What an adorable human being. Rest peacefully Mr. Bowie.
This was one of the best Interviews ever. He had not to answer all this terrible boring same questions, he had fun and was so relaxed. I watched this so often. It's just great. Thank you for that. I still miss him so much. Love you David.
do you know which song is this one ? I can't find it..
Agree
Space boy
@@nurial4914 hi, sorry I didn't saw your message.
The songs are:
1.The voyeur of utter distruction
2.Hello spaceboy
3.Under pressure
thanks darling @@powermurmel
I love his laugh and his witty little comments!!! I find David Bowie to be a very intelligent, interesting, honest and his creative genius is simply incredible!!! A brilliant talent and a very real person. There will only ever be one David Bowie.
I love how this is happening, Bowie is engaging with the people around, calm honest answers, diverse questions etc. It really looks like David is enjoying this interview and this reflects to viewers.
Because the interviewer wasn't like, "Ziggy this, Ziggy that". He was actually curious about the new album and its concept. He's better prepared than Bowie in most interviews. Did his fucking homework.
This gentleman, Karel, was wonderful. He let David move the conversation at his own pace. The Best interview I have ever seen. Thank you, Sir, for this priceless gift.
Very true! A great man!
You are doing well to say that. And David felt really comfortable with him and the audience. It makes so much difference how ones approach is to the artist. My full respect
18:10 Bowie just looked at that young lady with wonder and loving kindness. Ahhh.... priceless.
Sooo absolutely charismatic. Absolutely a beautiful, intelligent, creative mind. A deep thinker, me thinks but a great balance with a good sense of humour! We do not have anyone like David Bowie todate. Irreplaceable. ❤
And the fabulous Gail Ann Dorsey on bass. And what a voice she got.
I love the way she and David sing Under Pressure. Quarantine isn't too terribly bad when I can listen to their music!
Gail Ann Dorsey is such the force. Anyone she plays with she elevates. Gail Ann Dorsey''s vocals are powerful and beautiful. I love hearing her do harmony with David Bowie. UNDER PRESSURE is soooo good as well to hear them together!❤
Gail 🤩😍🥰
David Bowie is incredibly intelligent and also very funny. This interview is a pleasure and joy to hear and the interviewer did a fine job in getting David to relax.
"no, I haven´t grown up - belive me" & the blinking in his eyes ... wonderfull!
Great interview and musical performance. Just want a shout out to Gail Ann Dorsey. A 20-year tenure with Bowie is impressive in its own right, but she does an awesome job for 'under pressure'. Freddie's boots are hard to fill. Well done!
Amazing, right? I saw them in concert! Wow!!!
he,s so intelligent l cant take it in straight away, thankyou you tube l can rewind
His son is lucky to have so much footage of his dad. I wish I recorded my dad more often.
Grunky Peep
I doubt very much that Bowie's son, Joe? watched or now watches his Dad's interviews or concerts at all! They hopefully had a normal father/ son relationship!!
I sometimes think that as well about my parents, but it would be bittersweet. I doubt that I would watch it much as it would ultimately prolong the grieving process.
@@petermills542 David's son's name is Duncan Jones and he's a movie director. David Bowie was very honest about his drug addiction in the 70s. His interviews were always entertaining, and his smile could light a room.
DAVID BOWIE IS VERYMUCH MISSED BY ALL HIS FANSOF WHICH I AM MOST RESPECIALLY ONE. ITS HARD TO BELIEVE HES GONE.
Bowie has a daughter.
I was there when he first came on the scene in my mid-teens. He came to my home town of Perth in Scotland in 1969 in his Space Oddity period and performed at the Salutation Hotel. You could not help but be mesmerised by him and I miss him dearly. A gentle, gracious, intelligent generous soul. I would give anything just to see him perform one last time. David was genuinely the coolest man on the planet. I miss him a lot.
God the Dutch are so direct.
"Now, I want to talk about fear."
It's brilliant. Bowie can handle it well of course, but interviewers definitely dont talk like that in Britain.
