I saw this movie as a boy in 1968.I’ve probably watched it every year since along with the other two in this epic trilogy. The absolute pinnacle of the Western genre.
Love how this is the part where Indio realizes that Lee and Clint were in on it together, before even meeting Lee, by counting how many shots were fired, 7!
@@junior.oficial he didn’t have to see the apples to know it was them. He would’ve heard the shots and seen that Eastwood was still alive and there’s no bodies around. After seeing Lee kill the hunchback it would’ve confirmed his suspicion of a 2nd gunman
Leone and Morricone really nailed this sequence and of course, "Sixty Seconds to What?". I read that they played Morricone's score on the set of Once Upon a Time In the West.........
Those banditos were the smartest bad guys in the whole trilogy - straight up just said "you know, maybe we shouldn't fuck with that scary looking tall dude who has perfect aim"
Its that cool persona Eastwood has. Like, putting his shaw over his shoulder. Then lights a little cigar. Then shows his shooting skills. But wait!! Its not nessacerliy, fast, fast, fast. Its like, just calm, cool, and collect. Nothing jerkey. Thats Eastwood. No dipping and dodging. Standing straight and just casually puts his gun in holster. Oh, with a little swirling of his fun first. Gotta live it!!
mangarang, hello. Yes I was quite disappointed with the hd version of The Good, The Bad and the Ugly that I've got that the gunfire sounds are not how I remember them.
ciò che mi colpisce di più di questa scena è la cura dei dettagli nell'abbigliamento dei tre messicani, e soprattutto la fisionomia iper tipica, che raramente appare nei film americani.
This is a cool bit of foreshadowing. In the final showdown, after Lee Van Cleef dispenses with the bad guy, Clint says, "Bravo." Then, since Clint loaned Lee his pistol and holster, Lee twirls the pistol before holstering it.
Anyone notice that when the 1st. outlaw first shows up Clint's cigar isn't lit. Then he dismounts and his cigar is lit. Then when the 2 other outlaws show his cigar isn't lit and then he lights up.
When this movie and I were both young, I made a pilgrimage to Agua Caliente. Not the one shown here, which is in Spain, but the one Sergio Leone spotted on a map of the civil war in Arizona. A few miles away, at what was then Stanwix Station, the westernmost skirmish of the American Civil War took place. Agua Caliente at one time had over a hundred residents. Today, it is pretty much a ghost town.

I'd like to applaud those three banditos. That is in fact the correct response when the guy you're facing down just shot down three apples in three shots from, I want to say, 15 yrds with a revolver.
Clint was good. Van Cleef was great. Far better than Eastwood. He even outdoes him shooting in the orchard.. Lee Van Cleef and Eli Wallach steal every scene like thieves that can't be caught. Without these two Clint would never have become the star he was.

In english they added at 0:34 "no" but the character says nothing. Also at 0:24 the real translation is "no they don't like them (strangers)" not "they don't like anybody". These seem minor changes but actually the adaptation is a bit rough.
The english dialogue is pretty different from the italian one, that is: -It almost looks like a cemetery, and for someone it could even become so. It's the filthiest and most disgusting town in the world, people who don't love strangers ... right Groggy? -No, they don't love them. -Wild, have you ever seen this friend of ours shoot? -Mmm... -And you? -Mmm...mmm... -No one's ever seen you shoot, so you know what you can do amigo? Better late than never.
Be sure to watch the other two!
Welcome.
To be really 'classic' you need to at least 25 years years older..BUT you get major points for getting us 'older' crew..Robert at 68.
many others to watch
Thanks Sergio Leone, Ennio Morricone and of course Lee Van Cleef and Clint Eastwood. Love the Trilogy.
Took me a while to realize the second in command in Indio’s band is the same guy who plays Pablo, Tuco’s brother from the good the bad and the ugly
Yes I recognized him also.
Indio calls Groghi comes running.
Looks like his brother has his own history with crime.
The music 🎶 is so legendary. 🔥
