I’m in my early 70’s and started growing last fall when Minnesota legalized. I’ve joined and quit several gardening groups as older folks who don’t refer to others as “growmies” and walk around in cannabis themed clothing aren’t a good fit in the “culture”. I’m just an old guy with a simple grow, soil, smaller pots, small tents and lights and an 11x12 room to cram it all into. I grow in soil, three two gallons for autos and variety in a 2x4. One photo in a 3x3. I am not tech challenged having worked with it for years but I want my gardening to be a relaxing retirement hobby. I ballpark the temp and humidity, don’t pay attention to a lot of things but still manage to grow fire that gets great reviews from everyone who has tried it. I grew up on a hobby farm and worked on a truck farm in the 60’s. Worked at NK seeds in the 80’s in the office and took coffee with seed breeders. Also worked a big yard for 50+ years and grew tomatoes, peppers etc. Gardening isn’t rocket science but it seems like a lot of folks want to push a few buttons and have a perfect crop. I lean towards the GT WTTGT method of keeping things simple, relax and focus. I started with his routine and have made changes but that basic simplicity got me started. Interesting shows but you guys are way more into technology than most older growers. There are people growing great cannabis using very simple grow routines. Us old folks started with brick weed full of dirt, stems, seeds and probably things we don’t want to know. We are still trying to figure out how weed morphed into candy, fruit and cheese flavors. 😂
PS, I’m retired so I was able to watch GT’s entire grow guide series. I took notes like I was sitting through a college course. My first three plants were three Bubba Kush photos that turned out great. The next few were Autoflowers and those went great as well. The only changes I made to his suggestions was to add silica, recharge and try a couple bloom boosters and molasses. I leaned about PPFD and DLI on Mr. Growit and found a light guide for autos and photos. That is helping a lot. Learning to grow online is possible but I had a mentor on speed dial. She recommended GT’s basic grow method as a starting point and I am having great success. The only other thing I changed is that I line starting seeds in their final pot both autos and photos. Watering is kind of tricky for the first few weeks but that was easy to lean by watching the plant and giving it what it needs. That is where the farm and gardening background comes in. I can look at a plant and figure out what it needs. Had to do a foliar spray on my first grow but was happy that I brought it back. 😊
@@GregDunne-zf2ep The younger folks that have sampled my TLC grows are baffled that an old guy could figure it out and nail the smoothness and grow fire on his first attempt. I have no idea as I even surprised myself. Has to be good genetics because if this was golf I'd be labeled a hacker. ;)
@@CharlieWaffles420 I have dug into things like ppfd and DLI with my lights. That’s about as technical as I am going to get about gardening. I worked on a truck farm in the mid 60’s and lived on a hobby farm. It’s hard to get very technical about gardening with my background.
You should have Mr Canucks on if he's still around. I'm sure many of us have watched him from way back, was a great ambassador for the small home growers. Made it simple for a lot of people with small home grows back in the day before all the tents and automation

I feel so lucky that I grew up in the country here in Ohio. Even though it’s been illegal, I’ve been growing outside for 30yr here. It’s not easy, but it makes sense to me. Exactly. I didn't get into gardening as a retirement hobby to rack my brain programming gadgets and chasing numbers. I have a question for all you fellas. Have you ever recorded an interview that you did not upload and why? Excluding emergencies, yet more of a blooper show that would be funny to watch. Love you guys! 🎉
Easiest for me is using promix or ffof & ffhf and top dressing with down to earth dry ammendment fertilizer once a month or so. In flower I get on a schedule of watering microbes and good bacteria into soil and humic acids and silica as well. I do ph my tap water to 6.5 everytime I water with general hydroponics ph down...I use unsulphured blackstrap molasses in flower as well..like 2-4 times
I do pretty much the same type of grow only I use the GH bottled nutrients. Doing it that way I only have to feed them a couple times through the entire grow. I go from 1 gal to 3 gal to 5 gal with photos. Straight to 2 gallon with a few autos. I grow half the number of plants allowed and give each one individual TLC. I have a couple autos that I fed once and that will take them to flush. The flush and cure and timing the harvest, got that all figured out as well.
PS, the bottled nutes will probably last me until I'm 85 or six feet under. If I manage to use them up or get tired of flushing salt buildup I'll look into something else. $300 invested in nutes on a retirement income and the wife pays the bills. I don't want to have to try and explain that to her. LOL

