- Star Trek Voyager Special Features - Star Trek: The Experience, Part 2
Star Trek: The Experience was a US$70 million permanent Star Trek-themed attraction at the Las Vegas Hilton Hotel, owned by Cedar Fair Enterprise, containing shops styled after the Deep Space 9 Promenade, a restaurant styled after Quark's, The History of the Future Museum (which was a large collection of props and artifacts), and the Klingon Encounter and Borg Invasion 4D rides. The store was the largest Star Trek-themed store in the world.
The Experience opened with 2,500 on hand for a gala premier on 3 January 1998. It was originally a property owned by Paramount Parks, built by Landmark Entertainment resort/theme park developer and coordinated by the Paramount/Viacom licensing division. It was sold to Cedar Fair, owner of Knotts Berry Farm, with the other Paramount Parks division amid the parent Viacom split of CBS and Paramount Pictures in 2006. The facility played host to parties, receptions, weddings, scheduled events, and conventions. Those who wished to hold their wedding there could have it in Starfleet uniform on the bridge of the USS Enterprise-D, with Star Trek aliens such as Ferengi and Klingons as witnesses. The bridge facility was available for photo opportunities and costumes could be rented for the same.
Star Trek: The Experience "Klingon Encounter" and "Borg 4D" adventures uniquely combined ride simulators, accurately detailed sets, special effects and trained, dedicated costumed live actors to make guests truly feel they were actually in the Trek universe. The site offered tie-in parties, photo opportunities and sidebar events when Creation Entertainment's annual Star Trek convention was held at the Hilton in August. Развлечения
Wow. Too bad I never got the chance to visit. It must have been incredible having to dismantle that whole thing at the end.
It is a shame it closed, I am Soooooo glad I was able to go see this before it did close.. I had the BBQ rack of targ.. that was my favorite dish.. I must have taken the ride about 7 times in 2 days.. it was great, got my pic taken on the bridge of the Enterprise D..
BRING IT BACK!!!!
Absolutely amazing, out of this world. Even if you only experienced it once it is something you would never forget.
They don't make experiences like this anymore. I miss these days 😪
this place was awesome!!!! i remember when i took a picture with a female ferengi, and went to quarks bar and then ate some klingon food with tribble tenders and a warp core breach.
Wish Paramount could bring this back.
Wow wish it was still there i always wanted to go
If only I was born in the early 80s. Oh to walk on DS9
I wish they would build a place like this in the UK, I'd find the money and time somehow to go there! I'll even work there if needed lol.
Bring back the Experience
I guess Hilton got assimilated by the Borg and we lost our Star Trek experience.
2:50 "That's no hologram! That's my wife!"
Janeway probably WOULD grind up the Borg and feed them to people. And it would still be better than Neelix's cooking.
win. lmao.
hey, don't hate on Neelix..at least he can make a Raktajino compared to others
SF debris is that you?
Why in the world did they EVER close this? I live in Thailand, but I would happily fly around the planet to experience something like this...any and know hundreds of thousands of people would do the same!
It changed shape but didn't close entirely. The exhibits moved to a science museum in St Louis for a few years and then was supposed to share a building in Orlando, FL with a CSI exhibit. I think it ended up in Germany which hosts FedCon, the biggest Star Trek convention outside of the USA.
It *totally* closed. The stuff from the 'museum' was just on loan from Paramount who owned it all. Then they loaned it out to other exhibits like the other museums in Orlando and Germany, etc. ST:TE was a licensed attraction run and shut down by Cedar Fair entertainment
"As the brand grows, Star Trek: The Experience will grow." Conversely she also implies what happened in the decline of the 2000s; "As the brand dies, Star Trek: The Experience will die."
It's a shame it's not around anymore, I enjoyed the transporter!
@tyraela115 They closed as the contract with Cedar Fair and the Hilton was up and Cedar Fair didnt want to continue it. Its still rumored though to trying to find another home in Vegas witha different backer.
@eric3060 sweet costume dude
Damn, i wish i participated that event. I so wouldve inagined myself as my starfleet persona, Fleet Admiral Sinbad Naiver, captain of the U.S.S Legend, NCC-155722-B.
Or Lieutenant Junior Grade Sinbad Naiver, Assistant Chief of security aboard the U.S.S Cry wolf.
That looks awesome! I'd love to go there!
“Come to Quark's, Quark's is fun, come right now, don't walk - run!”
Cool :)
breathtaking is all i can describe.
Gene Rodenberry would probbly be adored by many at things like this if he were still alive.
Shame he had to die. Anyways live long n prosper star trek universe.
Can anyone let me know when this place is going to re-open? Possibly in the next 20 years?
But why in Federations name would they close it? Was it not profitable enough? It`s probably Ferengi`s fault! Any ideas?
Borg, the other red meat...
enterprise series killed it.
DS9 opened the coffin, Voyager shot, and enterprised nailed the coffin
that is where i wanna get married
Got time travel? Only way that's gonna happen.
