You can install the foam and upholstery from a 1970 on a 1968 frame. However the backrest locking mechanisms are different so you will need the correct plastic back panel for the 1968 frame. The button on the 1970 is in the middle of the backrest, whereas the button for the 1968 is on the outside edge of the backrest.
