really want to see what the answers are, because I can't think of nobody specifically. Clay has some gospel chops and trap rhythms applied in a math rock context. can't think of no one that does this.
Shiyu from Sokoninaru. ruclips.net/video/kIPRIEm0sGI/видео.html different styles, but the same ability to balance space with things that don't seem physically possible, while perfectly matching the guitars, and the same clear enjoyment of playing like a god.
Josh Eppard from Coheed and Cambria, mainly in the way they avoid cliched pattrens and fit very well into complex arrangements. Also, I'm pretty sure from the armful of Coheed Tattoo's that Clay has that they''re an influence!
Whats crazy to me is at the start of this band their bassist was the most highly trained musician. The growth of the other 3 has been insanely impressive. This new album is gonna be so good. Tim has gotten so much better and thats so hard to comprehend
The way you listen to music reminds me of the way my high school band director did taught us when we watched our own shows to try to improve our shows.
Yo for the first time I actually noticed something with the fill at 5:59-6:02 Clay is actually only using his right hand and bass drum for the fill while playing a splash/hihat triplet with his left hand… that’s dope can’t believe I never noticed that
Clay reminds me of them old guys in the clubs/bars/whatever. Theyve been playing for quite some time. They can let the other members shine, while also bringing the thrash when needed. lol
As far as Polyphia goes, watch the music video for “YAS” featuring solos from the 2 guitarists of Chon. There is a drum play through of that song but the music video is visually amazing and you still see everyone playing their instruments Also you have to check out the video for “Big Pump” live @ ShapeShifter Lab by Now Vs Now. They have the incredible Mark Guiliana on drums and the song essentially establishes an unusual rhythmic idea and then each member solos over it.
Polyphia does not write or play anything remotely approaching easy. Clay Aeschliman is so tuned in that at times it feels like the rest of the group is following him. One of the few instruments I (regrettably) don't play is the drums. However, most of what I do play has a very notable percussive feel. Clay Aeschliman has one of the most unique and mesmerizing styles of any drummer I can think of. Envy!
Love watching Clay play. And yeah, Polyphia's video direction is always great, even in playthroughs. Obviously they all play well, but their marketing and image cultivation as a band (and brand) is pretty wild, too. Super strong visual and sonic identity. Great commentary as usual!
Apparently the click track at a recent live concert failed---he had to take out the ear monitors. So drum tech had to tap his leg temporarily. The techs are lifesavers.
If you want to see him really flex some of the quads training, his playthrough of “Icronic” is really fun and has a pretty sweet crossover fill in there
i would also recommend sleep token. and there is even some drum playthroughs that are titled "from II." sleep token is really interesting. if you do do a sleep token reaction maybe just read a snippet about them 1st.
Love your reaction videos. I really appreciate the technical analyses and break downs. Some reaction suggestions: Infant Annihilator - Cuntcrusher - Drum Play-through (insane drums) Heilung | LIFA - Krigsgaldr LIVE (incredible live performances) Spiritbox - Rule Of Nines Spiritbox - Constance (highly emotional) Spiritbox - Blessed Be
I know you’ve done a ton of polyphia lately but they deserve a good musicians ear and love hearing you do it. They dropped a new track that is insane. Luke Holland already has a drum play through out, which is great, however, there’s something clay has that is missing in Luke’s play through, just a bit more style and taste and finesse that you hear on the track with clay. Have fun!
Hi. You should find time to listen to a drum-session with Anika Nilles and her prog-ish song: "Wild Boy". I think you will find it very tastefull. She is an excellent drummer and has many great songs.
I would like you to react to the ost of Made in abyss Some of the tracks I suggest: Hanezeve caradhina Transcendence and hanezeve Tomorrow The rumble of the scientific triumph
Hi Tony. Greetings from Norway. I am hoping that you can react to the song "TIME" by Wintersun. As you maybe know, Kai from Nightwish plays the drums, and I think that you will really enjoy this one. Have a good day.
This isn't a bad playthrough by any means but it's probably my least favorite as G.O.A.T. to me isn't the song where Clay gets to shine at his brightest. I would recommend checking out his playthroughs of both YAS and OD as both of those songs are great but the drumming in particular really drives those songs more in line with Playing God.
Pls can you react to Bleach Soundtracks like "precipe of the defeat, treachery, invasion and stand up be strong"? Ive seen nobody on youtube reacting to these. it would be really cool

Mike Portnoy during his Dream Theater time, predominantly because of his exceptionally tasty splash inclusion and overall fill awesomeness.

@@chelfyn wow I love this band and yes, the drumming for sure has similarities.
and havent noticed clay got some coheed tattoos, so nice!

I'm so glad you're doing this series on Polyphia. There's a serious lack of knowledgeable drummers commentating on Clays skills on YT.
100% he needs more attention

I fit the description 🤣

I just watched Tim and Scott doing a playthrough of Look but Don't Touch and about died laughing. These guys are dorks. Super fun.

His OD drum playthrough is amazing.
Came here to say this. Imo, it's more interesting than GOAT.
The O.D. playthrough is the best one to date so that's the Polyphia song you should do next.
Nah.
Yah.
@@lastcore02 Yah indeed
Oh shit, my guy is in Seattle too? Eyyyyy
The drums grab me more than any other instrument in the band usually.
Why is Christian Bale reacting to Jason Momoa
Tony u should definitely react to more anime stuff. The amount of peak composition u will heard is insane.
Icronic clay play through my guy!!! You gotta watch it

I think Carter Beauford takes the award for happiest drummer. Dude is always smiling!
Love Cater Beauford!

I saw that video. Epic stuff
You should check out some Sleep Token. Their drummer just recently put out a couple playthroughs, super talented.

Looking forward to that
@@DrumRollTonyReacts 8:34 Check out Tim's digital composition videos while you're at it. That's where their tight lacing of space is born.

Its on the heavy side of things but a cool drummer is Evgeny Novikov the drummer for Slaughter to Prevail.
I recommend looking into the couple of live playthroughs Sleep Token recently uploaded. II is a joy to watch. His snare tone is awesome.
"That is very enjoyable" - God, yes
Great vid, u need to hear ,,, you see big girl,,,,,from snk and guts theme from berserk
Sorry also, metal drumming off the best shelves or more groove?

Trippy music, I really can't figure out whether I like it or not. It sort of bugs my brain in a weird way.
Can you do overtaken from one piece?
You should watch Chris Turner's 'Heir to the throne' cover. He's a beast!
