Understanding the Different Modes of Ground Proximity Warning System or GPWS!

- The GPWS is an important system in an Aircraft that protects the aircraft when it is flying at lower altitudes. This system has different modes which are given as MODE 1 to MODE 5 OR MODE 6 in some aircraft.
As the name suggests this system provides Cautions or Warnings in the Cockpit if the aircraft is on a collision course with the ground. The video gives an understanding of the basic GPWS system and also explains the different modes individually, to give an idea on the working of the GPWS system.

Great presentation, very clear. RIP to lives that created these modes.
It would be nice to see examples in context. I like mode 1 and 2 and 4 (1. SINK RATE, PULL UP, 2. TERRAIN, PULL UP, 4a TOO LOW GEAR/TERRAIN, 4b TOO LOW FLAPS/TERRAIN)
I propose changes to mode 3, 5, 6, 7 to give clear instruction.
(3. DONT SINK ==>>> POSITIVE RATE REQUIRED, 5. GLIDESLOPE ==>> MOVE INTO GLIDESLOPE, 6. BANK ANGLE ==>>REDUCE BANK ANGLE, 7. WINDSHEAR==>>CAUTION WINDSHEAR)
That's some good changes you have mentioned to the Modes!
I think the callouts are simplified due to the fact that pilots might have 5-30s to react, so giving them larger sentences is impractical. And if you hear "BANK ANGLE" you know that the roll is too much, not flat anyway
Thanks and highly appreciated 🙏🚁🚁🙏
Thank you too!
thank you so much respect from bangladesh 🇧🇩
You are Welcome!

Omg very nice !
Thanks You!
Is GWPS just only in English? I've only ever heard it in English and I'm curious.
Interesting Question! Even I have heard the alerts in English Only!
English is the official language of aviation, so the GPWS, TCAS and everything else is in English only

whoop whoop pull up lol
Haha
Most crash documentaries I've watched, when that warning comes on the pilots don't really believe it. If they reacted straight away they might not have crashed.
@@ajs41 Yeah, I know, and it’s really sad. Used to watch Air Crash Investigations all the time.
