    Excellent idea to show the different gauge of wire, side by side, so we are able to see how the different sizes of wire compare to one another. Thanks for sharing this video with us.

    • @LanAnhHandmade
      @LanAnhHandmade  5 лет назад +1

      @TJ Harshbarger : Thanks for your information There are many ways to make chain necklace, this is the simplest one I usually use
      Depending on the purpose, you can use big or small wire, making long or short chain, add stones or not.

    • @LanAnhHandmade
      @LanAnhHandmade  5 лет назад +2

      @ 81OH4Z4RD : The beads used must have holes larger than the wire diameter. the length of the wire used = the length of the chain without stones + the diameter of the stone

    Classic chin so good to making me with hands but what's the measurements of piece of wire should cut madam

    • @LanAnhHandmade
      @LanAnhHandmade  Год назад

      In the video I use :
      21 gauge ( wire diameter 0.7mm ) : each chain length 1.5cm (0,6 inch)
      If your pliers cannot bend very small circles, you should use wire with a larger diameter and longer length to ensure the durability of the product.

    How much practice does it take to get really good at making chains?
    I've just started jewellery making, and I've wasted alot of wire. I kept the scraps so I can make chain links with it but even though I'm measuring them all the same size, when I use the round nose pliers I'm not getting equal symmetrical sides my hearts aren't looking the same 🙈

    • @LanAnhHandmade
      @LanAnhHandmade  4 года назад +1

      You can mark the position on your pliers, so that you can bend both sides the same. Wish you success and make more beautiful products

    I wear my chains to the center of my ribcage. How long of a piece of silver wire should I have them cut for me at the silver exchange?

    • @81OH4Z4RD
      @81OH4Z4RD 5 лет назад +1

      each link looks about half as long as the original cut of wire, so maybe measure the length of one of your existing chains then double that length

    • @LanAnhHandmade
      @LanAnhHandmade  5 лет назад +2

      Depending on the type of link you create, it is best to try several links to measure the length, then calculate the wire to use.
      Wish you success and make more beautiful products

    • @aliceharvey3019

      And practice on copper wire. You can get it at any hardware store and is very economical for practice pieces, compared to silver.

    Lovely technique and product, as always; however I am always leery of links that don't close completely. For me and others I talk with, a necklace with open links catches on hair and I don't like that. So I like to solder all my links closed. Just my personal preference.

      Bạn dùng lực vừa phải, thao tác nào không nhất quyết phải dùng kềm thì hạn chế dùng kềm, mình làm thì thỉnh thoảng vẫn bị xước dây, bạn có thể dấu chổ xước vào góc khuất hoặc quấn dây đè lên. Các thao tác này bạn làm rồi tự rút kinh nghiệm, vì còn tùy thói quen của từng người

    It's a bit hard making this chain using 1mm copper wire... hurt my palm much lol
    Also almost broke my round nose plier too...

    • @LanAnhHandmade
      @LanAnhHandmade  5 лет назад

      I usually make chains from wires with a diameter of 0.7mm. You can change the wire size according to your purpose

    • @aliceharvey3019
      @aliceharvey3019 5 лет назад

      Yes the thicker wire can be harder to work with. When you order it be sure to get dead soft wire. If it is half hard, or hard, or even hardens too much while working it, you will probably need to anneal it.
      And take breaks when your hands start to get tired.
