This is just so freak amazing! You're taking it to another level! The amount of people learning this methods and improving it on their own ways will become a legacy! Thank you so much!
I've been running ToTM maps like this for 7 years, even since I started playing in roll20. When I clicked on this video, tbh I was ready to scoff at the idea of someone making a 'guide' for something that seemed obvious to me. I was very wrong, a lot of these tips; especially using clouds rather than fog, and using ambient sound instead of a 'background track' are *fantastic* tips that I will immediately adopt. Thankyou.
@@PyramKing I'm trying to copy these, first time DM and first time foundry user; Dancing Lights only works on 0.6.6 - Blitz recommends CommunityLighting but that in itself only runs on 0.7.5 and Foundry is @ 0.7.9. Do you have a module that you run currently for 7.9?
@@tiny18090 I now use Community Lighting and made a new video on how I do that. Here: ruclips.net/video/QNMxFML02BI/видео.html This is for 7.x Thanks for watching.
I'm definitely copying this. I find that a common resolution for wallpapers is 1920 x 1080, which is divisible by a 120 pixel grid, this makes it easier to create the bounding box by forcing snap (I prefer invisible walls all around and just use a dark background).
There is also a great module for lighting that allows you to adjust the lighting circles without having to play with the numbers. It makes it so you can drag the circles for adjusting as if you'd just placed it.
This was such a cool demonstration, thanks a lot. We are starting CoS on Foundry this weekend and I've already made a road and intro tavern one of these. Just have to get the outside of the death house as a scene too and I think this is going to be a ton of fun. Just noticed the Dancing lights isn't supported anymore though..
Blitz made a new light system called community lights. I am also DMing CoS on Foundry. We stream our games on Thursdays 6pm London Time on RUclips. Our group just left Vallaki...the last several sessions are posted. Have fun. Note - I have few CoS tips as well.
You can create polygon shaped lighting effects using normal or ethereal walls, drop the light source inside and it will be contained in whatever shape you created. Make sure token vision is disabled which is likely on these types of TotM maps and the players will see the light. I've been inspired by your TotM maps and found a picture with a potion bottle on it, i filled the bottle with a swirling fog light to make it look like it was full and fluid. Note that this trick won't work on battle maps due to the token vision most likely needing to be on.
Great idea! Trying this out in my next session on Foundry as well. Anyone know good resource to get these scenery images? Some search words are hard to filter when using Google.
This is fantastic thank you for the inspiration! Just bought foundry a d figuring it out! I did notice you can configure music to play when a map is loaded as well set on the scene level, maybe a newer feature?
In theater of the mind I usually turn off fog of war and turn on global illumination. This allows all players to view the entire scene. Hope that helps.
I am using FXMaster - for snow, fog, clouds, and various other special effects. Thanks for watching. I was using Fantasy Grounds but move to Foundry because it was easier and also my players only need a browser and do not need to install or purchase anything.
Thank you for doing this, i never considered make maps in this way. I would love to know how you collect your sound files as those play such an important role in these types of maps?
I recently moved my Rise of the Runelords campaign to Foundry, and was wondering if I was stuck at always using BattleMaps for my players... and boom RUclips shows me your video about Theater of the Mind! HEHE I don't know if should be scared about RUclips reading my mind, or my mind forcing RUclips to show me what I need... LOL In any case, manu thanks for making this!! +1 from The Only Sheet, 3rd party publisher :)

This way of doing theatre of the mind is a revelation, thank you so much!

It looks like Dancing Lights is no longer working with the current version of Foundry ;(

Yes - I would be interested as well.
Nice video, thanks! IIRC you can move the grid with the cursor keys.
Thanks for the tip. I am always looking to improve.

What do you do whith token vision on theater of the mind and top down maps? Do you have separate tokens? Or another solution for that?

I clicked the like button 3 times 👍
thanks !
Loving these vids! Can you make a vid or explain how to make a Merchant/Loot Rollable Table?
Do I have to add each item to the table manually?
I currently do not use it, but will make a video of it.
@@Karlel25 I do - the reason I do is because I want my shop keeper to have certain items.
I just made a video using tables - hope this helps: ruclips.net/video/x1ZocxJCt-8/видео.html
Do you you do anything to stop the scene from centering on the player when you bring them into the scene
In configure menu - under the core settings - there is an option to turn off pan to token.
How did you change the Backgrund Color so quickly without activating the color selection?
Not sure what you mean. I clicked in the "configure" menu and clicked in the color spectrum or sometimes I use the eye dropper.
Thanks for watching.
@@PyramKing Got it :), btw great video

Were you using a specific module for those weather effects? Haven't seen that many while testing Foundry in order to move my games there.

When you're choosing colours, is the colour picker simply not visible or are you somehow taking colours from the background image?
Color pop-up window not visible. |Thanks for watching.
