We started in the GTA, graduated and then moved to Edmonton where we lived for several years. We bought a house before even before becoming permanent residents. We decided to move back to Ontario in 2016. We sold the house and everything. Moved to London Ontario and haven't been happier. We own a house in Ontario so not everywhere in Ontario is super expensive. Having a house is only one aspect of living in Alberta but taking into consideration other aspects, Alberta wasn't for us especially with kids. At the end, it boils down to what is most important to you that will make you happy in any region compared to another.
I travel for work as a travel nurse. Am two hours away from grand prairie. I love it out here working and being at peace. Never look back at Ontario. Canada yours to discover. I smile every time i see our people in these small towns You have to get out of your comfort zoon and explore. Just proud of her and anyone who take the leap.
I currently live in Toronto and have just accepted a job in Grande Prairie. I will be moving there in July and have found this page very helpful in making my decision. I was born in Jamaica but have lived in Canada almost all my life but it was reassuring to see Jamaicans loving the city and it help finalize the acceptance of the job. Hope to run into in town and pick your brains at some point.
Hey Demz, this was an interesting video. Its indeed good to get varying perspective about life in Canada, big city vs small city etc. More & more I feel like Grande Prairie has a vibe & its definitely worth living there to establish a good foundation. Love your content as always, nuff respect to you & the family.
Demz can you have someone like your guest speak about the job search in Grand Prairie or Alberta on a whole....or can you speak about strategies for job search?
Bless her to meet a realtor that helped her and not take advantage of her situation. I've been in the same boat, Knew nothing about Canada but got great help from others
We moved from Vancouver BC a couple years ago now. Noticed a lot of growth and movement here. One problem with GP is it relies heavily on the property taxation to fund everything which makes housing costs rise including rents. Our property tax cost is 3x more than it was in BC and no home owner grant here. Utilities costs are also a lot more.
I moved from Toronto to FSJ in dec 2023, its been more than 6 months now,, but honestly i do not get the feeling of belongingness here,, i hv started missing Toronto now. I don’t know if it’s normal or not
I currently live in Toronto, I lived in Edmonton over 5 years ago and to be honest I'm moving back to Edmonton. I just found more balance in my life. Toronto is nice but it's very costly and crowded. I am considering relocatiing back to Edmonton for a few rewsons. 1) the Healthcare is better, 2) Houses are cheaper and you get more for your money, 3) My daughter was more happy in school
Started in the GTA 2018 and during COVID price just start gallop. We move to Ottawa as a result and if I knew better, I would have gone there first or Alberta but Jah had a plan for us here but will visit soon and I am an Engineer. Right now, my brother-In-law looking to forward and me have a cousin whey just finish school and me tell them, don’t look just in Ontario. Check out other places like Alberta.
@@BlessGirlJoe depends on what you’re looking for. Haven’t looked at the market in 2-3yrs. Today I saw a 2bd rm TH for $1850 but that doesn’t seem to be the norm now. It was when I had moved here 🫤. What do you consider to be affordable?
Nothing beats owning your own home. I love having my own space. I'm happy that I took the risk to migrate to New Brunswick instead of Ontario, best decision ever!
I’m currently moving out of Ontario for the same rent ridiculousness. I lived in a one bedroom basement unit for $1300 and wanted to move but I refused to pay upwards of $2000 for a small unit. It’s ridiculous and I’m not driving an hour to go to work because that’s the only way you could get slightly cheaper rent.
@@DiAndersons no thank you! I’m currently on my journey to Edmonton, one day from arriving but thanks to your videos Grand Prairie is now on my list of places I’m considering in the near future to settle !
I lived in Edmonton for almost 11 yrs while it has its perks, I never considered it home, maybe GP is different. Moved back to Ontario in 2019 and have no regrets. It was the best choice for me and my household but to each his own.
@@DiAndersonsHey Demz, keeping up with your vlogs. I like the perspective. I once lived in a very small town in Ontario for 12 years, population 3000., then I moved to Markham a city outside Toronto. Population 340 thousand. I am in the GTA, but don't tell me I am in Toronto. Different identity, I live in York Region. Your guest was living in Halton Region. However for her to keep saying Ont, Ont and equating it with GP is a bit off. Oakville is over 200 thousand, next door is Burlington close to 200. I think though, you have to go get your footing in a small town then do what you want to do next. Especially professional, because jobs are always available for us.
Bigger cities are very competive in term of jobs opportunities yes best candidates,GTA and worse Toronto is very rough and very expensive🤫 . Missing part of her the type of job/field.
Okay, I’m in Toronto and it’s been incredibly mild these past two winters in comparison to what we see in Alberta so that’s why I say that but hey, you’re right have to be prepared irregardless never know when you’ll get a bad one.
Lived in Oakville for over 20 years.. your neighbours don’t even talk to you. I now live in Northern Ontario and love it. Alberta is very nice. My in law lives there.
