I wish people would start comprehending this. It was hard at first, before the demonstrations. But now it's really easy to see what happens when objects are in apparent free fall.
@andy … So ! Is the Earth actually moving upward or is it a force emanating from our earths surface ? Bear in mind that this was one of Einstein’s thought experiments to demonstrate reference frames . Levelheaded William and Del seem to be great proponents of the bottle experiment where the bubble in the bottle goes toward the directional vector . My opinion ( perhaps erroneous) is it is due to pressure . (1) what would happen if the plastic bottle was replaced by a robust steel container? (2) what would happen if the medium in the container was changed to a more viscous liquid? (3) what would happen if the medium in the container was pressurised ? . (4) what would happen if the volume of the container was increased 10 fold ? (5) what would happen if the only medium in the container was air ? I note that words are ‘ chopped and changed ‘ inasmuch sometimes it is said to be - [a] The ground moves upwards . [b] The Earth moves upwards . I’d appreciate if you could enlighten me on perhaps my misunderstanding of this.
26:42 to 27:20 what will help people more I think as well is understanding that the force is applied pressure, a push, a pressing force, so people need to comprehend that pull isn’t a force and that it’s just a descriptor of the direction, once people grasp this fundamental principle of how matter is moved they should start to understand it better, this is an important part of what’s being discussed and shown in the demonstrations Another excellent video Amanda keep at em.
@@Andrew-nj2tn Funny you should say that! There may be a little something coming in the near future that deals with the applied pressure, no pull issue. Thank you for the support Andrew!
Hi Amanda, when i try to explain to newbies to this topic that the the earth we stand upon is in motion and that it is a level plain, i like to highlight. The motion of the earth is detected by: Level water. Air pressure is highest at sea Level. The Buoyancy effect with objects is also due to the motion of the earth and the pressure it creates at sea Level. And when you release an object from your hand it looses it's momentum and at the same moment in time the ground you stand on is rising to meet the object during it's decelerating phase. We optically observe this event called falling. The object after released from my hand was still traveling upwards, just slowing down until the ground/earth makes contact with it. All the above effects can be practically demonstrated, observed and explained using physics. Now ask someone to explain GRAVITY 😂
@@Wildcherry1380 Well said! I love this! It’s so easy to explain and understand especially when you have the practical to back it up. Those who are honest with themselves will see it. And those who aren’t, well, they’ll just keep doing what they do. ☺️
@@Wildcherry1380 Ok ! Walk me through this like I’m a 6 year old.I’m asking as I dont understand this nor observe it . (1) does the surface of our Earth physically move upward ? 7:08 ok, so why is it losing speed and appears to come down? Because it is denser than air? I understand the demonstration and observation but i want to know why and how 🤔
@@dk296 Thank you for the questions! The object is losing speed bc the primary force has been removed. Meaning the earth is still pushing the medium of the air upward but the air is not dense enough to keep pushing the object up. Think of it this way, if you could suddenly change the medium to a thick oil, it would be able to push more on the object. But in this case it is air which isn’t dense enough. The object is also being effected by inertia which is resistance to motion helping to slow it down. The reason it looks like it’s moving down is bc you are still moving up at a constant speed and every second that passes you’ll be moving that much faster than the object. Hope that clarifies your questions. 😊