There's also a bit of a language barrier. They are indeed quite direct but not necessarily in the way that you see here. It just gets a bit awkward from time to time due to quirky English and Bowie was generally pretty good at handling odd situations. :)
The interesting thing is that every approach gives a different result. If you see different styles of interviews of one person, it gives all together a better image. Like a photograph from different angels of a person. And yes, the British are very indirect, very polite. Most of the dutch won't understand the the true meaning of ".. mmm, interesting" where a British person would understand "boring, change subject please". Raised in Holland and now living abroad makes me realize that there is a barrier between direct cultures and indirect cultures and often miscommunication is programmed if both sides are not aware of this differences. Dutch people however are not alone here. Go to Berlin or Israel and you know what I mean ;)
@@ronnie9187 British people or native English speakers vary on directness depending on upbringing or class. More middle class tend to be more diplomatic in response or less Blunt. Sometimes i find it annoying because it can be hard to get a straight answer.
David's comments about his son's still studying was just like any father haha.
...and great professionals in their field! Some of the best! I live in Paris, France and traveled around Europe, Dutch are subtle and work hard, my compliments!👍🙏🔥❤️🔥🙏 British are great too,if they don't get tabloïds-like....
Love the small touch of the pianist at the beginning playing the intro of "Sense of Doubt"
Fresh and intelligent interview. Glad you could give Bowie a good, flowing conversation. One of the best.
Oh my god 😘 thank you, thank you, thank you, that was just fantastic and one of the best versions of Under-pressure I’ve seen/heard Gail and Bowie ever do. Just precious ❤️
Fantastic interview. Bowie was calm and appeared to enjoy the full process. He was open and forthcoming. Well done.
He seemed at great ease and peace.
Fantastic interview, I remember watching this when it was first broadcast. I was very lucky living near the Dutch Border & being able to pick up Ned1, 2 & 3. Dutch TV always had great music programms, Countdown was a must every week
My God this is good man.
I remember when I heard the heartbreaking news that David Bowie had passed away. I went out and got the cd and the 45 of the last album he did, Black Star. I was so upset, I cried for days. It was obvious that he was very ill In the video. He still had that brilliant creativity and passion that he has had for his entire career!!! I saw him live twice!!! Sensational. He had big screens up so he could be seen by everyone in the audience. He did Ziggy Stardust and the screens were David Bowie in concert doing Ziggy Stardust. The red hair, the makeup and the one shoulder sequined outfit. You felt like you were going back in time and seeing that concert!!! Awesome performance!!! I still really miss him 😢
Never understood the dislike for Outside from a lot of Bowie fans. It’s one of my favourites.
This interviewer just passed away. RIP Karel Van Der Graaf 🕊💔
His introduction video was very insightful and a great footing for the conversation that followed. He sets a very good standard.
not a moment did I not enjoy this interview! David is fabulous! Given me another perspective on my DB 2nd best album of all!
Amazing David! You're terribly missed!
I was lucky enough to see Bowie perform twice w the lovely, Gail Anne Dorsey. Magnificent. No one could sing Freddie Mercury’s part like this lady. Eyes closed I believed that Freddie was indeed performing w Bowie.
Still can't believe he left this world
I'm happy hope you're happy too
It is great that the interviewer asks questions that matters.. David is always great
What a wonderful man! They don't make them like that anymore. Lovely Renaissance Man.
One of the best and most intelligent interviews I've seen. Informative and I loved it! Thank you
Awe he was a diamond, its lovely when people can express their soul so clearly i wish this for everyone
Real shame that a performer of his calibre left us so early and went to Mars. Love David Bowie, his music, the man, God continue to bless him where ever he is.
Amazing interview. Kudos to the interviewer. Memory eternal, Bowie!
Absolutely fantastic amazing version of Space Boy live! Thanks from the UK enjoying watching your channel so much great music history. ☺
The sound could be better.
What a great interview! And on January 8th, happy birthday, David Bowie ! Missing you badly!
🙏🔥❤️🔥🙏⚡ GREAT!
What a great interview followed by a very tight musical set. Brilliant. And he was alright, the band was altogether,
The Greats Never Really Die... They Live On Forever!! Thank you for sharing! 💖
Amazing interview and live tunes by Bowie and band!! Thank you.
