    I had the same problem, opened the reservoir cap after driving it home from work, released some air pressure from the reservoir. Needed more dexcool and added more ( half a gallon ) . No more overheating after that.

  • @Cosmicshroom

    Mines started overheating at 96,000 miles, thought exchanging the fluid and thermostat would solve the problem but nope. One thing I learned from this particular model (06-11 DTS) is once it starts overheating with mileage over 60k, REPLACE EVERYTHING that has to do with the cooling system! Water pump, thermostat, radiator, fluid exchange, etc... Will fix the problem 100% and worth it

    • @richardburchett
      @richardburchett 4 года назад +1

      Just replaced my water pump as well as the upper radiator hose. I noticed the old hose was sitting on top of the valve cover and would get really hot so the hose was weak and spongy from the heat. Hope that solves the problem. Other upkeep things such as replacing the thermostat and the temp sensor in the reservoir tank as well as clean out the smaller hoses and fittings.

    Check the passenger side floorboard. If the carpet is wet, the heater core may be leaking. If the head gaskets are ok and you don't see an external leak, that may be where the coolant is going.

    Its funny you should have this problem, because my father and I have been recently going through the exact same problem in our 1961 Cadillac Fleetwood with a 390 V8. Its not as prevalent during the cold winter but it has been a problem during these past months down here in Florida. We're hoping its not a leaking head gasket because there are no signs of external leaking or anything which is very odd. The last time the coolant disappeared it took almost 3 gallons of distilled water. I don't know if you found the problem here or not but its funny how both our Cadillac's are experiencing the exact same problem. We've never had an overheating problem ever before on any of our cars or Cadillac's until now on the 61.