I use a "Niwa Grow Hub +", and have been for 2.5 years. Organic only soil BAS. The problem with NIWA is that their algorithm needs a little AI maybe, so that it would be: set the VPD for the stage of grow, and the software uses the available environment inputs like lights, a/c, heater, extraction fan, humidifier and/or dehumidifier (I live in AZ desert so no dehumidifier.) The algorithm has to also know and use the ambient conditions to keep the VPD within its correct range based on the best settings for the inputs matched to the ambient conditions. NIWA doesn't seem to have a user setting to adjust the deadband for each factor like temp and dew point . The software needs some improvement, and they are trying, but the deadband issue has been a known problem the longest. I wonder if AC Infinity or others have got this VPD control down...?
I popped my first seed in 1992. I read, I was taught, I learned from great folks in the community such as these 3 young gentlemen. Guess what. $h!t still happens. Stay vigilant. Stay educated. Stay lifted ✌️😶🌫️👍. Great episode guys.
Guys this EP was as solid as a something really hard? Ew grossThat sounds weird eh lol but my point is you couldn't have nailed it any better with regards to everything is subjective. All methods can be the easiest and or the hardest depending on the individual. Well done guys my hat goes off to yous . Also especially love how y'all have different opinions or processes and yet you lay it out so well balanced not leaning on any one method. Well done boys!💯
you only got so space .. A 4x4 scrogged out with 18-24 inch tops yeilds way a flat canopy with just the main tops right above the canopy . Again you only got 16 Sqaure feet . You gotta grow vertical once the canopy is filled.
It's me and my girl could be so much better I just don't know how to use the equipment for the ink bird did not use it had to send it back that'd be awesome if you guys could make a video on these equipment I really want to buy the control 69 but when it gets pulled up it looks so technical
I would say AC INFINITY. Talk about devices, what they got coming, and what the community would like to see???? Just thoughts little Q&A about the business
Soil i like organtic sounds hard to put together. Its like chemistry i think . Yo guys i only got a 10 grade education . Hahaha wow so much to learn really its very interesting
Some of the controls on the controller 69 are not that easy to set up and understand. Especially if you actually want to target VPD there are not enough ports to add all variables….its frustrating. But I still like it.
I think the biggest way to learn in the beginning is having an**updated breakdown of areas and what they cover*** I don’t think I seen a flow chart properly educating someone. There will be a chart with words no break down or a breakdown with no visual. Example things to cover: Discussion of the plant? Basic grow stages and id of it What the plant needs? Basic like NPK Usually life cycle? Chop and cure? Then with the flow charts break down of NPK and how to read a nutrition line chart. What are additives? Purpose? When you use them in stages. Understanding ingredients from nuit line and substitute? Just think there is nothing out there like a simple understanding for the 5Ws who, what, where, why, when. A lot less bias and focus on the basic to help one understand
Overwhelming is not easy. There is so much out there you could buy and reference material. You cannot start off as an expert without practice, even with all the reading, videos and podcasts. In my opinion you need to start small and start growing. If you like it, then you can invest more to fit the space, style and price point that works for you. The biggest thing is to not have expectations that everything will be perfect and even your end product is picture perfect. Aim high but temper expectations with your level of experience. You will get better with experience if you like growing and stick with it.
Great episode guys. The easiest way to grow is, and always will be, the way you understand and are the most comfortable with.

The software needs some improvement, and they are trying, but the deadband issue has been a known problem the longest. I wonder if AC Infinity or others have got this VPD control down...?
They gettin shit louder than Ps new shoes 😂😂
James Loud
Garden naked love it! 🤣

I popped my first seed in 1992. I read, I was taught, I learned from great folks in the community such as these 3 young gentlemen. Guess what. $h!t still happens. Stay vigilant. Stay educated. Stay lifted ✌️😶🌫️👍. Great episode guys.
Popped mine in the 70s. Good content. The boys are working it. Great show and great content.
1970 threw a handful of seeds out the back door and a few popped. Does that count? Chopped them with the lawn mower.
Love my Build a Soil 3.0
I’m with p .
Top water , drain to waste but I’m using Masterblend Is the easiest imho.
321 per gallon seed to harvest. Easy peezy.
Y'all should get Kevin jodrey on the show. Dude knows cannabis better than 99 percent of the people out there.
Btw there’s nothing like ac infinity customer service , they just need to do their own version of cannatrol and ac
Still need compact ac to keep my micro grow at 16-18C
caligreen as a guest? tyson, great show guys
In my opinion media types / difficulty
Easiest is soil synthetic
Hydro
Dwc
Living soil
Why is the beat on the stash blend promo so funky tho? 😅
Growweedeasy eas my go to for sooooooooooo long and stilk use it sometimes 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
scotty real
Yall should have Wisler one on the show!🌱🌱
The pain of harvesting with a scrog is why I switched to a disposable net. Now I can just cut it off
Great topic and agreed study, but P you’re bull rider you don’t plan😂😂😂! #scrognation keep up the great work and having fun guys it shows!
Jim belushi would be a good guest he has a grow show
It's me and my girl could be so much better I just don't know how to use the equipment for the ink bird did not use it had to send it back that'd be awesome if you guys could make a video on these equipment I really want to buy the control 69 but when it gets pulled up it looks so technical
Royal gold Tupur and Bokashi earthworks you can’t get much more simple or efficient then that
Bill Ward would be cool
Him or Mr.Canuck
The Caribbean is in North America.
I look at stash blend . But 30 bucks for 8 oz is to expensive for me.
What’s the discord link?
Some of the controls on the controller 69 are not that easy to set up and understand. Especially if you actually want to target VPD there are not enough ports to add all variables….its frustrating. But I still like it.
👊😎👨🚀
Love to see Q from home grown TV he knows he’s shit
I think the biggest way to learn in the beginning is having an**updated breakdown of areas and what they cover***
I don’t think I seen a flow chart properly educating someone. There will be a chart with words no break down or a breakdown with no visual.
Example things to cover:
Discussion of the plant? Basic grow stages and id of it
What the plant needs? Basic like NPK
Usually life cycle?
Chop and cure?
Then with the flow charts break down of NPK and how to read a nutrition line chart.
What are additives? Purpose? When you use them in stages.
Understanding ingredients from nuit line and substitute?
Just think there is nothing out there like a simple understanding for the 5Ws who, what, where, why, when.
A lot less bias and focus on the basic to help one understand
I'll be on the next show....
Kevin Jordrey
Thoes shoes though, I'm not a hater but looks like shoes from nickelodeon 😂
Honestly Id be happy with Mr.Canuck im not sure he'd be down but to hear his input on an episode would be better to me than tommy chong or anyone else
Derek Gilman would be great
Overwhelming is not easy.
Vegas and you don’t know what a shill is 😊. It’s a accomplice, think three card Monty
There are no videos that go in depth on the features and how it works on the controllers
🎉🎉
I say get more of the no-name-yet growers just starting off their channels and give them a jump start.
Great episode! Please get yourselves some mic stands. Looking forward to the next one!

Heads up, audio quality on the podcast for this episode is awful. Grateful the video is listenable
