はじめの回想に出てきたライラックのシーン。初出の第一話では使われてなかった、晴道の顔アップのカットを入れたのは秀逸。その笑顔は也英だけが知っていたはずだった。

The best moment in the entire series. From the song to Yae's tear from remembering the flashbacks. Loved how this was the way she remembered.
Using the song as the ultimate plot device, hence really really cemented the concept of the series inspired by the song. The director and scriptwriter is a genius, and Yae actress visual expression with her eyes alone conveys those meaning. This here might be one of the best scene ever produced in any drama

Such a great actress. You know exactly when it hits her. Her eyes and her face tells you all that emotion. 💯 I first heard this song years ago and that first few notes is just soooooo classic 😂 this series brought it up to a whole new level. Kudos!!!

I loved the younger actors, they did an amazing job portraying their roles. Younger Harumichi was my favorite, he was just so sweet and straightforward

The really make you cry part is when the screen blacked out and the credits rolls in. But Netflix won't let you skip, this is the moment you know the director wants the audience to enjoy this very moment. The song hasn't been used since episode 2 is crucial, because they don't want you to being tired of the song. But when the song cut in this moment all the memories flash back, you and Yae. This is the moment you will cry hard with the character.
While watching ep 8 until this scene I didn't get why people were saying it was an extremely sad episode. Turns out this is why. Well played, Netflix. 😂
This episode is Masterpiece. There is no skip function for episode 8 that my girlfriend thought it is the ending and cried as f*ck! lol

I love how the flashback scenes started with a slow trickle and then burst into a flood of transitions with every note, so the audience could see the flashbacks the same way that Yae saw them as she regained her memories

There is a line in the movie that yae's memories could return if its stimulated through sense, and if you watched the whole series, it Cleverly showed that every yae's sense is stimulated: (smell: flower that namiki left in the taxy, touch: a kiss, sight: seeing namiki and view from top of a hill, taste: tasting napolitan (namiki's fav food), and finally hearing: utada hikaru's superb song, first love)

Sight debatable for the 1st time it was triggered: 1st time can be said to be seeing Namiki, Yae did turn to look at him again as she walked away (episode 8 in this flashback). However greatest impact was when Yae saw the hand signs of Yu and involuntarily did the handsign for family. Final nail is the sight from the hill

やえが大学時代に宇多田ヒカルのCDを沢山友達に貸した時に｢一つCD入ってなかったよ｣と言われたのは当時並木にその1枚を貸してたからだよね。
それが何十年経って綴が並木のCDプレイヤーを貰った時に中に入っててやえの元に戻ってきた
しかも、やえの子供を介して戻ってくるって凄い、考えてんなぁ〜って思いました！

ここ見た時「あぁ、思い出すだけで、結ばれないエンドなんだ…」って勘違いしちゃって、まだあと1話あることに驚いた。けど、正直このまま物語終わっていいくらい、演技、演出、歌、全てがマッチしてたら最高のシーンだった…First loveたくさん好きなシーンあるけどこれは格別だな
This is by far the most touching and heart breaking scene in the entire history of movies/tv shows. Yae really did a well done job here, as we see how she finally remembers, and all the time that was wasted away by the years because of her being unable to remember
一番印象に残った役者さんは晴道役の木戸大聖さんですが、一番印象に残ったシーンはダントツこのシーンです。何回見ても感情移入して泣いてしまいます。
記憶がティーンの晴道からフラッシュバックしていって、今の也英が恋していた大人の晴道が、甦った記憶と重なってく演出が本当に最高

