I got this a few weeks ago and so far its great for ps1 and below. Its also very handy to plug in to my samsung tv and use as a console. Once it was set up Ive enjoyed the ps1 games, mame arcade and nintendo games I missed when I was a kid. Very happy with my purchase! :)
@@andyc7777 Yes, there is a mini hdmi out on the handheld. You can get a cable which connects to your tv via hdmi then. If ou look for reviews of the rps2 you can see people using it that way. I am also able to change aspect ratio to 4:3 for older games which is awesome.

I can say this, you don't want the $99 one for one reason alone. Android 11 eats up 1.7GB just to load. With the 4GB one, I'm left with 2.3GB for loading apps and their data. Also, given Android 11 wanting to put everything on your internal storage and hiding it from you, 32GB internal storage is going to suck for people who don't know how to deal with that. Honestly, the $119 version is the only version to get if you plan on doing much with it.
Thanks to a sale an a bunch of coupons I managed to whittle the price down to $91 including tax and shipping for the 4GB model, very much looking forward to it arriving.
Love the review! like you said the analog sticks are great. Also, for PSP, I would recommend setting the screen size to 0.85 to reduce the black bars. It is the sweet spot imo. also, what build of dolphin did you use for Mario Sunshine? im getting slow downs in Bianco Hills
It’s a nightly build of dolphin. I’d assume mine is out of date and the latest is the best one to go with. For Sunshine I can’t remember if I did some undercooking - but it’s pretty high chance I did. Thanks for watching!! 😊
There are quick settings in that menu - button to screen mapping, ABXY button swaps, FPS counter, etc. If I remember correctly you can also turn it off
Thanks so much! Yes can definitely do PS1 upscale! I haven’t really explored the world of Sega Saturn but that IS something coming in my next video! Thanks for watching!
Hope to be receiving mine tonight! Seems to me based on reviews that this device is close to flawless. Maybe in the future it could have an upgraded screen with smaller bezels and strong cpu so that it could handle all of GC and PS2 games. That's all I can even think of.
Very different - 2S has a much more powerful chipset that can handle even some GameCube and PS2. But I like the simplicity of the 35xxH and how it reminds me of the RG351
My gamecube games crash every now and then. Any suggestions? Gameplay is good outside of the crashes. Maybe I need to make sure to have the PAL version?
It could be the 3GB of RAM. I would definitely stick to the PAL versions of games and make sure you’ve got the latest development build of Android. Thanks for watching! 😊
So weird that it’s even marked up at all. Both the 3 Plus and the 2S are available directly on Retroid’s site. But if you get a good deal used could be worth it!
How is the android experience? Is it snappy or sluggish? I wanted to use this thing for youtube and spotify. I figure, if its in my pocket, I might as well!
I’ve had the Retroid Pocket 4 for less than three weeks, and I’m completely disappointed. The screen is too small, the ergonomics is uncomfortable, and the audio quality is poor comparing the price you pay. Overall, it feels like a completely worthless device. The worst part is the Android OS - it makes the console feel like an outdated phone with buttons. With my experience I truly think that Retroid it’s a overrated brand … Before you buy this device better think it twice ✌🏻

Recommend buying a micro sd card for more storage
thanks for review, mate! Liked and subscribed!

How do I get mine to run games as fast as yours??
Wait a minute, yours looks like it’s running super Mario sunshine slow just like mine does

How is the heating in this one?
Any reason why there is a small white bar on the right edge of the screen?
There are quick settings in that menu - button to screen mapping, ABXY button swaps, FPS counter, etc.
If I remember correctly you can also turn it off
What about sega Dreamcast? Does it play Capcom vs snk 2, marvel VS capcom 2 and sonic adventure 2 battle smoothly?
I can tell you Dreamcast runs great. Sonic Adventure 2 runs extremely smooth. As for games like m.v.c 2 those should run just fine as well.
@@KovanNovawhat about the gamecube version of SA2?
I Really like your style of review. Don’t forget, you can also upscale ps1 and Saturn games on this thing too!

I couldn't help but notice that almost every video of this uses the green one. if I can do GameCube on this thing I think I will def wishlist it.

what emulator and bios are you using?? any extra custom config?? and yea PAL version of games are recommended for better performance
Usa android mmjr2 vbi para la mayoría de juegos y Versión pal.
That subshine is notttt full speed
This is selling for more than the 3plus on eBay. I bought the 3 plus since it’s cheaper so win win !

@@ScatteredBrain I think it might be because you have to wait a while to get it shipped from China on their site but I’m not sure
Ah! That’s fair. There’s definitely an argument to pay a bit more for faster shipping!
But it can’t really play all GC games can it? So more like pocket “half a GameCube”
Hey 4gb ram 128gb storage version is now 99$ and thats great value❤
Where
But why does it cost $50+ more on Amazon?
On Amazon it’s not sold by Retroid. The only benefit on Amazon is just ultra fast prime shipping and easy returns. But sometimes it’s worth it!

I don't understand why Mario Sunshine is running so slow in your footage, it's much much better on my machine.
mario sunshine runs realy bad on my rp2s

A PS Vita Dpad? What? That's so sad. That thing hurts. But everything the Vita is just hurts... So I can't buy a Retroid ever with that Dpad.
