It's ironic that Mareoshin was more competent than his son, it also explains how a Marechiyo got his position. It's also hilarious how Mareoshin called out Soifon in one of the novels, accusing her of getting complacent since Yoruichi returned. Soifon responded that she'd get better and work Marechiyo harder, much to his panic. Regarding the nobles it's interesting that only Yoruichi and Marechiyo are popular with the public in the postwar era, the others not so much for obvious reasons.
I imagine Ukitake was the most popular noble before the war. That'd be understandable, considering it is impossible to hate that man. Kaien was also likely popular when he was alive. And we know Kukaku commands respect in Rukongai. Among the Gotei 13, it seems Kensei holds nobles such as Shunsui, Yoruichi, and even Byakuya in high regard (probably Ukitake as well) but has disdain for the rest.
For nobility to join Gotei 13 is clearly a traditional thing. Marechiyo clearly didn’t want to be part of the military. He was literally put in the same squad as his father. For the likes of Byakuya or Yoruichi it’s more of upholding the status quo so the laws are upheld. But the most exceptional aren’t nobles
I suspect the main reason why Soifon resented Youruchi so much is that she was left with incompetent Omeada as a assistant. She had to hire him due to custom or some form of respect towards Omeada clan.
Omaeda is her cousin or nephew. It's how she has access to his money and he never complains about it. Also you usually only see love interest or female family make physical contact like Shunsui, Nanao and Lisa or Hiyori and Shinji
It seems that Nobles have the even Number Squads save Squad one and the others trained have the even numbers. Note Shunsui considered Yoruichi for Squad 8 not another
I think squad tens captain at the time was Furuoki Outokawa, the original captain of squad 10. I believe he may have been one of the few to settle down and make it this far besides Unohana, Sasikibe and Yamamoto. And I theorize that the “loss” was him dying of old age. And that I think by that point Isshin was his lieutenant or seated officer possibly
It can't be, Shunsui and Ukitake were saying that them and Unohana are the oldest captains (aside from Yamamoto) Edit: oh sorry you meant that he just died, well maybe
I think Kubo just couldn't be bothered making original designs for irrelevant characters, so he made them related to people like Iba, Sentaro and Omaeda who nobody cares about.
2:21 Must have been one hell of a Hollow. Regardless of mentality, he was still a Vice-Captain and member of the Great Noble clans.

@@nodatastored684Soifon and Omaeda are related? Honestly, that explains a lot.
All of the lieutenants from the original story should have achieved Bankai in hell arc. So that they are braced against the new threats
I wanna know who was Soya Azashiro's vice captain before things went down and he went to prison
Hisagi is probably my favorite Lieutenant

That piece of art appears in the Bleach JET artbook too. I was surprised because it was my first time seeing it.

When Byakuya defeated Renji, and left his guardian scarf on Renji, it was Seinosuke who arrived and healed Renji....
What fujitora is doing here?