Bowie (except for a couple of famous interviews in which he was cained out of his head) always articulated himself well. He was interested in many aspects of culture, perhaps too many? He was charming and not evasive. Here he answers these clumsy questions with directness. It's refreshing. 'I feel fairly stable.'
Thanks for posting this. The interview and performance remind me of all that was great about Bowie. ✊
pablozewoppa He is indeed very well-articulated. I could listen to him for hours and hours and never get bored.
Yes, he had lots of interests...loved how he described himself as a grasshopper; I can see it, and it's part of what makes him so adorable. Lots of artists seem to be like that; I guess cuz their minds are constantly tossAing around new and creative ideas. He was funnier later in life when he grew in maturity. Some of his jokes were so lame, they were hilarious; even he laughed. I was touched that in one concert, he knelt and prayed the Our Father in memory of those having died of AIDS. He's not even religious, and that made it especially touching.
I was only a teenager when I first listened one of his song in the 1970's. I could see his evolution through the decades and always knew that he was passing from one stage to another during his life. I was and am so happy he found his life love and happiness. In one of his so many interviews he sad that if he had to make a choice between his music and his family, he would always choose his family. For him it was number one. That's way I sometimes think that the journalists asked him a lot of stupid questions, but luckily he was so polite to answer them all. Rest in peace dear David, you master of music.
One of the most enchanting artists ever! Truly amazing ... lifelong entertainment and interest in the mysterious mind of the legendary Mr Bowie ... RIP... Forever missed ...
Just excellent. Outside so underated. And this is a gem of a performance from all.
It's wonderful to see the full show at last. Many thanks. Although there appear to be some missing moments from the interview, like Bowie discussing the wallpaper he designed. Regardless, BOWIE FOREVER!
Lucky enough this artist
stayed alive for so long 😊
Great Dutch Interview!
A smart man Bowie was 😌
David didn't stay alive nearly long enough. I was fortunate to see Bowie perform live many times but that wasn't nearly enough for me! I'm a greedy, greedy little fan!
God how I miss Bowie!
@@bowieaddict3178 glad you say that last part 😏😉
Mr. Bowie died at the perfect time of course
@@shucksful I don't understand how people can comment that Bowie died at the right time. A lot of terrible things have transpired since David's untimely death. I'm glad he didn't have to witness the riots, a horrid U.S. president and the pandemic. But no time was the right time for David to go.
I just love the way he helped to clear the table well done my friend that says it all !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Terrific interview and a treat to see David and band in such an intimate setting (Zach is apparently playing a rented kit!). And all ending off with the studio pianist playing a solo version of 'Warszawa'. Excellent.
That was Mike Garson.
Compelling interview. Great band. I'm fond of the 'Outside' material/moment. It's perhaps a touchstone in the post "Scary Monsters" context.
Bowie better than any other artist in history mastered Avant Rock and Avant Pop to such a high degree you are left in awe with his music. All races on Earth can immediately realize how good he is even if they never heard him before and age doesn't matter. As an American, I have always been pleased with the creativity of the Europeans when it comes to music (Especially England). The Brit bands like Led Zeppelin, The Art of Noise, Queen, Adele, George Michael, Phil Collins, The Beatles, Elton John, Depeche Mode, The Who, Pink Floyd, Bowie, and String are great bands that came out of England that have ruled the world. As a true fan of good music and good creativity, I appreciate the Brits contribution towards my life long happiness.
agreed. i would add joy division, the cure, and radiohead to that list as well.
@@shmackatrotsky5394 Oh my !!!!! Who could I have forgotten Radiohead !!!!! How !!!!!!
And the legendary MARC BOLAN.
" I'll still be doing space songs when i'm 90"
😢
Apart from being a very good interview did anyone realise that his complete Outside Tour band was there waiting for the interview to complete? Gail Ann Dorsey, Carlos Alomar(you also see him in the Station to Station clip in the film Christiane F), Reeves Gabrels, Zack Alford and Mike Garson. Amazing.
Enjoyed every minute, and was amazed by the fabulous female singer in the band
kind, creative, wonderful man...what a lost...
Bellissima intervista, mi sembrava quasi di essere presente. Lui era proprio coinvolgente e carismatico. Che essere meraviglioso
One of my favorite periods in his career.
