I don't know what the rules are in that server, but having just recently grown a Iquanodon to an adult in official, I can say I hardly run when I get into fights. I give them a good kick to the head, then turn and thumb them as they try to get on my side. And I only run if I'm desperate for food or water, and even then, I never get too far below half full on stamina if I can help it. Having died only 5 times due to sudden falls and 5v1-7v1's, I can say you best options are to bait out a tail ride, or attempt to get them near you rear as much as possible.