也英が春道のことを思い出したこのシーンで片目から涙流すんだけど、
春道が久しぶりに也英と再会するシーンも片目から涙流していて、お互いに止まっていた時間が戻るシーンがリンクしているのがまたいい。
Even the tears are poetic; Harumichi's tear falling on the left side of his cheek when he first saw Yae after all this years and Yae's tear falling on the right side when she finally remembers everything. The first tear and the last tear makes it whole, complete.
The execution turned this masterpiece into a legend. Her remembering everything should be by far the most anticipated scene of the series, yet instead of spreading it across a whole episode (if not two) like all others with similar plots, Yuri Kanchiku put everything into an insanely short 102 seconds, creating one of the most powerful moments in romantic drama history. The timing of cutting into the credits with the song still playing is also flawless, and one may say it actually made the ending credits part of this powerful scene, which may explain why it is the only episode where the "Next Episode" button does not appear and will not automatically skip to the next episode even with the function enabled.
The same goes with everything else in First Love - they have all been done before, but have never been done so perfectly like this, thus even the most cliché bits would still feel like a breath of fresh air.
I agree this scene could have been milked and drawn out until we got sick of if. Instead, the director made it short and subtle as heck. I love what she did. She knows viewers would appreciate the power of this scene without too much fanfare. However, I would disagree that every part of this drama was perfect. In fact, I found a lot of cheesy bits and too many caricatures. I wish she had gone more in depth with the family and friends scenes. A lot of is unsatisfying and ready for remakes. I would love if K-drama made a longer remake of this drama, where they can fill in more of the underdrawn parts. I would LOVE to remake this drama myself! haha
@@jenw5557 Super enjoyable drama but thought it was very silly at times, with a lot of moments being too ''well timed'' (such as a characters running into one another at perfect moments). I also think the way she lost her memory could have been done better rather than randomly getting hit by some car, which in my opinion just felt contrived and unrealistic.

her acting is so good. It’s not dramatic or sth intense when you’re watching k-drama, it’s pure! you can see her eyes confused with her memories, from unknown to realize THAT was her memories missing.😢 and when she closed her eyes suddenly, you can tell all her memories came back like a flood, hit her heart. It’s truly hurtful without any sound, it’s so painful to handle. 😢 I cried like a baby in the midnight.

What i love the MOST about this drama is the blend of past and present. So many drama's focus entirely on the past and transition to the present. As a viewer you would sometimes unknowingly get connected to the actor/actress to a specific timeline and feel some sort of disconnect with the other. This drama blended both to perfection.
This scene totally got me , though we all know what is to come. It still made me cry buckets of tears . I can't comment more on Hikari's emotional acting, just perfect.

The issues are real.. divorce, pain, hardships, career choice, empathy with persons with disability/ sign language, child custody issues, mother & son relationship, talk about porn materials, little nudity, sacrifice, letting go & most especially the drama is on point.

J-dramas are more realistic imo. Also, they are much shorter than k-drama and c-drama and get to the point 😂

oh sweetheart, this does not destroy all K-drama. in fact, I don't know if you've noticed, but this drama borrows many elements from K-drama. most K-dramas are still much better at depicting everyday life and matters of the heart with warmth, humor, and naturalness than most J-dramas. there is a rigidness and awkward tempo and stereotyping of women that is still very prevalent in J-dramas which I don't enjoy watching anymore. cheers!
Best romance/love drama of 2022 and in my top 3 of all time. This was the best scene of the series. Everything led and built up to this very moment for Yae and it was executed perfectly. From the song, the flashbacks, her remembering, the way she even cried and cutting to the credits. Director Yuri Kanchiku did a fantastic job. I’ve rewatched this scene many times and it never gets old and touches my heart every time. What a masterpiece. Bravo 👏❤

満島ひかりさんの作品ってわりと悲壮感あるような役が多い気がしてあまり見ないようにしてた。朝ドラに出てた時でさえ。それは演技が上手すぎるから。感情移入しちゃって私まで辛くなるから。この作品は本当に素敵な作品だし満島ひかりさんでよかったって思う。このシーンが全話の中で一番好きです。すごい女優さん。
I just finished watching this part and it hit me with so much tears. Seeing those flashbacks of memories filled with so many happy moments and joy. That is how you direct this scene with the audience, especially for those who listened to Utada Hikaru's First Love back in 1999. Definitely one of my favorite moments.

日本のテレビ局はアメリカと比べて余りにも金がないから、金がかからんラブストーリーばっか作って来たわけだけど、意図せずそれで技術や経験、歴史が積み重なってここに来て最高傑作が出来上がった気がする。

This scene really got me. I haven't cried hard for a drama since Scarlet Heart Ryeo, until this part. I've been playing this for countless times and still I can't hold my tears. I was their age when the song got popular and it has been on the radio for months. I couldn't help being nostalgic.

This is a story about one man's enduring love for one woman. For first loves to come back together like this again, you would need a diehard romantic like Harumichi who can't forget that one woman who is irreplaceable to him. Any man more practical would have already married the loyal fiance and started a family. In real life, this is usually how the story goes. I can honestly say I've never experienced this kind of timeless and unshakeable love from any guy. It makes me envious!
