How many people are aware that when London Breed was in her early twenties she offered a false alibi for her brother who had just committed a heinous murder in S.F. ? Indeed, after an armed robbery of a restaurant in the Marina district (!!) her brother fled with his female accomplice north across the Golden Gate bridge with the police in pursuit, and in a desperate and genuinely evil attempt to provide a diversion pushed his female accomplice out of the car into traffic where she was immediately struck and killed. He was caught the next day, and London Breed swore to the police that he'd been home asleep on the sofa when the alleged robbery took place. Now I'm not a lawyer, but I'm pretty sure that lying to cover up a murder is a serious felony, and yet Breed was not charged. In fact just two years ago, having slithered up through the halls of the Burton/Brown machine and somehow becoming S.F. mayor, she petitioned the retiring California governor Jerry Brown to pardon her brother, who's doing life. Brown denied her petition.

Besides, she never said that she will ONLY help black people or that black people are better than everyone else. Yes, it is true, but all men are not being treated equally. In 1776, all men were not treated equally either. There were millions of enslaved black people in the US. Slavery was only ended in 1865. The point of the protests is that all people SHOULD be treated equally which would fulfill the ideals of the U.S. Declaration of Independence.

Yes, we are all equal. Mayor breed is not saying that she will not help people of other races. She is just saying that she identifies as a black person and understands the injustices that black people have faced. The racism/discrimination/police brutality black people face are the vestiges of slavery. Black people are the ONLY GROUP/RACE that were enslaved for 350 years. Slavery ended only 155 years ago and black people only were allowed to vote 55 years ago. There have been improvements, but clearly we have a long way to go. Hopefully, from this tragedy, people can acknowledge that racism/discrimination still exists and work towards equal treatment for people of all races.
