Glad to know this is not limited to the United States. A person can do a 2-week rental and is now technically allowed to live there for life as they established residence. You have to file paperwork to have them removed in Civil Court, which could take 6 months up to 5 years.
In the US, this depends on the state. in some states, you could do anything from have a sheriff forcefully remove the person, forcefully remove them yourself, etc. basically this would never happen in any even remotely rural part of the US (anywhere where the nearest cop is an hour away). In most rural places, the community polices itself, and the local PD is there for paperwork

Squatters rights are so dumb. The idea that someone can live on my property without my permission is aggravating. It’s just bra what are you doing.
Landlords add no inherent value to their property. Fuck landlords that have empty apartments meant to generate value despite there being people who are homeless on the streets.
@@Otzkar dude do you know how much houses and properties cost in Australia. Think about it most people (including land lords) need a mortgage to buy a house, if there is a squatter in the house the owner can’t rent the house out meaning all he has is debt that he may or may NOT be able to pay back without the extra revenue provided by the house. If the land lord can’t pay back his mortgage then the loan lender will take the house and the land lord would have wasted a large sum of money for nothing. It’s not about homelessness it’s about theft.
Edit: if she has enough disposable income to buy a security guard then she has enough income to afford rent

@@Otzkar There's also those few cases where people have broken into someone's house who have gone away on holiday, and then claimed squatters rights when the home owners return and try to rightfully get them kicked out. Nothing to do with landlords in that case.

Finally I’ve been waiting for a new vid
what a different story that'd be in the usa. "oh no there is an intruder in my 2nd house. I guess i will have to defend myself with my self defense shotgun" and then either the cops or the mortician would scoop her up and get her tf out
I had a similar situation earlier this year. House squatting like this is literally a weird stupid grey area that cops are not interested in dealing with.
I had a friend who needed a place to stay, it was christmas so i was like "I'll help someone else out, i've been kicked out of a rental on christmas." so i decided to help them out.
They asked to just drop off a few items of furniture i said yeah, they actually placed an entire household of furniture in my driveway, which i wasn't happy about. He said he'd only stay for about two weeks, a month later he still hadn't found a place to go. He was more interested in drinking beer or going out to the pub to get more beer.
Months go by & i say its time for him to move on, he refuses. He tells me he has 'no where to go' and i roast him a bit saying he should have enough money put away to rent somewhere else for a bit. "Nah i'm broke" he says. So he has obviously been spending his pay on grog. I get fed up with it & lock him out of my house, so he decides to live under my house instead (Queenslander) & i call the cops about it several times, they essentially say i'll need to contact someone as hes technically 'within his rights' and i 'invited him onto the property' so theres nothing they can do to move him on.
For months i deal with the stress of this, trying to get him to move out until he finally knocks on my door & says hes moving on, but not before trashing up my entire front & backyard for another 1-2 weeks, i call the cops on him again about entering my property, they finally get him to shoo & i never see the bastard again.
It is so fucking stupid you cannot get any help for these types of people who take advantage of you.

If I was the owner I'd just start fucking up the house. Destroying doors windows and everything else. They can't do anything to him because he owns the place and the woman has to choose between leaving and freezing to death when winter comes. We have a house in the south of the US for winter vacations and one year we went inside to find a family of 5 homeless people squatting in our house cooking meth smh.

Similar thing happened to me. Where we live was planned to be a development area, many peole sold, but about this time the 2008 housing crash happened. So the houses sat derilect for about 5 years, in that time multiple homless took over the houses filling them with trash and burning one down. Now, long story short, people bought them and started an illegal pot grow. Fun times.
