’s built lighter and is more flexible for the arcdroid arm to easily move it.
      I’m sorry you are having so much trouble with the Razor weld plasma.
      For the cost of the Arcfony I think you would use your CNC table a lot more. Ps what software are you using? I have only used Fusion 360 but have heard a few others mention they use Sheetcam and QCAD. I’m thinking of looking into those programs.

    I’ve been using the Arcfony plasma cutter for about a month and a half now and it’s worked pretty well for what I’ve needed, I ended up getting it on sale with the 3/4 year protection plan for less than $300 or something around there. Not too bad for a plug and play plasma cutter that’s for sure.

I see two red wires and 2 black wires???

    Mike, for your fan, you might have been able to use the fan from a clothes dryer. They move a lot of air, but for an electric dryer, your motor would probably be 240v.

    Mike, would you consider doing a comparision of the Arcfony, Best Arc, Hyanide, and the HF plasma's you have used and loved over the years? Maybe for CNC and non-CNC use? What options do you like for an application and why this one is cool over another. I know you have done some individual reviews for them. Just a thought. I know you are a busy man with multiple hats to wear. Appreciate your time.

    The one thing I'll add as a comment is about that Costco shelving. Those shelves are GREAT and are pretty heavy duty. But if you want to set up a workbench or a CNC router or something on them, bolt the shelf legs down. The shelving is great for storage but may want to wobble or tip on you if you do much work on them.

    Hey Mike beena subscriber for years, you inspired me to start a fabrication channel 4 years ago, AC Designs Garage . Im on the fence on an arcdroid or the langmuir like you have. Which would you buy today if you had it to do over again?? Thanks man God Bless Adrian at AC Designs Garage 🙏

    • @Mikefestiva
      @Mikefestiva  8 месяцев назад +2

      Right on man that’s great you started a channel! Well I would say either CNC cutter will be a complete game changer for you.
      I would say the learning curve for the software on the arcdroid is much faster to learn and start cutting, although it’s pretty basic software.
      The Arcdroid is smaller so it takes up less room but you need to build a cutting table for it.
      The Crossfire pro is built into a water table but does take a lot more room in a shop.
      You also have to build the table/CNC.
      The learning curve for the third party software is slow to learn.
      Over all if you want to make projects around your place and for YT videos and maybe a little side work cutting parts the the Arcdroid is probably best.
      If you want to do all that plus start a side business cutting custom CNC parts the Crossfire is probably the best, table size is much bigger and I feel you can get more work done when cutting with it, but the down side I mainly see is the third party software is really slow to learn and slow to make simple changes to the design.
      Hope this helps 👍

      @Mikefestiva thank you very much for the help!!! I was leaning towards the arcdroid because of the size. My shop is not huge and since im fulltime on youtube I dont plan on doing much side work. Thanks again Mike!!!! Adrian at AC Designs Garage!
