    These sorts of videos are inspiring. I want less stuff but some minimalist videos are far too extreme for me. I am in the process of decluttering. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis so it's a bit harder and I can tire easily but little and often is really working for me. Although when I feel I am on a roll it is easy to carry on when really its not the best idea. Personally I think little and often also enforces good long term habits. So far with my husbands help; cleared out our junk drawers, recycled all the magazines I will never use again. Filled one small pencil case with essential stationary and ditched the rest, cleared my wardrobe, including cleaning it and all the hangers (I now can see I have barely any clothes). I have chucked my make-up (I didn't have much but I don't wear it), it was all out of date. I have now set myself a no buying books rule until I have read all the ones I have and no non-essential shopping for a month.

      Wow! You are on a role! Yes, I always tell people to do 30 minutes of decluttering and then stop (unless on a real roll and then just a bit longer). You can always do more later. I love how much you've gotten done. Also, minimalism is in the eye of the beholder. Our house probably has more than a lot of the other minimalists you will see, but we only have what we use and some treasures. You do what you want with your house

      hmm "set myself a no buying books rule" I have thought about this, too. If you have the energy and time, please share how it is going?

    Thank you for posting this video. I do have a suggestion for you. Have you considered putting foam or cloth on the bottom of your bedside cabinet drawer? It just seems that things would rattle around in there when you pull it out. Just a thought.

    Peter Walsh says - A place for everything and everything in its place. Like you have similarly mentioned in this video. This is my aim on achieving in my simplified home.

    Love this video. I consider myself a realistic minimalist but so far have just minimized the kitchen and paper clutter. I am tackling the kids bathroom next. I just got rid of 12 old beat up towels that I didn't even realize we had. Your beside drawer was an eye opener. Even though my house is organized and clean I do have spots I want to work on like my bedside table. I will tackle that today!!! Thanks for the inspiration!

      Hey Lonestar Curls! Yes, it feels AMAZING to declutter all of these areas! I don't want to get too extreme, but I certainly want to only have what I like and need.

    I decluttered my kitchen drawers last fall with my oldest grandson was moving into an apartment. He thought he didn't need much as his roommate was moving from an apartment and it was assumed he had basic kitchen equipment, right? Turns out his roommate didn't really cook so there were gaps. I passed along lots of duplicates that day.

    This is so hard for me!!! I’m like but I need it maybe one day in the future that isn’t this year hahahahaha I have to remind myself to just get rid of it! Thank you for the reminder.

      Yes, that is what can get us caught. "I might use it some day". Sadly holding onto things can have a mental weight, so I try to remember that if I can replace it for $20 in 20 minutes and I'm not sure I'll use it again, then I probably should considering decluttering it

      @@MinimalistHome Hi! I just realized I had a typo. I meant decluttering (edited now). It says decorating before, but I actually occasionally watch those types of videos too.

    Could you do a minimalist video on winter clothing? It's hard to keep it minimal. Especially because I'm clueless of quality and materials. The better quality of your items the less you need... theoretically... right. But, what materials do you look for so you know that you're warm and protected towards the elements. Especially for someone as seasoned in this area because of your location. Could you give us some help on the topic!

    • @MinimalistHome
      @MinimalistHome  2 года назад

      I will keep that in mind, but might not get to it in time this year. Thanks for the great idea though.

    Was that the left handed or right handed banana slicer? ;) I JUST got rid of extra pots and pans and with them extra glass lids that were just extra/duplicate. Today one lid got knocked off the counter and broke. If I replace it, I will get one from the Thrift store, but I won't...I might have another lid that fits or a stirfry pan that can be used in stead. I am just laughing at the situation!! Love your videos!

    • @MinimalistHome
      @MinimalistHome  3 года назад +1

      Haha, yep, you caught me, a left handed slicer! I did that too when I broke something. Oh darn it! Hate when stuff gets broken. Seems SO coincidental when it's after you declutter. It has happened to me too!! Thanks so much for watching!!

    We need 2 pizza cutters. Because we have had one break while cutting a pizza and then our family that is an emergency and needs a back up at all times. Lol

      I use mine also for cutting pie crust into strips for a lattice top, cutting dumplings and (our favorite) cutting up Apple Dapple squares.
