- The woman whose songs started a movement, Helen Reddy is the perfect story for a Hollywood bio-pic feature. So what did the real life woman think of her on-screen counterpart? "Helen cried at the end of the movie," revealed director Unjoo Moon at Variety's Toronto Film Festival Studio presented by AT&T.
The guts to get on a plane with her child and fly to another country with a few hundred dollars in her pocket and wind up in the American history books 40 years later. That story certainly needs to be told.
Reddy was so much more than "I Am Woman". She was an incredible pop singer.

Her sister,Toni Lamond, is also a most incredible woman. I wish someone would make a film of her life... An amazing talent and well known here in Oz, but not more widely - though she did work OS. My thoughts are with Toni and the rest of Helen's family and friends. And her fans too.
I just watched this on Netflix last night. Great watch. Wonderful lady. RIP Ms. Reddy ❤

I had to smile when Moon said, “there is still more to be fought for.” I’m watching this in September 2021 and the Texas women who want to choose their future will have to engage in the struggle. I’m not a Texan but I am hoping the mothers and daughters of Texas are up to the challenge. I expect you are.
I was fortunate enough to see Helen play live in Wellington NZ mid 1970's when young women and girls were stepping up for women's rights. "We still have a way to go ..." 🎵🌷✌🌍❤🎶
I’ve always loved Helen Reddy. I remember sitting in the movie watching “Pete’s Dragon” with my brother, for the third time. We had 2 tape recorders & 2 brand new 2 hour memorex taped & had timed when to start the second recorder so we wouldn’t miss a single line. We listened to that movie & Helen’s beautiful voice singing “Candle On The Water” until we could afford to buy the soundtrack.
And, I still remember the very first time I heard Helen sing “You And me Against The World” on one of her specials. It made me cry back then, and it still makes me cry, 50+ years later. Helen Reddy was amazing and she had a beautiful powerhouse voice.
As for this biopic, did not care for it a bit. It may have made Helen Reddy and her anthem relevant to a new generation, but felt the story didn’t do her life any justice. Sadly, she has since passed away. RIP Helen Reddy. ALL of your music still lives on in our hearts.
I am so sad to learn of the passing of the iconic singer-songwriter Helen Reddy. She made the biggest statement of my life with her hit "I am Woman. My condolences to her family.
One of my favorite movie and loved the cast. They all did an amazing job and the casting agent was spot on. I have seen this 4 times! I's a joy to watch as I was 18 in 1975 & grew up with Helen's music! So thrilled she got to this this film about her life.
This was an amazing story of Helen’s life🎶🎤🥰❤️🙏 She will live on in the lives of so many women ❤️🙏 She empowers other women to never give up on your dream & fight for who you are! And most importantly know who you are❤️🙏🥰🎤🎤
I just watch this movie in Hong Kong，I love this song and Helen Reddy. Thank you for the move,director, actress...I love the movie too.
The movie was wonderful and all of the actors were absolutely perfect!!!! It was so moving and Helen Reddy was such a power house during those times.
The movie was so well done, it's wonderful to hear that she had a positive opinion of it. I was sad to learn of her passing. The lyrics of her iconic hit are still so relevant. She was ahead of her time. Those lyrics had a huge impact on me as a little girl in the 70s.
Very much glad Helen loved it and was moved to tears. I think if some person has their film made based on their lives, it is expected they will feel something, but receptive she was, indeed. Also - at 3:22, Moon makes a point in which I could have never said it better myself - while biopics can spout facts and dramatisation, the spirit of the subject, particularly Helen, has to be rightfully honoured! :-)

So glad this movie got made. I Am Woman was the first song I memorized every word of. Even as a tiny little girl I knew it was special.

Have loved her since I was a teen. Thoroughly enjoyed the movie, but wished the movie would have used her actual songs. She was so underrated.

I am finding this movie... this story of Helen Reddy... just weeks after Roe v Wade has been overturned. It has even more meaning. The song keeps evolving and deepening.

A boyfriend once said in this phony tail story which he maake up, never play with a human life when you suppose to reach for help. Nahhh!! Karen was in a group with her brother, The Carpenters. Helen was a solo act.