40:44 Favorite part. :) Bowie was the only one who laughed too. God thats great.
What did he say? I think I got it but I am not sure...
@@tomasotreasaigh111 Now a new fragrance from l'oreal
Amongst all the plaudits have to admire Bowie's ability to always have a top-notch band.
It’s like god appearing on The One Show!
How true.
I'm from America. I'm not familiar with this show. But especially now it's like being in the presence of God
David was such a cool dude.
❤️ Bowie rip great interview
What a man he really was and what a good interview for once I honestly think he enjoyed doing what he probably hated as the norm and what a good interviewer this chap was
gave him space and was not after the highlight This is how it should always be just let them talk about whatever they want to talk about NO PRESSURE always brings out the best in folk
when will big companies realize this to get the best out of their work force !!! 110% well done and R.I.P. David you were a very nice chap with talent beyound beleif you will yes will
be missed but your music I feel will carry on for Many Many years to come and probably due to its content for EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lets hope thats the case as it was/is something special !!
Great interview. Love Bowie's intellect and humour. A one-off.
Excellent interview! i've watched it twice, it's so good!
Despite his eccentric and provocative artistic persona, he was quite a gentleman.
A wee bit of a National Treasure. If my Smartphone had Union Jacks, i'd give you a few.
He was a tool of the devil
The Preacher
And you're the Tool!
The preacher; David Bowie: "There is no devil." Me: " The devil exists only in the hearts and minds of those who see him everywhere. " You, sir, need to free your heart
David Bowie is still amazing!!!! Wish i couldve seen him live
I love David Bowie
Incredible performance, Gail Anne Dorsey is amazing ❤
Thank you so much. I'm awestruck.
I could listen to Davie Bowie talk all day, so interesting and intelligent. I also am a Freddie Mercury fan and so happy David Sung under pressure 🎸🎤👑❣️
Fantastic interview.
amazing personality, love that interviwer a lot , well done
Great interview and live songs :)
Remarkable interview, thanks a lot!
A very normal, chilled, cool. fun, intelligent. sweet, kind man.
❤
Bedankt ervoor, deze is ECHT en belangrijk (vind ik ) .Dus compliments and again all my love for your precious and high quality and intense way you do your job and love ,interest in humans and their lives, Karel ,big kiss and respect...Sylvia
What a wonderful interview!
Great interview and performance. Gail Ann Dorsey is simply fabulous. Has anyone caught the piano chords of "Warszawa" at the end?
There were some excerpts from Low at the beginning as well.
I wish the entire performance was shown.
Sie wirkt nicht gutaussehend neben Bowie.
This is so fucking good a really good interview lovely audience and a really good songs.a was their at the concert in utrect bowie played a blinder.he is such a miss.thank you for sharing this lovely footage.thanks x
GREAT INTERVIEW!
I love that little anecdote about Duncan going to see PIL live and turning up in full Punk and Bowie actually going "If you think I'm going to let you go out looking that way..."
Bowie, apparently just your normal average dad.
I got the impression that he was slightly unimpressed with his son's choice of wash-in wash-out dye and took the opportunity to make it the ironic comment and subsequent anecdote that we all heard.
I agree with the previous comment about this being the best interview/interviewer I have seen with Bowie. It's so refreshing after all the years of all the stupid, uninformed, & fawning interviewers he endured! Even the audience seems to be in tune with the interviewer and with Bowie.
The interviewer asked such good questions! He also looks a bit like Thomas Dolby.

This line hits different
Thank You
He was so well spoken and honest. Miss you 💜
This interviewer is brilliant. There's a reason this is absolute gold as an exchange.
Bowie was so cool.
Fantastic. Thank You Soooooooooooo much for Sharing this Top Pop. Did David Ever do "The Laughing Gnome" on Top Pop??.
Not that I know of. He did Rebel Rebel, which was the last ever Ziggy performance.
Fantastic interview 5 stars *****
Ich kenn die Musik von Bowie seit den 70ern.....
Er fasziniert und stößt mich gleichzeitig ab......
Das ist scheinbar sein Erfolg gewesen........Hut ab Mr. Ziggy Stardust❤
