it's so nice to see that there's a dude that has to go trough the same s**t like me!! Not always these "BOOM! there you have quintuplets!!" that makes u wanna quit... very cool Brandon!
This is great, looking forward to getting stuck in to these. Love from the UK! Also it’s hilarious how shocked you are by them but YOU wrote them! Hahahaha
It's rewarding to watch honest videos without the edited mistakes Demonstrate humility and reality in the drum studio Greetings and thanks for your videos
Where's Anika? I watched the whole video, and rewired my whole brain about quintuplet grooves, which will likely revolutionize my playing, waiting for the cameo 😨😱😂
The 80/20 Drummer Hahaha whenever I think of quints I think of her... I guess that’s why I threw her in the thumbnail. I’m sure she plays one of these grooves! 🤷🏻♂️😂
You are a gifted teacher and I love your sense of humor so much that I would love to meet in person. I hope your friends are similar to you and you rock 👍
Dude! in order to play Quintuplet & Alsace temples, just use alternating single stroke stickings!….the left hand will always play 2&4!…. (if you start with the right hand that is)! It’s easier to play five at fast tempos! You know : R L R L R /L R L R L R! etc.
Thank you for being real. Your videos are fun to watch and educational! I’m trying to teach myself how to play. I literally just bought an electric drum set and started a week ago. I found your RUclips channel today. I’m excited to try different sequences over the weekend.
Thank's great teaching. And a great video it will help me because i don't read music every thing i do on drums is by sights and hearing but you showed me something new to practice
Very nice sir! I've been experimenting with quintuplet grooves myself this summer, really fun, and really uncomfortable :-) This was a very structured way of practicing them with different variations, inspired me to do it more, thanks!
Hello, Could you please explain to me, why you wrote those 3d and 4th hihat notes in every quintuplet as sexteenths in ex.6? We've got other notation in my school, so I'm not that good in the classical notation, but aren't they the same as 8ths in that groove?
Great video, some pretty interesting ideas to work on. By the way, I think the notation of example 6 shouldn’t have the sixteenth notes, it makes the phrase in 4.
To count 5's, I was taught to say the 5 syllable word "U-ni-ver-si-ty". I expect other 5 syllable words could also work. Thinking of a fivelet as a single word makes it easier for me to fit a 5 into a bar of 3s or 4s.
Hi Brandon! First thing: this series of what to practice is really cool! Second thing: i'm struggling to find a practice routine that gives me hints of improvement. Do you think it's better to stick to one single excercise for a particular period of time until you get it perfect or switch excercises every day of practice?
I don’t change my practice stuff until I can play them without thinking. And I practice long to get to that point quicker. With breaks when I get tired mentally.
interesting question actually, I find I mostly do whatever I feel like at the time so I switch around a fair bit e.g. working on samba rhythms or transcribing tunes or double kick. however I regularly do some pad rudiment practice, doubles, 6stroke roll etc. with a metronome and really focusing on hand technique. seems like I've been improving a lot with that. like a half formal and half informal approach.
Your a nice player! I enjoy your your videos! Good work! Keep em coming! Send me a message.... I have a hoodie I want to send you because you inspire people!

Putting all the fish on the counter…what a great aphorism! I assure you I will be using that one!

Ex.3 is nice!
18:25 finally someone gets what I'm going through.
Hello,

We've got other notation in my school, so I'm not that good in the classical notation, but aren't they the same as 8ths in that groove?
It isolates the hat/ride pattern in the groove i guess
Its notated wrong
on pc there's a button on the keyboard called "print screen" LOL
your handwriting is gorgeous
These really groove man
What metronome app is that?
Great video, some pretty interesting ideas to work on. By the way, I think the notation of example 6 shouldn’t have the sixteenth notes, it makes the phrase in 4.

My favourite groove is the 9th one. I will definitely go and practice those grooves now! Quintuplets are really cool

Widows+shift+s for pc users.. 😉
I was thinking just 'print screen' but I guess then you have to go through the trouble of pasting it in software and saving it. Thanks!
