As much as I love Scabbia and Simons I have to admit Floor is the best female voice in metal ( in my opinion ). She could sing absolutely everything, both in rock and classical manner. Add the incredible presence on stage and you have the ideal vocalist.

Started out with nightwish, then started listening to her solo, then revamp and now finding after forever, Everything floor layed hands on is incredible

I saw Floor at the Sept 1st Nightwish concert in Seattle. I'd never heard of her until then but she was great live! And with just a single day of practice that's even more amazing. I do hope that Nightwish keeps her long term.

I'm 47 and I looooved this song when it came out.
This lady is a very well trained singer who gives vocal lessons on the side or use to. She has one of the best singing voices in Symphonic Metal. After Forever broke up. Quit comparing these groups. They are playing a certain genre of music so of course some will sound similar...geesh. If this reminds you of Nightwish it is because she is currently with NIghtwish and another band called Re-Vamp.

Flor Jansen, she is the embodiment of perfection, in terms of what a female vocalist should be. What I've seen in the 'female-fronted' genre are many bands who enjoy After Forever enough to blatantly pantomime AF's style.

Yep, I feel like one of _those_ people, but I did hear her on this first, and I've got the iTunes download history to prove it. :-D Sometimes in college I would just binge YT recommendations for metal bands I'd never heard of, mostly because I loved Nightwish so much and wanted to hear more like them. Little did I know Floor was gonna make it big with them!

I wonder if Floor or Tuomas would ever suggest to play this song live at a Nightwish concert in 2020. Considering that the band do fantastic cover work, musically speaking everyone would do a great job at playing it and Floor could be over the moon with that gesture too.

My main concern about Elan wasnt about the vocals, but rather about the simplicity of the song on all levels. I dont feel "touched" by it. Or "Energized" like War624 successfully put it. I think Tuomas can do so much better than this! I have very high expectations for the album, I think most fans have and that is something good.
Funny cuz I was just thinking the same thing. While Elan shows off her softer side, that's all it does. Energize Me showcases Floor's powerful yet elegant vocals. You would have thought Nightwish would have wanted to make a statement to the world of how great a singer Floor really is and we can finally all move past Tarja with a better single. I am still expecting great things from the album.
I remember I heard her for the first time in "Beyond Me". After she sang "I know I'm alone but somebody's watching me, follows me every where I go" I was like "Holy shit!! I'm love". I didn't like much their music though. That was like 15 years ago... time flies. I liked Nightwish but I stopped listen to them since Tarja left and hired Annette, she was so pop. Now Floor in Nightwish is a dream come true for me. I can't stop listen to them since she joined in, they reborned, they're better than ever. ❤❤❤
Night wish has a thing for firing women singers without warning. That second one wasn't even close to Tarja, and they lucked out getting Floor.

after forever introduced me to floor jansen. their music is good, but like she's doing now with nightwish, her voice elevated it above what it would be with anyone else singing it. i'm still sad they broke up, but at least floor is still around slaying metal.
I totally agree. I loved Tarja when she was the singer of Nightwish. Saw her live. I loved Anette (Bye Bye Beautiful is my favourite song ever). I saw her live too. I also loved floor when I saw her live last November. Thought she pulled off both Anette and Tarja's songs really well. I trust Nightwish. They won't let us down after 16 years.

Hmm I don’t look at it this way. She sounds different in EFMB, and different yet on her ReVamp songs. I kinda like that she’s not a one trick pony and can show all these different colours. With that said, what she does live to the old NW songs is just amazing.
