I enjoyed watching this video very much. I was at Intel from the summer of 1980 until the late spring of 1986. I'd been the last member added to the team that created the 8086 Pascal compiler with John Crawford. Afterwards I went on to work on the software debug support for the 8086, but was included in some of the deliberations regarding architecture issues with the 386 and other potential microprocessors. It was nice to hear John mention the debug support in the 386, because that was one area where I was more closely involved. It was also nice that John's guitar playing was mentioned. I don't know when I saw or heard him play, but I remember it well. Again, thank you. This video brought back fond memories.

Is it not true that the Space shuttle used 386 architecture many years after it became outdated? This was due to the reliability of the architecture, something that has never been equalled. The engineering principles have stood the test of time. One thing is for sure I would not want to be on a space flight with Apple microprocessors running the show.
