Thank you! I only used a Shure PG48 Mic above my head to record the drums, then i did a little EQ and added some reverb. The heads are ambassador on the bottom and emperor on top, i love that combination.
My godfather got me into this band yesterday by showing the anesthetize dvd, this song live....its so amazing! Specially the drums, been playing drums for 9 years and just listening to how good your drumming is gives me chills :) \m/
Sieni Morso That is great man! Porcupine Tree is one of my favorite bands. I watched them live back in 2010, they were touring with The Incident album, it has to be one of the best shows i've seen. You don't know how inspiring your words are... It's really good that you like my playing (it even gives you chills! Haha), makes me want to go further with my playing.Thank you so much! But lastly, i hope you can subscribe to my channel, i have some other stuff that you might like. Keep practicing! See you.
DiegoDelgadoDrums I listened to Incident last night...the album is great! I subscribed and im excited to follow your career! Checking your other stuff out! :)
Thank you, man! It's true he's a monster, not by chance is he my favorite drummer and one of my biggest inspirations as a musician and as a player. I hope you subscribed to my channel, and if not, please do and wait for more videos coming ;)
SPOT ON!!!!! Brilliant Job! Love this track, and you sure nailed it. I am definitely subscribing. I don't play drums my son does, but he is only 16.I loveeee drums.
+baz daj Oh!!!! You subscribed already, haha, i just responded another comments of yours... I'm really glad you liked the cover. Keep on encouraging your son to play drums, they're great!
Oh you watched his videos? He needs a lot of work still, and I certainly need to do something about the sound, tried using video cameras and it did not work, so I use my Ipad :(
Hola! the only wrong thing in this video is your broken Zildjian... then, what can I say? Awesome! tenì mucho gusto ver como toca esta cancion, you rock!
Great job man!! Have been watching this since a long time every now n then. It inspires me to take up drumming that I left like 2 years back due to work.
+Aditya Luhadia Thank you so much, those are really kind words, man! I've never been told that i inspire anyone to keep playing. What an awesome thing internet is... I hope you can subscribe to my channel, i'm gonna keep uploading videos with better quality.
Subscribed! Looking forward to your new posts! Indeed !! Internet is kind and great for artists like us who can express and share their work! God bless you!
+Jacob Sosa Thank you so much, i'm glad you liked it. Yes, it was a very hard song for me to learn since i'm self taught and lyrical... I tried my best at the moment. Oh, by the way, please check my other videos, i hope there's more you like. Heh, and if you like them, please subscribe! Cheers!
Antoine Flynn Thank you! I'm glad you liked it, it's a tough song. You can watch more covers in my channel, please do. And remember, hehe, like and subscribe.
Jesús Cares Thank you! It's great that you liked it, seriously... ¿Hablas español? Hehe, i do, but just in case you don't, i'm going to keep with english. Man, if you liked this video, please take a look at my other videos, and if you like them, please subscribe. Cheers!
Great cover! I love this band, and this song is one of my favourites too, but at the same time I don't like to listen to it very often because this song got me in one of my saddest moments of my life and listening to this song brings those sad memories back... Anyway, very good job! :)
Josue Zumelzu Damn, man! Such a great song to be ruined (kind of) by bad moments of your life. I'm sorry. But thank you, i appreciate that you watched the video and commented it. Thank you for the kind words.
Hey man, Great Playing. I got the book Rhythmic Composition from Gavin and when i read he notations for Way Out Of Here the second verse starting at 2:19 just looks like he improvises through out. Do you play this song by just listening to it or you purchase the book and memorize the parts ?
Thank you! I apologize for my late response, i hope it helps you even this late. I don't really know how to read a drum sheet, man. I know the note values and all, i can even decipher some meters, but that is all. So i really just listened to the song and tried to play it as close as the original one :) Again, thank you and i hope this helps you in some way. P.S. Don't forget to check my other drum videos and subscribe, please :)
Damn dude, that was sweet :D Trying to learn this song and I have a feeling this video is really going to help :) I just have one question, at 2:15 are you hitting the snare rim or the small tom rim? Or doesn't it matter? By the way: Love the broken Zildjian crash ;)
Thank you! I hope the video helps you. I don't think it really matters where you hit the rim, but my snare has diecast hoops and i think it sounds better than the tom rim. I've got new cymbals now, i just need some time to record a new video and show them off ;)
Very nice drumming, man! I just got turned on to Porcupine Tree, Steve Wilson and Gavin Harrison last year by the guy who makes Kit-toys edrum cymbal triggers. Been out of the loop so to speak for a few years. Anyway, very interesting use of single stroke rolls instead of quads/triplets/quints with the kicks or whatever the hell Gavin does on that song. Still sorting it out with my bass pedalsI haha. I like the sound of that cut up trash/crash cymbal in the video. Was that an old broken one or did you make it like that on purpose? You nail the off-beat accents intermixed with the low end fills during that sweet middle-late part of the song. Subscribed. Thanks.
+Adam Lance Hey, man! Thank you for the kind words. Now, for the part you're refering to "quads" and stuff, Gavin is actually also doing single strokes :) The cymbal is -was- broken, so it was not intentionally done. Hope you can check my last video, the Tesseract one and tell me what you think :) Cheers from México, Diego
Muchas gracias!
Saludos!
Hey bro, im thinking of covering this song and i was wondering..how did you match the song with the recording (video and mich's) ? thanks astonishing cover by the way! :)
Yelawolf Hey! Thank you for your words! Well, i use Sony Vegas to edit the videos and i use Reaper for the audio mixing. I have a Presonus interface. So, well, i record the video and music at the same time, but i have to mix the audio first and then edit the video and synchronise it with the music and my playing. It's not that hard, it just takes some hours. If i can be of any more help, please ask me. And subscribe, please!
Great job. Never judge a man by his broken symbal.
Thank you! No, never! Look at Baard Kolstad (Leprous), he always has a broken cymbal on his kit.
I was atheist, now I believe in Jesus.
ODD has passed by and has loved it soo much!
ODD Official Thank you guys! It's great that you liked it!

Do you mean other Porcupine Tree songs? If that's the case, i'm planning on recording some more stuff soon ;)
Outstanding, you killed it and made it look easy. I actually kinda hate you right now. LOL JK!! Great Job man.
Thank you, man! It really is a tough song, it's nice to read that i made it look easy. But, no, don't hate me...
