People need to fire that fucking photographer for harassing him and crossing his boundaries (when he didn't want to be photographed). Also, the photographer made fun of Joost's dead parents. Joost had every right to defend himself and his parents.

Exactly, he has been dreaming about this since he was young. He was in the Dutch news almost every day in the weeks and months before Eurovision. He was always so happy and it was amazing to see. Very sad to see it end like this. I'll keep listening to the song on Spotify, it's great.

Yes exactly. Joost have been dealing with mental health problems due to the trauma of having discovered his mom death on the sofa. That traumatised him hugely and also losing his both parents within 1 year as a child. So I'm very worried about his mental health and well being after the second great robbery of the century.

I’m Canadian, we are totally outside of this scene. When I discovered Joost and his story I thought this was the best thing Eurovision could ever want. Reunite countries with good energy and joy. I even thought it was sad that Canada wasn’t taking part in this contest. Boy oh boy was I wrong…. I’m profoundly sad and upset for Joost and for everyone in the Netherlands. This contest might have been a good idea at first but now it’s a fucking joke. I sincerely hope AVOTROS will sue the EBU and Netherlands will stop participating unless a major change is brought in this contest especially with the financial contributions and evaluation methods.
It is clear to me that Joost was eliminated because he was going to be the public winner by far and the EBU didn’t want that. This harassment thing was a trap. Ironically, Joost had promised something that had never been seen before…. Promised delivered! He totally wrecked the EBU by allowing everyone to see what is really going on in there.

there’s no need to punch someone even if they’re making fun of you in this or what way, while it may be difficult it CAN be avoided and ISNT necessary to punch someone. this all could’ve been easy avoided by Joost.

The EBU made a very dubious decision. Shame on them. Both for letting Israel participate (at least be consistent after having banned Russia), and for disqualifying Joost after a minor incident in which the camera woman had a huge part by not respecting his wish to not be filmed. Shame on them!

If we speak anyway in an alternative timeline: I don't think he won't have won. But he would have probably got a lot of points, which now went to the top countries, Croatia, Swiss, maybe Ukraine. Imagine someone filming you while you asked not to be filmed and then you ask a couple of times if she could stop filming but continues to film anyway. No wonder he got angry. They wanted to get rid of him and did. Also 🇭🇷 would’ve won but thanks to the Jury, they didn’t. It’s all just a game of politics, not a contest of who’s got the best song.

He was absolutely robbed. The camerawoman wouldn't stop filming him after being asked to stop multiple times, so Joost made a slightly threatening hand movement (not touching her) as a way of getting her to stop. Keep in mind he was probably thinking about his parents at that moment because of the performance he just did. Imagine how many emotions were going through his head. That camerawoman should be ashamed of herself.

About these allegations: the Dutch broadcasting service AVROTROS has told us what happened (in Dutch). A camerawoman followed Joost to the greenroom after his performance. Joost wasn't supposed to be filmed at that moment, there wasn't supposed be a camera there. Joost asked the camerawoman repeatedly to stop filming him. She kept following him. Joost made a threatening gesture to the camera. He did not touch her. The EBU apparently says that is not what happened, but they do not want to tell us what happened according to them.

8 hours ago, the Ebu came forward with this: “The Dutch artist Joost Klein was disqualified from the Grand Final of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest following threatening behaviour directed at a female member of the production crew. Swedish police have investigated the offence, and the case will soon be handed over to the prosecutor in an accelerated procedure.
Joost’s behaviour was in clear breach of Contest rules which are designed to ensure there is a safe working environment for all staff and to protect the production. We are not pre-judging the legal process but, given the circumstances of what occurred and the fact that the police case will shortly be handed to the prosecutor, it would not have been appropriate for Joost to participate in the Grand Final.
The decision to exclude him was backed by the Contest’s governing body of Members - the Eurovision Song Contest Reference Group - and unanimously supported by the EBU Executive Board, following a thorough internal investigation.
The version of events released in some public comments and on social media does not correspond with the statements shared with us and the Swedish Police by staff and witnesses. However, the matter is now subject to legal proceedings and there is unfortunately nothing further we can add at this stage.
We have a zero-tolerance policy towards inappropriate behaviour at our events and will always take necessary action to address threats to staff - no matter who they come from.”

I'm not going to watch Eurovision anymore after all of this shit. When Eurovision gets their shit together, and do better, then I'll start watching it again. I've been watching Eurovision since 2021 when Blind Channel (Finland) was competing against Maneskin (Italy) in the Grand Final. In my opinion, Eurovision has a track record of screwing over the artists who should have rightfully won the contest. Honestly, I don't think that the judges take the audience votes into consideration. I think that the judges make their decisions based off of their favorite artists, and the political issues going on in the artists' countries, and who they vote for. In my opinion, Eurovision fucked over Blind Channel, The Rasmus (2022), Kaarija (2023) and Joost (2024). And Isreal got so much shit this year that wasn't needed. Also, Eurovision's voting system is fucked up, and I never trust it
People need to understand that a lot of the the civilians in Palastine and Isreal don't want this war to happen. A lot of people in those countries are not hurting anyone, and they don't control what their governmnents do. It's the same situation with Ukraine and Russia. I remember when a lot of Russian people protested the war outside of Putin's hometown.
Politics should never get involved in music. The only exception should be when the song is making a positive political statement to try to help make this shitty world a better place by making a positive change. Eurovision's "motto" is United By Music which is a fucking joke to me. They should change their motto to "Divided By Politics, Hypocrisy and Bullshit" because that's exactly what it is.
In the situation with Joost-they threw away one of the most talented and entertaining artists I've ever seen (in my honest opinion). I've been listening to Europapa on repeat for a while, and his music is amazing, and it makes me happy (just like The Rasmus' music). In my honest opinion, this situation is just as tragic as how Kalush got pitty points when they competed in 2022. It's no disrespect to Kalush because I love that band but to me, that situation is a good example of how politics determine who wins Eurovision.
